Like the title, it has all the basics to learn Excel. It's a book intended for beginners who doesn't have a clue about excel and it did actually that. As someone who took courses on Excel before, this "mini" book helped refresh my memory on the basics. I totally recommend for this to everyone. Anyone could read this and excel better at their job and education.

Tech manuals are confoundingly difficult to write, so I am always impressed when an author manages to produce a guide that is accurate, user-friendly, and not deadly dull to read. This book ticks the boxes for the reader who is perhaps self-taught or knows a little bit, but has much more to learn.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC for the purpose of an unbiased review.

A helpful and easy-to-read starter guide or refresher for Excel and Google Sheets. Very handy to get going quickly with clear instructions and step-by-step screenshots.

Like most books with titles that promise miracles, this can’t deliver either, but not for a lack of trying. The book is clear, concise, and reasonably complete. That is it’s problem. To deliver completeness with a complex topic, like excel, is not a 30 minute job- no matter who you are. However, if you know something about excel, and have a particular issue, and you can look it up, you are likely to be able to find the answer and solve your problem in less than the promised 30 minutes.

Good overall beginner’s guide to using Microsoft Excel, with some Google Sheets help as well! I enjoyed the clear descriptions and recommend to anyone who is looking to learn the basics of Excel.

DEMYSTIFYING EXCEL!

Excel has an image problem. Are you someone who assumes Excel is only meant to be used by accountants, analysts, mathematicians or any other related “geeky” stereotype you can think of? Do not worry, you are in the majority. The author of this guide wants to dispel that myth. The point of this quick introduction into Excel is to not only get you up to speed on the basic concepts, but also show you examples of all the modern day uses for which anyone can use Excel. Including for work, school, personal projects, etc.

"Excel Basics in 30 Minutes" is exactly as the title proclaims. It is a guide for beginners. The guide is easy to follow, it uses plain English, step-by-step instructions, with lots of screen shots for you to follow along. It is also interactive so you can open Excel on your own device and do the basic functions along with the screen shots and entirely at your own pace.

There is also a companion website to "Excel Basics In 30 Minutes", where the files are free to download including the worksheets the author used as examples in this guide.

I am an accounting student and have to take several excel classes and the teacher think that we know everything. The information contained here helped fill in the blanks for what the teachers thought I knew but didn't. This information helped me to learn how to do some of the things that I needed to know in order to pass my class without me having to spend lots of money on and excel book or a tutor.

A nicely presented overview of the way Excel can be used. A great refresher and cheat sheet for those who are a bit rusty and have not used it in a while.

I read this book out of curiousity as to what Ian would be presenting. I am not a beginner to Excel or Google Sheets, so I was looking at this from the perspective of someone who knew what he was doing. Is this a good book for beginners? I'd say it is. It's instructive, step by step, and teaches you everything you need to know if you were just starting out. My only qualm would be that this information is freely available on the internet. Particularly people who would use Google Sheets might be more inclined to just google what they need to know. It's a good reference book for people that need a tangible information guide in front of them.

Excellent basic instructions that even a technophobe like myself can understand clearly. I will soon be a whizz on Excel - hopefully! Thank you.

An excellent quick reference for anyone who wants to learn Excel quickly and easily. Well written and easy to follow. The best part is that you can refer to it over and over as needed. If you get stuck the answers are easy to find and simple to follow. A great guide for the Excel newbie.

Good cheat sheet. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest opinion. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review

This is a book you can gift /recommend to someone getting started on Microsoft Excel and needs a crash course. The writing style is conversational, which makes it easy to follow, comprehened and retain. Though the book is a short and quick read, it still gives you multiple ways of doing the Excel basics whilst mentioning when to use which method. And off course you will end up liking the ninja tips and will see it as a must read as these are your potential excel time savers.

The full title is Excel Basics In 30 Minutes: The beginner’s guide to Microsoft Excel, Excel Online, and Google Sheets. The title both under-promises and over-promises. I felt I got the basics down in an hour or so. But there are several topics in the book that I consider more than basic but someone who wants to do a good bit with Excel might consider basic. It is good that the author decided to include Google Sheets. I happen to have Excel on my computer but many people do not and find Google Sheets a good option.

This review is based on an advance reader copy (ARC) from NetGalley ( https://www.netgalley.com/ .) I thank them for the chance to read and review this book. My experience is based on an ARC that I read on my Kindle.

Although the book is called Excel Basics In 30 Minutes (3rd Edition) it took me more than 30 minutes and I did not even do the whole thing. There were parts that did not interest me and I felt I should just skip these parts. But that just reflects my situation and some might want to spend the time to do it all.

I think this is an excellent introductory guide and reference book. If at some point I want to learn more about Excel or just refresh my memory on some tasks, I would probably buy this book. I think I would buy a print book rather than a kindle version since I find print books easier to use if I need to refer to different sections of the book.

I received a complimentary review copy of #ExcelBasicsIn30Minutes3rdEdition from #NetGalley

This is a great guide for those who want to learn more about using Excel optimally (or just an update on the new version), people who are familiar with PC Excel but not online Excel (and vice versa), and people who use Google Sheets. The directions are very concise but at the same time also conversational and easy to read.

I was always kind if scared about Excel. Not after using this book. Now after an easy introduction I consider myself a Pro!!!
