Wooo! My brain feels like it’s on tumble dry.
I just finished My Perfect Wife by Clare Boyd and I loved it! The story alternates in perspective between two women, the wife, Elizabeth and the help, who knew the husband in a past life, Heather. Add in Heather’s parents who live next door to Elizabeth and an immigrant couple, who all work for Elizabeth and her husband and you have a recipe for a game of two truths and a lie! That’s all I’m going to say, you’re going to have to read this for yourself!
This was my first book by Clare Boyd, but it will not be the last! I am picking up her other books right now!!! Eeeeekkk! So excited!!!

Thank you NetGally, Clare Boyd, and Bookouture for this ARC!

I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting , for me , it wasn't quite as good as Clare's previous two but still fast paced and entertaining . When Heather steps in to help her dad to get the grounds ready for the Huxley's summer party she does not realise that the past will be raked up , Elizabeth and Lucas Huxley seemingly have it all , a fantastic house , 2 adorable children . They are throwing a summer party to entice investors to prevent Lucas's firm folding . Elizabeth is very highly strung and takes an instant dislike to Heather as she knows that Heather and Lucas have history . With long buried secrets coming out in the open , Heather finds out that she can't even trust her own family . Entertaining !! 4 stars

I’m conflicted. This is more of a domestic thriller about a dysfunctional woman, Elizabeth, or so we are led to believe. There was a great sense of foreboding from the beginning to the end but no discernible twists or really anything revealed. I enjoyed reading it as the characters were well written but I didn’t care about them. The ending was confusing and although it was a fast read I was expecting more.

I thought this was a thriller, but its more of a domestic drama.

We meet Heather, Elizabeth, and Lucas, a really messed up unlikable bunch of people.
Lucas and Heather share a distant past, but now he is married to Elizabeth and they seem to have a picture perfect marriage, or do they?

The rest is a mixture of lies, deceit, secrets, and toxic relations just to name a few.
I wouldn't say there was much suspense, at least for me, although the party and its aftermath did push the action forward.

The ending didn't really provide closure, so I was left with more questions than answers.

It's really 3.5**** but rounded up to 4 as I stayed with it till the end.

Thanks Netgalley, Bookouture, and Clare Boyd for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

This was one crazy ass book. Imagine the contents of a dark witch's cauldron with everything evil put in it, and just a dash of goodness, and you'd get this swirling tale where nothing was real, but nothing was imaginary too. Everything lay in the twilight zone, and I sincerely couldn't believe my eyes at what I was reading. Clare Boyd is one crazy ass chick!! All complimentary!! Writing this review while thrown on my ass by the twists in the story which had me still wondering - what had I just read?

Three main characters Elizabeth, Lucas, Heather, two were married and the third was the help. Many side characters a Polish couple and Heather's parents. They were all stuck in a strange dance in the flowing mist where the steps were known only to them and to the author. I could just part my way through them and get a glimpse of what was happening in their lives.

Told primarily from the wife Elizabeth's POV, whereby she spoke of many things, false and real, this book rocked the roots of my storytelling foundation. I had this weird feeling in my stomach even minutes after reading the book. Clare Boyd sure made my insides roil with doubt about all the characters as I read down the pages.

Each character presented me with many statements which had me trusting them one moment, then disbelieving all that I read the other. Everything the author wrote was like the wood smoke; they burned my eyes yet gave me clarity. Until the last line of the book, I genuinely didn't know who was telling me the truth.

With the last line, everything else fell wayward, and I could take a deep breath to cleanse the air of doubts within me and write this review. You have to read it to believe this author's tale. Wow!!

Where to start with this one? I feel like there was great potential for this book in the beginning. But at 47% (after the party) it all fell apart for me. All of the characters were crazy except for Elizabeth’s brother whom I had assumed would end up with Heather but then just disappeared. The ending was bizarre in that it seemed like a happily ever after ending but there is no way anyone was happy. I don’t know what happened here really. There were strong characters to start and then they all fell apart.

wow, this was unputtdownable! There was deceit, paranoia, toxic relationships, lies and a twist! Highly recommend. Not only was the plot delicious but the writing was so detailed that I could picture the house and the pool perfectly.
Thank you Netgalley, the author and the publisher - Bookcouture - for my free ARC in exchange for my honest review.
4.5 stars!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. This is an really fun and suspenseful domestic thriller that will keep you turning the pages long after you should be in bed. I am loving the alternating POV storylines that have become so popular lately in these type of books.

Heather, Lucas and Elizabeth. So may stories and so many lies. The question is who is lying and who isn't. Heather who moved back home to help her father, has a past with Lucas, but that is years ago. Elizabeth is his picture perfect wife and together they have a picture perfect life....or do they? Get drawn into the secrets and lies and be prepared for an ending that I promise you won't see coming.

I loved the other Clare Boyd book I read, so I was excited to read her latest one. My Perfect Wife sounded like an amazing thriller based on the blurb, so I couldn’t wait to start reading it. Unfortunately this one didn’t quite do it for me. It really wasn’t a thriller at all, it was more just a novel about a bunch of really messed up people. There wasn’t really any actual suspense till the end where it finally picked up a bit. If I hadn’t gone into it expecting a thriller, it might have been less disappointing.

3-4 stars. I’m not excellently sure how I feel about this book. While, it was a decent read, I didn’t find it very thrilling. It was chilling, with a lot of very devious characters. It makes you wonder exactly what happened, when, how, why, who was involved, is still, etc.. The ending really didn’t seem to bring this to a close for me, which I felt frustrated about. I think the first half or more of the book was more of a dramatic story, with some secrets hidden within, but nothing too chilling. The party night offered a bit more chills, then after a bit more, but I never got huge thrills! Overall, I would recommend if you are looking for more of a domestic suspense that you can decide what you feel fits best at the end.
Will make sure to review on all the different platforms!

My Perfect Wife is a page turner that keeps you guessing.

Who do you believe : Heather, Elizabeth, Lucas?

Lucas can be charming but something isnt quite right or are we being misled by his wife Elizabeth.

Lucas and Heather have a past but that was years ago.

You will just have to read the book to find out.

You wont see the ending coming.

This was my first Clare Boyd book but it wont be me last.

Thorougly entertaining.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunitiy to read The Perfect Wife.

This was my first book by Clare Boyd and most likely won’t be my last. My Perfect Wife was a a solid page turner that flirted on the dark side, right up my alley. I really enjoyed it.

Heather travels to help her father work on the Huxley's garden, at Copper Lodge, leaving her boyfriend, Rob, behind. Heather had known Lucas Huxley when she was a young teen. (Perhaps the crush remains?)

Elizabeth Huxley has problems. She is married to well-to-do Lucas. The reader is led to believe he is abusive and definitely controlling. Also, it seems as if Elizabeth may have a past with mental health problems. ( Is Lucas holding this over her head?)

A party that could make (or break) Lucas money - is in the works for the 4th of July weekend. Lucas needs the Seacrests to sponsor his work. Or, for their money, at least!

By this time a number of scenarios has the reader in suspense - what happened between Elizabeth and Lucas? Why does Elizabeth constantly try to get Heather in trouble? And much more...

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a twisty ride!

There's no smoke without fire 🔥

My Perfect Wife is written from both Heather and Elizabeth's perspective, alternating between both for each chapter.

Heather moved back home to work with her father at the neighboring house to help with money; Mum's currently away looking after a sick sister. Heathers apprehensive how it will be living with her father again, after all these years.

And then there's Elizabeth Huxley, the neighbor. Elizabeth and husband Lucas appear to have a very fraught relationship. Lucas seems very controlling, Elizabeth seems her senses are forever heightened to his moods/reactions, not knowing what they'll be.

Elizabeth has an important party to arrange, in addition to a barn conversions in a tight timeframe. There's lots going on in this book between this, dealings with staff, knowledge on what went on before and her own demons to work with.

I've not read any books by this author before, but definitely would again. Plenty of smoke and mirrors, just when you think you've got someone sussed, something happens to make you doubt it, then you could go back again with that same character... well written, a read you'll not want to put down.

My Perfect Wife just didn’t work for me. The start didn’t grip me and I found myself constantly looking for distractions. Continued to just over 20% and I’m still lost.
Disappointing since synopsis sounded great.

Heather has returned to Copper Lodge. The gardener’s daughter is there to help the home’s owners, Elizabeth and Lucas Huxley throw a huge party. Elizabeth needs the evening to be a success so she can prove to her husband that she has moved on after a trauma sent her over the edge. The stakes couldn’t be higher, if she can’t prove she’s well, her husband will take her children away. Meanwhile, Heather wants to do her job as far from the Huxley’s as possible, but the Lodge, and its past, is a beacon pulling her ever closer. What happens when these characters come together is nothing less than explosive

This author really has the knack of creating stories where you don't know who to believe, who to feel sorry for, who to blame, who is sane and who is crazy and she proves it once again.

She is like an illusionist, using smoke and mirrors to make us believe one thing while we should believe the oppostie, to make us think one thing while we should realise something else. But we don't see it and that's how good she is.

And then comes karma ... Even the best liars don't stand a chance with her in the neighbourhood. :)

One moment I thought I saw through it, concluding a bit later that I was wrong. After a while I was convinced that this time I really was looking the facts in the face ... Alas ;)

I enjoyed this book. 4 stars.

Thank you, Clare Boyd and Bookouture.
