A special agent loses his love in an undercover mission. Years later his lost love , back from the dead, is caught up with one of his deadliest enemies. They try to work through the lost ten years and bring down the monster together.

A third of the way in to this book I was like really?? He is trying to control her and it’s weird... it felt out of place in the whole story. However I kept reading it and by the end I was super anxious to find out how it concluded. Good read .. probably not one I would read again.

Thank you netgalley for the advance copy and Sheri Landry. As soon as I read this, I checked to see if you had written others! This was a page turning thriller! All that Jessa's had to go through in order to figure out her past. How her past and her future came together with the one person she didn't think would be the one to help her.
Special Agent Jack, who thought she had died years ago. To learn that she was alive and had the answers to so many questions he has. Also Jessa had to trust that Jack was in it to help her and not to just solve the mystery.
A must read! Warning- there are some explicit parts in the book. Can't wait for the next novel!

Interesting plot and execution, however, I was able to figure out the end. Still, I enjoyed the book. The switching from Jack to Jess got the individual points-of-view across effectively for me. My solving of the mystery did not lessen my enjoyment of the book.

Description
Ten years ago, a covert government operation gone wrong separated Jack from Jessa, the girl he promised he would never leave. Now, face-to-face and standing on opposite sides of the law from each other, if they can’t reconcile their differences, they may pay the ultimate price. Years of hiding taught Jessa to trust no one. And left to fend for herself after a violent attack a decade earlier killed her family, she’s resorted to working highly illegal hacking contracts. But when she is captured by the man she thought had vanished, Jessa fears her former ally may have betrayed her. Special Operations Agent Jack never got over the death of the woman he loved while working undercover. Horrified to learn she survived only to endure brutal torture at the hands of a vicious criminal mastermind, he worries he won’t regain her confidence. But with a deadly rival closing in, the determined operative will have to pull out all the stops to protect her from more heartless violence. Backed into a corner, Jessa is forced to place her faith in Jack to help her recover the suppressed memories key to nailing their mutual adversary. But with her deeply ingrained trauma, Jack fears it could cost her what’s left of her sanity.

My Review

Exit Plan is the first book in the Kill Code Thriller Series. A dark suspenseful novel with well-crafted characters. The books keeps you on your edge with enough twists and turns to make this a great suspenseful novel.

This book was provided in exchange for my honest opinion. If you enjoy suspenseful, dark story-lines then this is the book for you. I highly recommend Exit Plan.

Two people who have very challenging past put together and find themselves more challenged. It’s a romance filled of darkness and discovery. Some plot can be predictable but overall great book.

Jack is currently working (with his partner, Logan) with their own ops and security company. At the moment their main target is "Zane" and secondly, "Jay". Their current intel has led them to dismantle Maxwell Sparr's hacking, fraud and treason against the government.

However, Jack has another reason to do this - and it is personal. His love, Jessa, from ten years ago. This from when Jack worked as an undercover HS student. Jessa is dead due to Maxwell and his father's shady operations.

On a stakeout in Kentucky, Jack recognizes two women. Are they actually working as operatives for Zane and Maxwell? And can they really be who Jack believes they are? Either way, they are taken in as "prisoners" and then the real excitement begins!

A very suspenseful thriller with excellent character development. The story moves quickly with both action and determination. I really enjoyed this read and wait for the next book by Sheri Landry.

Many Thanks to Sheri Landry and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

I received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you author Sheri Landry and Netgalley. The book releases April 2020.

Deliciously dark, this book reminds me for some reason of the 1980s movie Tequila Sunrise (except with hackers instead of drug dealers). Both leading men are Alpha males with secrets. Throw in a corrupt crime syndicate and smokin' hot tension between Tessa and Jack and you have a winner! I love his control issues. This would've been a hit 80s era show. The vibe and verbiage are certainly right for it. Although the prologue and first three chapters are dense and somewhat awkward with backstory, by chapter 11 I was hooked. If you can get passed the beginning the rest of the book flows wonderfully. It bothers me a bit that Jack, even with the 5 year age difference, as a special ops undercover federal official, has no guilt or ethical qualms about having sex with a high school student. It does, however, give him that bad boy with a big heart appeal. I think his character would be more sympathetic if he expressed some professional struggle with his feelings about Jessa during that high school period. I got hung up a bit on that in the beginning. I sincerely hated Logan all the way around. From his toxic way of addressing the ladies in the beginning to his pushing Jessa near the end, I hope he ends up getting his own book where he gets all "tied up" figuratively speaking of course. I'd love to see him in love.

Even though I wouldn't classify this as a dark romance, I think this book would benefit from a trigger warning. Jessa's past rape is handled well in the book but Logan's hostile way of dealing with her, along with the bdsm elements should be noted in the synopsis. Overall, the initial flow issues aside, I loved the book. The action, the hot men and Jessa overcoming her past. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.
