Angie owns a farm to table restaurant in a small town outside of Boise, Idaho. She seems to have a knack for stumbling onto murder scenes and getting involved in solving them. In this book, Angie and her employees (she considers them family) are participating in a cooking contest at the state fair. After each day’s competition, three restaurants will be eliminated. But after the first day, the winning chef is permanently eliminated by being murdered. Angie gets involved while dealing with her restaurant, the contest, and her employees. As friends and employees fall ill from heat stroke and poison, Angie is determined to figure this out.
Lynn Cahoon writes three different series about strong women who find themselves embroiled in murder cases. They are quick and easy reads. As you get to know the characters, you feel like you are part of their “family”. I am always happy to find the next installment in any of her series.

This was a very nice read. I enjoyed the mystery, the setting and the characters. The mystery kept me guessing the entire time. I've come to the series late, but it hasn't impacted my enjoyment.

Deep Fried Revenge is fourth book in the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. This was a fun book about restaurant owner and chef Angie Turner, her business partner and their employees. Angie entered her restaurant in a state fair best restaurant contest. After the winner of the first round in the multi-day contest is found dead, and the second day’s winner’s husband is poisoned, Angie steps in to attempt to find the killer, and nearly gets killed herself on the day she wins the contest. The mystery has a well thought out plot and the characters are very likable and realistic. Until almost the end of the book I had lots of suspects in mind, but the ending was a surprise. I have not read the first books in this series, and did not have any trouble following the story. If you like cozy mysteries, you will like this book. The characters are well rounded and well developed. I really enjoy how well Angie and all of the crew get along. Even though they are not related, they act like a family. They help each other, they worry about each other and they love each other.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly by their words and actions. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and those descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. The mystery was well crafted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I am looking forward to reading the next one.

This is the fourth installment. The books do not need to be read in order but I would to get a better understanding of the relationships between the main characters. I enjoy seeing them grow and expand their wings.

This story had a few sub-plots. At first I wasn't sure who had committed the murder of why. They say the spouse is always a suspect.

I really liked the community concern for Bleak. I was routing for her and the Angie's team of friends to pull through for her.

As the story progressed there were plenty of suspects and reasons. Upon the reveal, I don't think the motives for the other deaths were adequately explained. I feel a little let down.

This is the first book that I’ve read in this series. It stands alone. I love the great cast of characters and look forward to learning more about them. The storyline is involved and holds your interest. Lynn Cahoon is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors.

This was another wonderful visit in River Vista, Idaho with Angie Turner, her boyfriend Ian McNeal, his uncle Sheriff Allen Brown, and her work family from the County Seat - Felicia Williams, Estebe (sous chef), Matt Young (line cook), Hope Anderson (culinary student/dishwasher).

Of course, Dom - Angie's lovable Saint Bernard is back as well as Mabel the hen and Precious the goat.

A new character is introduced Magenta Bleak Hubbard, a 16 year-old runaway from Utah that is taken in by Sheriff Brown and his wife Maggie.

It's Fair Week in River Vista and the gang from the County Seat are competing in the "Restaurant Wars" competition where the prize is $5,000. Three teams are to be eliminated in each round - these are Appetizer, Frozen Drink, Main Course and Dessert.

Someone is not playing nice when winners of each round have something happen to them. Competing are Sandpiper with head chef David Nubbins, Fenny's Pies with owner Sarah Fenny, Copper Creek with head chef Sydney Cook, Bien Viveres with head chef Miquel Montoya, The Black Angus with chef Rider James, Tara's Tea House with owner Tara McKnight and of course the team from the County Seat. All of the contestants seem to have something in their past that they want to hide. The killer seems to have access to the judges' results before they are announced to the winners.

This book would have been 5 stars if the end of the book was not left very much up in the air. We did not learn the fate of Magenta Bleak Hubbard, nor do we know what will happen to the land that Angie and Mrs Potter's homes lie on. Hopefully the next book in the series will be available soon so that we don't forget these points and need to re-read and refresh our memories on the plot of this book.

Angie and the team are back, this time participating in a contest at the county fair. It was interesting to read about the behind-the-scenes at a restaurant, as always, and about what goes on during a contest at the fair. I like the interactions between the characters and the easy way they move around each other, especially split between the restaurant and fair. Two plot lines were woven into a story that kept my attention right to the end. I never did guess who the murderer was. The pacing was good and the dialog natural. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one!

Overall enjoyable, but I do wish she took the time to give more info on all the side stories, like Bleak! Or what the heck happened to the soybean farm buyer‽‽ I also felt like the ending was quite rushed, I ended the book quite confused.

Deep Fried Revenge is a wonderful addition to Lynn Cahoon’s engaging Farm-to-Fork mystery series. While I have enjoyed the prior books in the series, this installment, with its tight focus on mystery and hometown flair, might be the best one yet.

Angie Turner and her crew are taking part in a Chopped-style restaurant competition at the Idaho State Fair, where the winners advance, and lower-ranked contestants are eliminated from competition after each of four rounds. The competition format is turned on its head, however, when the winners of each of the first two rounds end up being eliminated – permanently. In order to survive in the competition (and likely outside it), Angie and her team get set to track down a killer.

I really enjoyed the format of this mystery. The restaurant competition seemed to naturally flow from both the State Fair atmosphere and from our current fascination with culinary competition shows. The mystery was well-plotted, with strong suspects and intriguing clues. And the characters, both primary and secondary, brought depth and charm to the book. As always, Angie is an appealing character, possessing intelligence and common sense in equal measure. Estebe is rock-solid as well, as is Ian, whose relationship with Angie keeps getting stronger. The addition of Bleak was a welcome one, bringing a bit of social realism to the story.

In Deep Fried Revenge (and its predecessor novella, Have a Deadly New Year), Lynn Cahoon has taken what was a good series and made it shine. I can’t wait to see what adventures await Angie and her team in the next installment.

Deep Fried Revenge is the fourth book in Lynn Cahoon’s Farm-to-Fork Mystery Series. The well-developed characters are fun and likable, and the story flows smoothly at a steady pace. The story has a nice mix of intriguing mystery, investigating, daily life, friendship, and family. The mystery is interesting, and the twists and red herrings kept me guessing until the reveal.

When Angie Turner’s grandmother passed away, Angie inherited her farmhouse in River Vista, Idaho, Angie and Felicia Williams, her best friend, decided to open The County Seat, a farm-to-table restaurant. Angie is the head chef and in charge of the kitchen staff, and Felicia, who lives in the apartment above the restaurant, is in charge of the front of the restaurant, the servers, and the bar. They have a great staff that feels like family, and the restaurant is doing well. Angie has a St. Bernard named Dom, a goat named Precious, and a chicken named Mabel. Angie’s dating Ian McNeal, the owner/manager of the River Vista Farmers’ Market and an organizer and activist for the community, and Felicia and Estebe Blackstone, the sous chef, are also dating. The Country Seat is participating in the best restaurant competition during the state fair. When the first-round winner is announced, Chef David Nubbins fails to appear, and one of his prep chefs finds him deceased in his trailer. Fear flows through the remaining competitors once it’s determined that Chef Nubbins was poisoned. Ian and his uncle, Sheriff Allen Brown, worry about Angie’s tendency to try to help solve murders, but Allen appreciates the fact that she keeps him appraised of the things she discovers.

Cute cozy mystery. I enjoyed the hunt for the killer. Angie, Ian and crew were great. Lots of characters and things happening.

a fun filled fair turns in chaos with a murder. The way the author sets up the characters and the mystery is so perfectly written, the reader will not guess the murderer until the very end. Every clue is so craftily given it almost seems like it can point to everyone. A delicious addition to a wonderful series.

This is the fourth book in the Farm-to-Fork mystery series by Lynn Cahoon.

Angie Turner has a lot on her plate in this latest installment. She is not only participating in the restaurant wars Best Restaurant culinary challenge put on by the State Fair but dives into the mystery when one of the cooks in the competition is killed.

I really enjoyed the play between Angie and Ian in this one. It felt more real and more poignant this time around. Definitely one of my favorite books in the series, for sure!

I was surprised there wasn’t more of the restaurant wars stuff but that really did take a backseat to all the fair festivities, the bad guys and the craziness going on all around them.

It was a really fun ride and will definitely make readers want to read all the previous books in the Farm-to-Fork series. The action never stopped and I wasn’t bored one iota. It was edge-of-my-seat thrills all the way through. Can’t wait for book five!

This is a solid cozy series. I think the cooking competition/ murder is overdone (no pun intended) but Ms. Cahoon always comes through with a good whodunit.

DEEP FRIED REVENGE, the fourth book in the Farm-to-Fork Mysteries by Lynn Cahoon, is another strong addition to a highly enjoyable series! The protagonist, Angie Turner, is co-owner of the County Seat restaurant with her best friend, Felicia. Their banter with the restaurant employees is pure entertainment and I greatly appreciate the way they treat each and every one of them as family. Thrown into the mix in this newest release is a runaway teen, Bleak (I know, a sad, sad name...). Angie and her team show their true worth as they take the girl into their midst and show her heartwarming kindness and help create a stable life for the girl. One of Ms. Cahoon’s greatest strengths is character development for all of the players in the book. It helps the reader connect to and feel invested in the story as it unfolds. Not only are the human characters well-developed, but the animal characters also have their individual personalities, like Dom, the adorable St. Bernard, Precious the goat, and Mabel the chicken. Their antics adds a layer of humor to the book.

In addition to fun characters, Ms. Cahoon writes a compelling mystery set at the Boise, Idaho fair. The reader is treated to the sights, sounds, smells, and especially tastes of the setting with the author’s vivid descriptive passages. Taking place at the fair is a Restaurant Wars / Top Chef type of competition. Since I love watching those types of shows, I found it entertaining reading about Angie’s participation in the multi-day event and about all the work that goes into preparing for that kind of contest. But the fun and games comes to an end when one of the chefs competing is poisoned after winning the first round and another chef falls gravely ill after winning the second round. Tantalizing clues are sprinkled throughout the book as Angie starts asking questions and the author adds twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Ms. Cahoon writes a roller coaster worthy ending that had me sitting on the edge of my seat until I’d read the very last page.

One of the things I admire about the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series is the downhome food served at the County Seat. Ms. Cahoon writes such enticing descriptions of the delectable dishes it makes me want to call for a reservation. She does include a family recipe at the back of the book and I am anxious to try it.

There are two secondary story lines as well, one involves a runaway teen named Bleak with a mysterious backstory. Angie and her friends must figure out why she's really ended up on the streets so they can keep her safe. It's also a test for Angie's people skills, trying herself to become more open and welcoming. The other story involves a new man in the community who is buying property around town. He has his sights st on Angie's farm and I'm sure we'll be hearing more about him in future books. I always appreciate a secondary story that is weaved into a cozy series, as it adds a lot of substance to the books and really helps you connect more deeply to the characters. It's something Lynn Cahoon does really well with her series.

I love the interactions between Angie and her team. As someone who works in the restaurant business, you become family with your co-workers and you really see that in this series. The mystery was layered and not overly obvious which is always a plus and this was one of my favorite books of the series!

Angie Turner and the staff of The County Seat are participating in a new challenge. They’re competing in a themed competition against other regional restaurants at the Idaho State Fair. During the first two rounds, the competition becomes a matter of life and death as each round’s winner is attacked. This leaves everyone else a little relieved to fall short of the top slot for the first two rounds. With a week of business-as-usual before the final two rounds, Angie has plenty of time to investigate the attacks. Is the competition or something more personal motivating the bad actor? This time local Sheriff is happy to encourage Angie’s investigation as the State Fairgrounds is out of his jurisdiction, and the investigators in charge are going to great lengths to classify the incidents as accidents. In the meantime, several enigmatic figures enter Angie’s life.

I liked this book and enjoy the series. I recommend this book to fans of the series. I recommend the series to fans of Lynn Cahoon and of foodie/diner/restaurant cozy mysteries featuring murder, organic food, new businesses, small towns, small farms, animals with strong personalities, and good friends.
