Well, this book was certainly a pleasant surprise! I’ve never read a Debra Webb book before, so I didn’t know what to expect. The book is billed as the double homicide of Daniel Webb and his mother-in-law, and the disappearance of his pregnant wife Sela. The investigation is led by harried Detective Kerri Devlin whose former partner and mentor has retired, and now she’s been saddled with a new partner, rebel Detective Luke Falco. The pressure is great to solve this case and to make matters worse, her manipulative ex-husband wants custody of their thirteen-year-old daughter Tori.

The suspects begin to pile up, including a number of high-profile local citizens who have many secrets to protect. In addition, her own niece Amelia goes missing and it seems she is attached to the case as well. As the case intensifies, Devlin must decide who to trust. Will her new partner prove to be trustworthy?

The first part of this book was a slow build, mostly character building, and there were a lot of characters, so many that I had trouble keeping them straight at times. Around the halfway mark it really picked up the pace and I was hooked up until the climatic end. I will be checking out her backlist for sure.

This was good. I enjoys the twisted turns plot. This is a must read for anyone that loves a good suspense or mystery. The author really gets into it with the characters. I connected with these characters and didn’t want this book to end. I don’t want to give away any details of the story but it definitely keeps you turning till the very end. The end is amazing!

This is an intense and emotional thrill for a whodunnit! Well written with wonderful characters. MC Detective Kerri Devlin is working on a double homicide case while going through some heavy personal issues at home. How does she keep it together?! There are a few twists, a bit predictable too but overall suspenseful. Thank you to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for an ebook ARC. This is my honest review.

This was pretty good for the most part. There seemed like a lot going on, quite a few POV characters, and I had a hard time keeping track of all the pieces. Maybe this was more reflective of my state of mind than the actual story. I just had a hard time connecting with any of the characters or sympathizing with their issues. Everyone was kind of messed up.

That being said, I think the plot itself was an interesting one. I always take a certain interest in crime fiction on a level of looking at a crime and following the evidence to solve it.

Here, we have a double murder and a 3rd missing person who no one knows if she's alive or dead, if she's a victim or a suspect, and oh, by the way, she's pregnant. Her husband and mother in law are the unfortunate victims. So that aspect alone makes it at least a bit intriguing, if only to find out how she's involved and what actually happened.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Debra Webb knows how to write suspense. The book starts off with a double homicide of Daniel Webb and his mother in law, his pregnant wife if missing. Devlin is leading the investigation with her new partner Falco. This book takes off and keeps the reader flipping pages. Great read!

Little did I know when I downloaded Trust No One as a prime first read that suddenly it would be available for review on NetGalley. I've read many of Webb''s books and she never disappoints. With each novel her characters and stories get better and better . This first novel in her Devlin and Falco series will have me waiting for the next. Kerri Devlin and her new partner Falco are investigating a double homicide of one of Birmingham's elite families,. There are all these clues and suspects and questions of how each ties into the next. The influential members that they find themselves investigating have a bit of a pull in the offices of the city and make their job even harder. Who are these lawyers and their wives and their girlfriends? What is everyone hiding and who is the person(s) behind the events. Surprises and connections will keep you interested in finding out what will happen next and why. One of the brightest elements of the novel is the development of the characters, the story of Devlin's family, and the introduction to Falco who has an interesting past to share. They make quite a team.

A well done thriller with an excellent protagonist in Kerri Devlin, who struggles not only to find a villain but also to deal with her ex and her kid. She's relatable and likable. There are enough twists here to keep veteran thriller readers guessing and the storytelling is smooth. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A page turner!

Debra Web bring together a pair of police detectives that are about to take on the dark seedy underbelly of their city while trying to figure out this new partnership.
Trust No One is your typical conspiracy thriller but with the flare of Debra Webbs characters that are both honest and true to the person they become.

The story has it moments of Oh Crap as well as yea I saw that coming. the character development from Detective Kerri Devlin and her martial issues that feel so personal readers will feel her pain. The personal issues that will almost take Kerri Devlin to her knees only brings her back fighting harder for the truth.

Trust No One isn't just a dark conspiracy thriller on politics but has head soul and love that readers will not be able to get enough.

Thank you to the Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Debra Webb Trust No One.

I really enjoyed Trust No One. Devlin was a compelling and believable character, although perhaps it might have been interesting to spend longer exploring the dynamic of her relationship with Falco, gaining each other's trust.

The story itself is a classic murder mystery, with lots of elements that you can kind of see coming, but at the same time, I did find myself intrigued by the story and very drawn in. The chapters written from the first person perspective of someone in the know were an interesting element too.

Anyway, as a fairly easy read with some keep you guessing moments, this is a good shout.

If Debra Webb is the author, then I want to read her books. I enjoyed this novel. It took a minute to grasp all the different characters and their purpose because there were several, but once I got that straighten out, this book became a true thriller. I was dying to get to the end and see how it all played out. Debra Webb did a great job with character creation and, in my opinion, she created a very smart vigilante seeking revenge to those that did wrong. This is another story with several different parallel narratives and each one is intriguing and a bit mysterious to keep you roped in. I liked the relationship that built between the 2 detectives, Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco. Now I wonder if their relationship would have became something more than partners working together on the field; perhaps something even more than just friends. There are lots of twist and turns and I think this could even be a great series for the 2 detectives. I hope Debra Webb does another story with Devin and Falco. These 2 are a great duo who aren't scared to take chances and go after the bad guy.

This has thousands of ratings and hundreds of reviews, so I can't add any helpful new opinions at this point. So I'll just recommend it to mystery/thriller fans that haven't already read it. This author is a solid bet.

I really appreciate the review copy!!

If Debra Webb is the author, I want to read the book. However, somehow this book got archived before I downloaded on NetGalley. But I really wanted to read it and was planning on purchasing it for review. When I went on Amazon, I discovered that it is on Kindle Unlimited as an ebook and an audiobook. To say that I was pleased is an understatement.

Daniel Abbott and his mother-in-law have been shot to death. and Daniel's wife is missing. Was she the killer, and if she is, then where has she disappeared to? Detective Kerri Devlin has been assigned the case at a time that her life is upside down. She is struggling with her cheating ex-husband and also having difficulties with her daughter, Victoria. They are always knocking heads and that is where Kerri needs to focus her attention right now. However, that is just not possible. She must find the missing Mrs. Abbott and find out who is responsible for the murders.

Kerri's partner is detective Luke Falco. The two turn over every stone possible in order to work the case. As they do so they find that some of the upper echelon in Birmingham have secrets and these secrets are multilayered. How is the apparent corruption tied in with the murders? Will they ever find Mrs. Abbott alive, or will they soon find her body?

What a thrilling book! It was full of twists and turns and ended up getting very close to Kerri's personal life. Something is going on and whatever it is, the reach is very far. Kerri and Falco must work feverishly hard to solve this case.

This thrilling story lays the groundwork for what will no doubt be an exciting series. As Kerri and Falco work together, we learn what makes them tick, learns snippets of their pasts and easily see how well they are paired together. Oddly enough I couldn't help but think of early Benson and Stabler from Law & Order: SVU. I love it when partners can read each other and we definitely get to see this in Trust No One.

This makes the seventh book I have read by Webb and I definitely got what I was looking for, a very well-written story with compelling characters and an exciting storyline. I am looking forward to continuing this new series with Gone Too Far, set for release in April. I will be stalking NetGalley for an early release read. And, as time permits, I will reading books from Webb's backlist.

Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Trust No One by Debra Webb is a non-stop thriller! I am very impressed with the thought, planning, and strategy the anonymous narrator had put into place to achieve her end game. The opening chapter has heart-stopping action for Detective Kerri Devlin. I love that the setting is so familiar to me in Mountainbrook/Birmingham, Alabama. As I finished this first chapter I could not determine how Devlin would be able to explain this shooting and retain her freedom.
Devlin is given a new partner, Detective Luke Falco, who had been working deep undercover for years. She feels he is an irresponsible detective and is reluctant to work with him. They are called to the home of Ben Abbott who has been murdered in his sleep, his pregnant wife is missing, and her mother was killed trying to hide in the nursery. In the city of Birmingham, Alabama, the Abbotts are among the most influential residents. Soon Devlin and Falco will be investigating not only the Abbott family but also the Thompsons and law firms associated with the families.
Devlin is having problems with her daughter Victoria and her ex-husband, Nick. The case takes an unexpected turn as Devlin's sister Diana, her niece Amelia, and their family friend Jan are all entangled into this investigation. The results for one of these family members is very upsetting!
I loved this book! I will be reading more by author Debra Webb and hope there is more with Devlin and Falco in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Thank you NetGalley & the publisher for gifting me a copy of those book. This review is my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5/5 Stars

Wow. That is my first thought as I closed the the “cover” on this one. Trust No One is a suspenseful murder mystery involving the elite of Birmingham. As we dive into this story, we’re lead on a wild goose chase; each answer solved just reveals two more questions. Nothing in Birmingham is quite as it initially seems. This is a tangled web of secrets, including even Detective Devlin's own family.

I really enjoyed the foreshadowing right at the start. You KNOW something is going to happen and it keeps you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure out HOW it’ll happen. I also really enjoyed the additional POV from the victim/suspect, it added an extra level of suspense and mystery.

My only complaint about the book was the ending. I closed the book with some unanswered questions and wish that we had been given a bit more into what REALLY transpired. With that said, I have a feeling that it was done that way intentionally.

This book is available FREE on KindleUnlimited right now. I highly recommend checking it out!

Sadly, this was a DNF for me at about 46%. I didn't connect with the characters or storyline, but I appreciate the opportunity to give my honest feedback. I have read a few other novels by Debra and will absolutely continue to support her future work!

The true appeal of this book is the clever way the author has blended a riveting mystery with a dramatic family history. I love mysteries but sometimes the characterisation can suffer as the author focuses on the plot line. Not here - a perfect balance. The plot was not overly complex but not obvious, either - a great book for the plane as will make the time pass quickly!

Thank you Netgalley for an copy of TRUST NO ONE, for a fair and honest review.
I really enjoyed Debra Webb's writing style , her main character is very likable even if she is flawed. I hope to read more with Detective Devlin and Falco, they make a great team. Great read.

I did finish this one, so I must have wanted to know what happened, but I can't say it was a page-turner for me, and I didn't connect with the writing at all.

First and foremost, I found the characters very flat and uninteresting - and there were so many similar suspects that I got confused as to who was who. The two main characters had no spark and I had no interest in or concern for them - if they'd hit the dust, I couldn't have cared less! I might actually have cheered.

Quite an impressive body count - to the extent that it became comical, rather like Midsomer Murders.

My main problem with the writing was its flatness, which was particularly highlighted by the book I read after this one, Little Disasters by Sarah Vaughan - so beautifully and engagingly written, with characters that seemed real, fleshed out people, so I cared immediately about them.

Some more editing needed. Examples below.

This unexpected twist needled at her with new verve.
the attempts to which criminals will go to avoid

An intricate story of love, loss and revenge. Detective Kerri Devlin has been assigned a new partner, Detective Luke Falco. She is not thrilled with training a new detective, especially when their first case is a double homicide. A man and his mother-in-law have been murdered while the man’s pregnant wife is missing. Is she really missing or is she the killer? In addition to her current case, she is a divorced single mother of a teenage girl who is not dealing well with the divorce. As the investigation proceeds, many questions arise about the Birmingham elite and what part they might play in a missing person cold case from fifteen years ago. When Kerri has to make a life or death decision, how will her actions affect her daughter, her family and her career? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
