This is an amusing romantic drama
The story didn’t get going until around a third of the way through the book
The characters were good and the premise was ok

Light summer read. Nothing spectacular unfortunately, but an over all easy book to consume. I would have liked a bit more plot that unfolds a bit more story.

I read half of this and just couldn't make myself read anymore. The cover and blurb were so cute though! I'm clearly in the minority, but i just couldn't get into it.

Only my 2nd book by this author ( and she has written 20) and it was a delight to read. You can't help but like the main character of Becky - put upon and feeling hard done by she embarks on her own adventure. The book follows her in her journey along with a cast of fabulous supporting characters. This was a perfect book to read during lockdown as it transports you to Corfu to escape real life. I was lucky enough to take part in the blog tour for this release.

This was a highly anticipated book of mine, and it was a huge disappointment for me. There was more language than I would have liked, I didn't care for much of the story, and the characters didn't appeal to me. The setting of the book was the only thing that I cared much for. So much of the book dragged on and I wanted to stop reading, but I pushed through for my obligation to read the book. That's the only reason I gave this book the rating I did, since I reserve 1 stars for books I didn't finish.

This was my favorite Mandy Baggot book so far! Her descriptions of Greece make me feel like I'm on vacation everytime I open the book. The characters were lovable, funny and engaging while also having depth and a good story line. This particular love story was so sweet, and the characters seemed to grow as the story went on. I found myself reaching for the book often and struggling to put it back down.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Loved the description of Kefalonia, Athens and Corfu including the local food, drink and Crystal clear waters, so much so I want to holiday there.
Becky Rose has landed a last minute villa sitting job in Corfu, had an eventful flight which included a few stop offs which she shares with her attractive companion, Elias.
Finally reaching the villa only to have Elias turn up too.
I really enjoyed the twists, turns and ultimately happy ending.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get to this book. It certainly is a book that you won’t want to put down. I loved all the characters and where this book took me. A lovely read.

I greatly enjoyed this book, thank you for giving me a preview copy. The plot was interesting and fast paced and I sympathised with the characters. This is the first novel I have read by this author but I hope it will not be the last!

The perfect summer read, loved every minute of it! Since we can't really travel right now, this is such a lovely book. It gives you all the summer holiday vibes you need. Also, I've been two both of the islands in the book, and it's fun to read about them and recognize things. The author was really good in describing it lively. Which makes the book feel more real. I'd say this book is the perfect escape.. sea, sun, lovely food, and some romance, what more could you want?

This was a lovely story with some in depth descriptions of Greece, the Greek Islands, the lovely wee villages and houses etc. etc. Made me want to jump on a plane and head over there.

Becky works for her sister, Megan, in a sandwich shop but while her sister is calling the shots and heading off into the world to drum up new business, Becky is secretly experimenting with different ingredients and making epic combinations that are keeping her clients happy. However, when Megan poo-poos Becky’s ideas, she decides enough is enough and applies to house sit for a woman in Corfu.

Elias is a hot shot divorce lawyer and is heading over to Corfu to try to sweet talk his client’s soon to be ex wife. Conveniently his parents also stay nearby so it’s the perfect opportunity to drop in on them.

While in the airport Becky and Elias’ paths cross and continue to cross throughout their long journey to get to Corfu. Both have been hurt in the past but can feel a spark.

Becky befriends a girl she meets on the plane, Petra. She appears to be afraid of no one and has spent a large proportion of time travelling. She has some great stories to share but clams up when asked about her family.

The book is full of a lot of laughter but also a little sadness. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Fed up with being unappreciated and under valued at work by her sister Morgan, Becky decides to throw caution to the wind for the first time ever. Finding a two-week job house sitting in Corfu Becky heads off on what turns out to be a life changing adventure.

For anyone who has read my book reviews before you may be aware of this, but I always feel I need to mention it in case you are new. I have major Greek wanderlust! It’s a place I have wanted to visit since I was a child after hearing my grandparents speak of trips there and this desire only grew with my love of Shirley Valentine. I love the book, film and have seen the play and its always fuelled my desire. In an ideal world I would love to take a month to tour the Greek islands. This means books set in Greece are like catnip for me and allow me to vicariously travel and explore the country from the comfort of my sofa. I know Mandy Baggot has a large backlist of books, many of which are set in Greece (I have many of these on my book shelves) but this was the first one I have ever read by her and I absolutely loved it.

This book is stunning, I don’t think the cover could scream summer anymore if it tried. The cover matches the inside when it comes to the beauty of the descriptions Mandy uses. She painted such a rich picture of luscious landscape for the reader to enjoy. I could picture the scenes she described so clearly and felt as if I was there with the characters. I also enjoyed that the book spoke of real places and sights as it meant I could look them up and see them for myself, something I love to do when reading. I found myself watching YouTube videos of people exploring Melissani Cave in Kefalonia. We also got a bumper dose of beautiful Greek settings as the characters went to Athens, Kefalonia and Corfu. I have recently become quite interested in Greek mythology and exploring Athens, so I liked that part of this book was set there. It just added some extra sites to my visit list of must visits. Mandy must have had a hoot exploring Greece to capture the setting so well.

I loved the female relationships in this book and how strong the women were. We had Becky who bravely stands up to her sister and travels alone for the first time. I really admired her as that is something, I know I could never do. We then had Becky’s work colleagues Hazel and Shelley who both look after Becky and support her throughout. Shelley, who is slightly crass, inappropriate but completely up front and to the point was one of my favourite characters, I chuckled every time Becky spoke to her. Along the way Becky meets Petra and they form a close almost sisterly bound. To be honest at first, Petra annoyed me, but I come to really love and admire her. She is another brave lady, who we discover has quite a tragic story behind her travelling alone. Finally, we had Megan, Becky’ sister with whom she has a tough relationship. I really enjoyed how their dynamic played out through the book and how Becky’s personal growth led to changes in her relationship with her sister.

I of course cannot discuss this story without talking about the romance. On her travels Becky meets Elias, who just seems to keep popping up wherever she goes. Romance is soon blooming between them and I loved seeing this play out. We got to see them getting to know each other and spent time with them traveling and enjoying the sites and their surroundings. There was a particular day trip they took that gave me strong Shirley Valentine vibes which I appreciated a lot. It was just a very sweet romance and I loved watching their relationship develop.

This was just a top-notch summer romance filled with lots of sightseeing, friendships and laughs. It was a perfect book to spend some time by the pool or in your garden enjoying. I read it during a particularly warm period in the UK and that made it feel all the more summery. Now if you excuse me, I will be off to read some more Mandy Baggot books and add some more great locations I want to explore to my travel wishlist.

This book was such a fun read, there was lots of travel and sightseeing, adventure and romance all while in beautiful greece. At first i didn't like the becky character all that much because she was always so critical of herself, but when she began to slowly change i began to root for her character more. I really disliked becky's sister megan and thought that becky should have stood up to her sister a long time ago. Petra was another character i disliked for her immature and obnoxious behavior. She had no manners and would would just blurt the first thing that popped into her head. Elias is a character i enjoyed reading. He's a successful lawyer who has had trouble getting over the hurt of his past divorce. My favorite part of the book was when elias rescued becky from crashing the boat, it was both exciting and romantic. I really enjoyed the different places that the characters got to visit.

The perfect summer beach read! I'll be revisiting this over and over and cannot wait to purchase a physical copy of the book! It was seriously the cutest, definitely recommend.

Sunshine, friendship & romance. What more can you ask for? How about a flamingo & a bear thing? This book had real laugh out loud moments (such as afore mentioned flamingo & bear thing incident) along with an intertwined story of family, friendship and finding your true self.
I really enjoyed it & could feel the warmth of the sunshine through the words.

In the summer I always love a good chick lit book and place them in Greece or Italy and I will read them. Greece has been on my bucket list for a long time and experiencing Greece through this book was just delightful.

The story line was fabulous and the humor was placed perfectly! I have read a few of Mandy Baggot books and I will definitely read more as they are an enjoyable read that takes you on a wonderful vacation in your mind with her details and descriptions of the country all wrapped around a fabulous romantic tale.

At first, for me, this story seemed too slight and too much in line with the trope, but as I read further I came to feel for the characters and realised that there was more hidden in their depths that was slowly being drawn out by later chapters.
I did appreciate the taste and how dishes can be improved by something that is not the norm expected. Although I had to say the sandwiches did seem unappealing to me and I would try them. But I do experiment with my own cooking and yesterday I added a surprise ingredient to my pasta and crème fraiche plus dish. I make this a lot with different proteins, but often fish based and last night I combined smoked trout with salmon pate and then added the surprise – a dessert pear. Fried in butter and olive oil, first it added a lovely crunch and flavour, plus some paprika, crème fraiche and mascarpone with fresh pasta. The day before I made a chilli with sausages and ham hock and sweetcorn soup for the sauce, and beef stock. I confess, I make up dishes on the sly according to what I have in the kitchen and fridge.
I guess the story ending was expected and in line with a holiday romance that isn’t. It was the emotions and characterisation of the sisters that I most enjoyed.

A great read for a sunny day! It’s a quick one and you will fly through it. I have not read anything by the author before, but as I read more reviews, I know I am in for a treat with the other books by the author.

While some parts of the books were a bit unrealistic, like being a professional house sitter, it made the story also a bit more fun to read. Why read about things you already know about?

Thanks for the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this one!
