I’d never heard of the author before but the blurb sounded like something I’d enjoy. I thought One In Three was great so I will definitely read more by the author. I knew I was going to enjoy this book after the intense opening sequence. A man’s been murdered and the obvious suspects are his current wife and ex-wife so which one is the more obvious or most likely? The chapters alternate between Louise and Caz gradually revealing the hatred between them both despite the public appearances which suggest everything is amicable between Caz, Louise and Andrew. Both women seem to be poisonous and capable of harming each other but does this mean one of them killed Andrew? I loved the fact you never know who to trust thanks to the author’s excellent use of unreliable narration. Caz feels that Andrew still loves Louise and always put her second even though she’s married to him. Louise thinks Caz is turning her children against her. Andrew is tired of all the bitching and madness. There are also interludes of police witness statements of the murder and events leading up to Andrew’s demise. This is well written, compelling and I had a great time reading it.

Loved this psychological thriller it had me gripped from the first page till the last. It had a good plot with plenty of twists and turns to keep me on my toes. This story is told by Caroline who is currently married to Andrew, and Louise who is his ex-wife. Andrew and Louise have two children, Bella and Tolly, Caroline and Andrew have one child Kit, who is around Tolly's age. Louise blames Caroline for breaking up the marriage after Andrew left her one week after she gave birth to their baby.
Caroline had believed the marriage was over by the time she started seeing Andrew. We start with the death of of a main character and watch the story come together. This thriller had me hooked from the beginning and was fast paced up to the end. This was my first Tess Stimson book and I highly recommend and can't wait to read another by her.

This is great psychological thriller that really keeps you guessing.
We find out at the beginning that Andrew has been murdered at a family gathering but who killed him? Both his wife and ex wife are implicated but who stabbed him?
We then find out what happened the weeks leading up to the party from both Louise, the ex wife and also Caz, the new wife’s perspective.
It’s clear there’s no love lost between these two women but their relationship goes from strained to downright hatred over a matter of weeks.
This book really had me hooked as I was desparate to know who killed Andrew and I loved the ending of the book.

I devoured One in Three, with its well-drawn characters, believably complex relationships and relentlessly twisting plot that keeps the reader guessing. Plus, Tess Stimson writes beautifully. I totally loved this book. this is an on the edge of your seat kind of book.

This book was ok but was predictable tbh,if you read say 1 thriller every so often then it may be different but I read lots so sadly wasn’t really for me am afraid

Positives: You just don’t know who or what to believe. You just may change your mind at every turn. I didn’t feel like I could trust the characters or myself to know what was happening!

Negatives: There is a small bit that is predictable but even that takes a turn! If you don’t like flashbacks, then you may not like it.

Recommend?: Absolutely!

Plot: Louise is a divorcee who is hung up on her ex-husband who left her for a woman he cheated on her with named Caz. Understandably, Louise and Caz despise each other. They both do things to make each other look bad and to get Andrew’s love and attention. However, the more they try for his attention, the more they learn that maybe he isn’t worth it.

Then Andrew turns up dead with both Louise and Caz standing over him with blood all over them. In the past recent weeks, they both have argued with him and had ill thoughts towards him. So who killed him? They both seem to have motive.

Thoughts: This story is told through flashbacks and alternating narratives. It starts with the murder then jumps to the characters being interviewed at the police station. Louise and Caz both review the last few weeks but in their point of view. I quite enjoyed, reading from each character’s POV but it made me so confused on who to believe-which I liked!
Lately, I have been reading so many books with unreliable characters. I do not know about you but that makes me like the books a little more. It makes it unpredictable because you have to weave through the lies and deceit to see what is real. I had NO idea most of the time if Louise or Caz was telling the truth. And honestly, on some parts, I am still unsure. For some, that may turn you off but for me it made the book better.
As I said, I did figure out a small part of the book but even the ride to the reveal felt suspenseful and juicy. I think I might have changed my mind on who actually killed Andrew like 74 times.
Final drinking thoughts: This is my first book by Stimson and if her other books are anything like this then I will be checking them out soon. If you are looking for a book that keeps you guessing until the end, then this is the one for you.

I was very excited for this read. Everything from the cover, description, and a close friend who raves about it. However, for some strange reason, my ARC didn’t have any “fi” combinations. For example, the word “finished” would be “inished.” Unfortunately, at 20% I had to put this one down. I will wait for a copy at the library! One in Three is an exciting domestic thriller that perfectly plays into the deep rooted fears of most separated (or even still married) couples. It’s gripping, fast-paced, full of tension and devastatingly dark!

In the luxurious ocean-fronted bungalow of a 5 star hotel on a small island off the Devon coast, Andrew Page has been murdered. Both his current and ex-wife are found with the body, drenched in his blood and injured themselves. Which one did it and what has happened to lead events to such a catastrophic conclusion? As the events of the past few weeks are unraveled, nobody is quite who they seem and all manner of deeply-rooted, upsetting secrets rear their ugly heads...

One in Three hooked me in from the explosive opening chapter, which reminded me of some of the classic 1940s noir melodramas - like Mildred Pierce or The Letter. I loved that the crime the narrative builds to as a crescendo is revealed, which whets our appetites to learn more about these characters. Stimson has created a cast of characters that are complex, interesting and ultimately hiding something shocking. Each character is built gradually, with more and more revelations seeping out across the weeks in the run up to the final event. This kept me fully engaged in the story and propelled me through the book at breakneck speed. I quite literally couldn’t put it down, as it’s the quintessential definition of “just one more chapter”! I also enjoyed the fact that there wasn’t a clear angle from the author’s perspective as to which wife to side with. I frequently flipped preferences for who might be guilty, or who’s side I was on. The objectivity in Stimson’s writing makes One in Three all the more effective, as for the majority of the narrative, it really could be either wife who commits the crime. Andrew, whilst a supporting player, is the driving factor in the novels action and Stimson effectively creates a selfish, unredeemable monster that becomes progressively more detestable. By the end of the story, his violent death is completely plausible and not entirely unjustified!

I also really enjoyed the format that Stimson uses, revealing the story through multiple character viewpoints. A lot of the intrigue and tension is introduced via the police interviews that are interspersed throughout, which always conclude with a new snippet of information that leads readers into formulating another theory! There are so many twists throughout One in Three that at some point during the course of the action, I suspected literally every character at least once. Despite this, the shock ending was an excellent surprise and Stimson is very good at leading readers down what they think is a concluding path, only to whip the rug out from under to reveal something completely different. To say that I was kept on the edge of my seat for the entirety of this novel is an understatement - the seat evaporated and I was kept in a suspended state of tense excitement for 2 days whilst I couldn’t read it quickly enough!

If you enjoy suspense thrillers rooted in domestic tension or twists and turns that keep you reading into the small hours of the morning, then One in Three is the book for you!

Well!!! This was certainly an original tale of two women's battle over the love(?) of the same man and how their battle spills over in the end....orvrather the beginning. As the story starts with the death of the husband, each woman tells her story of how circumstances brought them to this point. As the chapters alternate between each woman and move through history to tell their side of the story, you will find it hard to decide who kills him and why. A truly original twist on the old "woman done wrong goes pyscho on his ass" that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Ouise had been married to Andrew for over ten years when he left her for Caz. But Louise isn't ready to let Caz enjoy the life she once had. Or let go of the man she still lover.

We find out early that Andrew dies but we don't k ow who killed him until the very end. This is a very twisted love triangle. There's plenty of twists in this whodunnit that will have you constantly changing your mind to who the culprit was. The plotline is complex. The chapters are told by Louise and Caz. The tension builds slowly in this well written, page turning and gripping read. The pace is good. This is an intriguing story.

Louise was married to Andrew – until he left her, a week after their son’s birth, to live with Caz, the woman he’d been secretly having an affair with.

Andrew has made a new life with Caz and their son Kit; however, it’s clear Louise hasn’t really moved on. Perhaps, nor has he. All that is sure is that Caz and Louise hate each other, and with Andrew refusing to take a stand, it’s all-out war.

This was a risky read, as I had a horrible feeling it was going to venture in to the realms of really pathetic cliché. Thankfully, the author steered well clear, and wrote something that was at times quite dark and gritty.
The three main characters are easy to relate to, and impressively, I found myself having sympathy for all three of them at different times – which is no easy task given the way they treat each other!

This story was full of twists and turns, some of which I saw coming, some of which I thought I saw coming, and was then proved wrong. Absolutely fantastic writing, and had me hooked from the start.

It took me a little time to get into this book as I found I couldn't figure out the relationships of all the characters, although all became clear within a chapter or 2.

A minor point too ... the letter combination of 'fi' and 'fl' didn't print on the ARC that I sent to my Kindle. Once I got this I managed to overlook it but the were lots of occurrences of those letter combinations .. "I'm on the oor in the ofice, but I'm ne" etc. On reflection I am surprised at how many English words contain those letter patterns,

Nonetheless it didn't spoil a first-class story.Cleverly told in flash-back form building to a rather exciting climax - I had decided several times whodunnit and I was quite satisfied with the denouement, until .....(no spoiler!)

My first Tess Stimson but I will be looking at her other work now.

This book was brill! Very nearly a 5 star but I did find it quite a slow read at first! But once I got into it wow! It definitely took a dark turn and had me like 😮. The writing was brilliant, and flowing. Once I got into it, I couldn't put it down! This book does have sensitive topics in, but the twists and what happens is amazing!!

I love the relationship between the family, and how it does share people's views on the situation. I loved Louise's character, especially her as a mother and the journey she's on.

I definitely cannot wait to read more by Tess! 😍

One in Three is fast paced, well-written, and suspenseful. The story is told from multiple characters, which certainly puts into stark, terrifying perspective how various people can find a different "truth" in the same events. Definitely recommended for fans of suspense!

I liked this thriller. It was a bit predictable for my taste but if you don't read a lot of thrillers, I think you would enjoy it more than I did.

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It didn't lag or get boring, and the interplay between the parties kept things interesting. It just goes to show how we try to fool ourselves, and when the penny drops... suddenly the way ahead is clear and looks very different.

Sometimes though, it's too late. But just every now and then, a helping hand steps in, to show the way or if necessary, pave the way. The twist at the end was completely unexpected and I loved it, bravo! To say any more about that would be telling, but take it from me, this is a must-read if you like your thrillers fast-paced and clever.

A word of warning though (because it's something I always appreciate and not enough reviewers do it), a heads up about poor Bagpuss, the kitty, who comes to a sticky end. I skipped over it, completely, I don't like cruelty to animals or children, and this didn't add to the story in any way. That tips the scale from a four to 3 star for me. Other than that, a perfectly satisfying read.

The story is about two women a wife and a ex-wife both fighting over Andy their husband but we find out at the beginning that Andy has been killed but by whom as both women have motive. Each chapter goes between the wife and the ex-wife where are you are not quite sure who is telling the truth!
I have not read any books by this author before but will definitely be reading more. I enjoyed all the twists and turns in the story as you think you know and then it all changes so you’re not quite sure. You will definitely get sucked into this story which is dark and tense.

Well, that was entertaining. Tess Stimson...what a clever writer you are!

There was so much to love about One In Three--dynamic, dauntless characters; intensely complex relationships; and a twisty, multilayered plot. Told from dual narratives, those of Louise and Caz, the story takes readers back several weeks prior to the infamous anniversary party, where Andrew, the (ex) husband, lost his life. Sections are labeled Six Weeks Before The Party or Three Weeks Before The Party, etc., as the story progresses to present day.

One technique I really loved was how Louise's narrative made Caz look like an unstable liar, while Caz's did the same to Louise.

Who to believe?

Both women were sympathetic at times, and completely repugnant at others.

I did suspect whodunit fairly early on, and was ultimately proven correct, yet it did nothing to dampen my enthusiasm for the story. And credit where credit is due...there were a couple twists thrown in I simply didn't see coming.

Unfortunately, animal abuse was featured during the story. For that reason, I deducted a star from my rating. (Come on, authors...you can do better. Your stories would be just as good without the animal mutilation. Please stop!)

Bottom line: This novel was a win and far exceeded my expectations. Pick up your copy July 9, 2020.
