This book is a sweet and likeable dual-timeline story about trusting and hoping in God no matter our circumstances in life.

The present timeline follows Jed Henning, who’s forced to reconcile with his brother or his dad, who owns the controlling share of his company, will shut it down. While trying to find his brother in Boise, he rents an apartment from Holly, a woman struggling with the loss of her dreams and trusting others as well as herself. As they begin to spend time together and confide in each other, they begin to wonder if pursuing a relationship is worth the risk. In the historic timeline, Andrew Henning, Jed's great-grandfather, faces major life changes in his old age and must decide to trust God in his circumstances.

Admittedly, I didn’t connect to this story as much as I would like and I could easily put it down - in no hurry to finish. However, it was still an enjoyable read. I really liked the characters and thought they were relatable and easy to empathize with. I also loved the wisdom and spiritual truth smoothly interwoven throughout the story; it was definitely my favorite part.

Although How Sweet It Is can be read as a standalone, I think it reads better as part of a series, in order. This novel is the first book I've read in this series and, even though this story is complete and has no loose ends, I had a feeling a lot of plot points in Andrew Henning's life from the previous books were revealed in this story.

Also, the connection between the two timelines seemed very thin to me at times; despite the fact that Jed is gifted Andrew Henning’s bible and the overall theme of the book can apply to both timelines, the stories often felt disjointed to me.

Lastly, the ending kind of threw me a bit. Although the happy ending for the characters wasn't entirely surprising, it felt rushed and I wished there was more story to provide a smoother transition into the conclusion..

All in all, this book was a pleasant, albeit slow, read for me.

SWEET! How Sweet It Is by Robin Lee Hatcher is a sweet book. I gobbled it all up and you might too. I found this book very refreshing. I didn't know this was Christian fiction when I chose it to read. I loved it!

There was a Bible that had been passed down and there were passages and notes written from the great grandfather who originally owned the Bible. They seemed to be just what the young man needed to put his life on track. There were reminders to listen to God and He would always be there. You would never be alone. I think there were a lot of messages in this story that I needed to be reminded of during this time of the pandemic.

I loved that the characters were so down to earth. They were good Chrstian people struggling to live the good life. They came from several walks of life and all were trying to do better. I really felt a kinship with these folks.

This was my first Robin Lee Hatcher book and i can promise you I will be looking at reading more from her. I felt so encouraged when I closed this book. Don't we all need encouragement?

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest review.

I loved this story and this series! The thread of the Great Grandpa's Bible being passed down to his great grand children and how his faith helped shaped theirs was the COOLEST story line ever. This finale to the series was a fun one with great characters and a family rift that needs mending. Can Great Grandpa's Bible help? Read it and find out. I am sorry this series is over, it was truly wonderful!!

I've read other books by this author and knew that I already enjoyed other of her books so I wasn't surprised that this was also one I enjoyed reading. Her books are clean, sweet romances with a message of hope and goodness. She deals with real life situations and some of the ugly of life but there is always hope and peace in her stories.

Jed was a workaholic and to his ultimate frustration, his dad had given him an ultimatum; find your brother, Chris, and kiss and make up or he would lose the business he had worked so hard for. Jed was angry and tired of his lazy brother. Why couldn't he just move on without his dad's interference?

Holly had been devastated by her fiancé who had left her holding a bag of regrets and debts. She didn't think she would ever be able to trust another man with her heart. Then Jed shows up and the walls around her heart begin to crumble. Is it worth the risk to her heart? Could she trust a man that seemed almost too good? Was there something she just wasn't seeing that would devastate her once again?

These were good people that needed a little push to get all the wonderful things they really wanted. The characters were well developed and the story seemed genuine and real. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

What a perfect ending to the Legacy of Faith series. A story of trusting again and redemption.

What a great ending for Robin's series Legacy of Faith. I think each time I read one of her books in this series, they got better and better. I love the way this author writes. Her stories are always clean, exciting, full of believable romance, and woven throughout is a thread of faith. Holly Stanford is still recovering from a breakup with her ex-fiance. She is not looking for a relationship. Jed Henning has no time for romance. Between finding his wayward brother, pleasing his demanding father and keeping his business afloat, his plate is full. Life is exciting when it is so obvious, it has to be a God thing. Love this book and I think you will too.

This is a cute story, nice to revisit some previous characters and lots of layers and happenings in the story. Love the rather small town feel but I wish I had a better idea what the town looked like. It seemed like it was just Holly’s house, the church, the restaurant and the farm and that’s it. Would have loved some greater setting development. The story feels manufactured a little, kind of predictable - especially when compared to previous stories, and while I love the Lord and am a believing Christian, I found the amount of spiritual content to be a little much. It seemed unnatural. I wanted more from the characters too. More knowledge of what’s going on with them on the inside. The romance seemed rushed and sudden and bam they’re in love 2 days later. I like a longer build up. Anyways, the story is a quick read. I gave it 3 stars. I received a digital copy from netgalley and the publisher. I was in no way required to write a positive review. All observations are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Legacy of Faith series by @robinleehatcher . Going in, I wasn't sure if I would like how Hatcher goes back and forth between the past and present day in this series, but I ended up loving it! Offering only bits and pieces of Andrew Henning's story at a time made me long for more.

How Sweet It Is, brought Andrew and Helen's story to the "end" and was very moving. I found myself crying quite a bit in this book. The love and bond that Hatcher created between those two characters, jumped off the pages. You felt, what they felt.

Jed and Holly's story was such a good story of trust and letting go of the past. Their characters struggled throughout the book, but also grew beautifully as well. I loved reading about the family dynamics of all the Hennings. This was a fantastic conclusion to a great series!

How Sweet It Is by Robin Hatcher is a very sweet and heart warming story with two timelines. I enjoyed both. This book is the third in a series but can be read as a stand alone.
*I was given a copy of this book by Thomas Nelson publishers and this is my honest opinion.

This book definitely touched my heart and was the first book that made me cry in a long time. There were so many things to like about it. Jed learned so much about his family history through the photos, letters, and Bible that he was given; and in turn, it helped him look at his life and his brother in a totally different way through his increased faith. Holly was carrying so much hurt which caused her to not trust men and not have much self-confidence. As she and Jed connected, she grew in confidence, her ability to trust, and her faith. The relationship between Andrew and Helen the grandparents was so touching as they both dealt with issues of growing older and loss.

I do wish there had been a little more about Chris, Jed's brother, and how he found his way back to the family as well as how the family became one again.

This book was a beautiful conclusion to the Legacy of Faith series.

Holly is doing her very best to cope with all the stress of owning her own restaurant. To make matters worse, it is not her dream, but her fiance' talked her into the financial burden after she inherited it from her uncle, and then bailed on her. On the restaurant, on the upcoming marriage...on everything.

She fears she may end up losing it all. Her restaurant, her home, and her real dream of being a pastry chef. She hardly even has the time to work on new creations.

Her house has a little basement apartment that if she could rent it out, some of her problems just may be solved.

Enter Jed (the romance in the story). Jed runs a family company, and is very good at it, even somewhat married to it. Unfortunately, he has alienated his younger brother who has left the company. Jed's father has sent him to Boise to locate his brother and make amends with him.

What does Jed end up renting for three months but Holly's apartment. It isn't the year lease she had hoped for, but it was better than nothing, right?

Jed's great-grandparents once lived in that little basement apartment. Jed has his great-grandfather's Bible with him, and begins to read it, along with the notes his great-grandfather had written in the margins many years earlier.

The story goes back and forth between present day and his great-grandparents.

Such a sweet, sweet story. I do so love reading Robin Lee Hatcher's books!

I love books by Robin, and this one was a perfect ending to the Legacy of Faith series. It’s a story of finding family and learning to trust again. It’s a take of redemption and hope. It’s also bittersweet in the split-time story.

The focus on this novel is Jed and Holly in current time. Jed helps run a successful gaming company with his brother Chris and father. Holly has inherited a restaurant. She is overwhelmed by her duties and saddened that the dream of being a successful pastry chef has been put on hold indefinitely.

Jed’s father sends him a mission to “fix” things between him and his brother. Chris is the creator of the successful video games. Jed hopes to find a way to connect with this brother. He doesn’t really know what happened. Jed takes this time to read the bible his cousin Ben gave him. It was his great-grandfather’s, he learns much from the hand written notes in the margins.

Holly rents Jed her basement apartment. She’s a young restaurant owner struggling financially and emotionally after a jilted romance. She’s dealing with her fears, regrets, and a death of a dream.

They have hurts from the past that have them on guard when they first meet each other. Neither has time for a relationship nor do they want to face their hurts, if only their feelings would stop running things. Eventually they both have to face their fears, learn how to get God’s peace that passes all understanding in their heart, have the bravery to forgive others and themselves and above all trust God to give them the courage to love again.

Then there is Jed’s brother Chris and Willow’s story that needed their own book, but the reader got the jest of it all. Then there was the time slip story from the past with Andrew and Helen who originally married in 1929. It’s a heart-felt story of a loving couple facing tremendous hardships, that tested their faith and their sense of family.

I enjoyed the characters, events, and the natural spiritual thread, but I wish I had read books one and two before this one. I think it would have made the story a richer experience for me. I did not realize that this was book three, when I requested to read this story in the Legacy of Faith series. I did not feel lost, but I did want to know more about this family, even so this was a fun read

This is a hopeful read one that will help take you away from the cares of this world and put them in perspective. The characters and the love that develops between them are believable. This is a heart-felt feel good story.

How Sweet It Is is indeed a sweet story of faith.

I loved how Holly, in the midst of the pain over the loss of her fiancé, reached out to the women in the local shelter, caring for them and teaching them life skills. She was so fun, too, with her '60s music that she baked (and danced!) to. Poor Holly had such a hard time trusting.

Enter Jed. Jed was very much the older brother in the story of the Prodigal Son. Though instead of staying home, his father sent him out to find Chris and restore the relationship they once had. Through his frustrations, and mostly through his searching the pages of his great-grandfather's Bible, he turned his heart back to the Lord.

As sweet as the budding relationship between Holly and Jed was, the old and still very comfortable romance between Andrew and his long-time bride Helen was even sweeter! As Andrew came face-to-face with his mortality, he had to learn to lean on the Lord even more than ever.

Lovers of more serious stories with the light of faith shining through will want to be sure to read How Sweet It Is. And while it easily stands alone, it builds on the events of the previous books of the Legacy of Faith series, so you'll want to be sure to read them as well.

This was a charming faith based read. I love the series and found this installment to be very good. I enjoyed the two timelines and found them easy to follow. I hated to see the series end!
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved "How Sweet it Is." I have not read the first two books of the series, but will definitely read them now! This is book 3 of the Legacy of Faith Series, but I had no trouble following the story line. Sometimes dual timeline stories just aren't my cup of tea, but I enjoyed this one.

Jed and Holly each face monumental decisions in their lives. Jed with his job, and Holly with the restaurant she's strapped to, and that's quickly sinking her. They each have to learn to trust God's plan, whether they like it or not.

Jed ends up in Boise, ID renting Holly's basement apartment, which his ancestor had lived in years before. He and Holly develop a friendship, and realize their worlds are more intertwined than they could have imagined.

This wasn't the lighthearted romance I expected, but was very realistic and touched on some deep issues.

I enjoyed this book about stepping back from everything and getting back into the word of God. I loved the old family bible in this book and the impact that it had for generations. I was glad to see that everyone could realize their own dreams and quit living the dreams that they thought they were supposed to have.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.

What is the recipe for a strong marriage?

Two stories intertwine into one in this sweet romance, one from the past and a budding one from the future. As Jed searches for his brother, he learns about his great-grandfather's marriage to his great-grandmother. At the same time, he's met Holly. Of course, it's the right time for both of them despite thinking otherwise.

This is the perfect book for someone questioning their relationship and faith. Overall, it was a "sweet" read.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I felt the characters were relatable and had some definite struggles to work through. I really appreciated that neither of the main characters did that perfectly. But continued to pray, try, struggle, repeat. And slowly they grew and matured. I loved the characters of Andrew and Helen. Their connection and marriage was a delight to read! How Sweet It Is is the first book of this author's that I've read, so I'm definitely looking forward to going back and reading the first two books in this series!
