Loved this one by MKA, complete with lovable ( and some not so lovable) characters, a nice story with a little suspense, made this a totally fun summer read. I am sure this will be devoured by many who will be sitting on the beach in the months to come.

Hello, Summer is a fine example of uber talented Mary Kay Andrews’ work. Journalist Conley, finding herself between jobs, returns home to small Florida town, and is coerced by her grandmother into helping her sister with the local newspaper. What promised to be a boring stint and definitely temporary becomes a lot more when longtime U. S. Congressman Symmes Robinette is killed in a fiery car crash. As leads are followed and secrets uncovered readers can’t help becoming emotionally engaged in the book. The author has populated the story with well defined characters...some upstanding, some humorous, some shady, and some that will require more pages to be turned before they can be sorted. This book has it all: mystery, romance and a whole lot of Southern charm! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

This book started out as a journalist quitting her current job to go to a new company. At the farewell party she learns that there is no job to go to. After returning home to regroup, given her head & heart for journalism, several tangled stories are uncovered. Self healing, healing between sisters & new beginnings make up this book.

This was my first Mary Kay Andrews book. This was a very fun read. Enjoyed it very much. Enjoyed reading about all the characters. Very entertaining. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This is an easy, quick read that is somewhat entertaining. I had trouble getting through the story, but eventually I caught on with what was develooing. The elderly characters were interesting , but the younger ones were less so. Enjoy this one.

I have been reading Mary Kay Andrews since her first book about Weezie in the Savannah Blues (Please bring this character back!) Another great read by her, really enjoyed. Not as lighthearted as previous reads, but thoroughly enjoyable with a little bit of suspense thrown in.

I can see a sequel for this book!

Really enjoyed this breezy, intriguing read from MKA! I like how she's recently been injecting a mystery/thriller storyline into her plots. MKA never disappoints and I always look forward to reading her most recent creations. Looking forward to the next one already!

Mary Kay Andrews never disappoints with her books. As always I pulled in right away and couldnt put the book down. I felt her disappointment in the beginning and her love for her grandmother along with her disdain for her sister. I also love how there is always a scandal in the book. I cant wait til this is realized and I can have others read it!

Mary Kay Andrews is the Queen of the beach reads! Her newest book Hello, Summer is a winner.
Sarah Conley Hawkins has come back to her hometown of Silver Bay Florida when the new job she had lined up fell through. She is staying with her Grandmother Lorraine and her Grandmother's housekeeper Winnie. She is forced to work with her sister at the family owned newspaper the Silver Bay Beacon. A juicy story falls into her lap and she is hot on the trail of a hometown scandal.
I loved this book. This is Southern fiction at its best. Conley's Grandmother Lorraine and the housekeeper Winnie were a hoot. I loved reading the newspaper stories, especially the Police blotter.
This is the perfect beach read this summer.

I absolutely adored this book. The characters were so real that it sucked you in and made you feel a part of the story. You didn't want it to end!

I normally would give a Mary Kay Andrews book a 5 star review but Hello Summer just didn't have her usual southern charm, the kind where you laugh and almost cry at the antics of the characters. Hello, Summer is classic Mary Kay Andrews. A fun mix of romance, mystery and family dynamics. I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery while also enjoying the romance aspects. As a former freelancer for a small-town weekly, I could relate to that.

I love Mary Kay Andrews and look forward to the annual summer read! It is light and easy, yet highly engaging and an awesome story to boot. It starts with Conley returning to her hometown after losing her shiny, new publishing job in Washington D.C> While there, she becomes embroiled in a mystery that spans decades and reveals secrets that have long been hidden on her small Florida town. I loved how each layer is slowly peeled back---leaving nothing fully realized until the very last page. A solid entry into this author's large library of good dreads!

I look forward to Mary Kay Andrews books because they offer a fun read with just the right amount of romance, intrigue and family drama. This book met all of these expectations. Conley Hawkins is quitting her job in Atlanta for a new job when she finds out her new employer has ceased operations. Dejected, she heads home to Florida to see her grandmother. What follows brings Conley back to her roots working for the family newspaper and reconnecting with her sister. She also realizes that everything she wants is back in the small town she grew up in and at one time was happy to leave.

Hello, Summer's cover does the book no favors. Mary Kay Andrews keeps getting better with each book, and this is no light and funny beach read. She gives us a family saga set in a small town, but throws in a well plotted mystery. Excellent

This book needs to be in your beach/pool bag this summer! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I think that with every book that she writes, Mary Kay Andrews just gets better. This one seemed a little long to me, but overall I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of Southern lit.

Hello, Summer is the latest book by Mary Kay Andrews. In Hello, Summer Ms Andrews gives the reader likable main characters, a mystery,  a little romance, and thrown in for good measure some edge of the seat moments.This is the kind of story that you hate to see end. While I adore all of MKA’s work, Hello Summer has assumed place of honor as one of my favorites to date. Though many of Andrews’s light-hearted books deal with families, Hello Summer is an engrossing foray into family interactions: mothers, fathers, grandmothers, sisters, and sons; coupled with a moving depiction of what it means to be truly successful. Add a dash of romance into the mix, and you have what is sure to be one of the best reads of summer 2020. What a surprising book. Judging from Hello, Summer's cover, you think a fun beach read, but what you get is so much more. A book that is part small town, part family saga, and part mystery. A great blend that keeps you reading and guessing til the end. A great read!
