Just delightful.
I don’t always have much time, so novellas are perfect for me. Dargo: Eco Hero! is just the right length for busy readers. It can be read in one go and will leave you feeling jolly and refreshed.
This book is quite unusual, and for that, a very refreshing story. I would agree that it’s a fairy tale for adults. And what’s wrong with that? We all need more magic in our lives! Why should kids have all the fun? However, you could certainly read this to your children or grandchildren, to help them learn about our planet and its plight in a unique and entertaining way.
A young man is bullied at work. He is different. He just does not fit in. The story starts out with Dargo Fernandez facing unemployment and no chance at finding love. When everything becomes a nightmare in his world, he is magically transported to another. This may sound like a common theme―ho hum, here we go again… But, prepare to be surprised! And I am not going to spoil it for you.
Suffice to say some pretty whacky and wonderful characters need Dargo’s help.
This book will make you laugh. Some of it may well make you cry. And sigh – there is plenty of warmth. Well, it’s just got everything.
The story is illustrated beautifully, adding to its appeal.
I absolutely recommend this if you are looking for something touching, poignant, and uplifting. Go Dargo!

Very strange but enjoyable. I liked the odd but likeable character Dargo. Even through disappointments and tragedy, in the end he found something hopeful and positive. With the help of the other characters and their stories. Which allowed Dargo to grow and change. Cute story with a positive message. Definitely would recommend to young adults. Quick, enjoyable and slightly quirky read with a positive message. Feels very much like you are sitting around telling stories type of novella. Cozy.

I didn't vibe with this at all. The pacing was weird and the writing felt a little off. The beginning felt weak, the boss suspending Dargo for a week before ever speaking and giving him a chance to improve made no sense. You don't let someone do something wrong for however long then suspend them without explaining what you need from them. It was written purely to make Dargo walk home instead of get the bus and cause him to "get lost" and then swept up to this old fun fair etc??

I didn't feel like I truly understood what was happening - who these people Dargo met at first were (it took me way too long to realise they were the elements) and while I appreciated the message this novella wanted to give, I didn't find the fiction engaging enough.

This book has many flaws. The main being - no clear target audience. It's not suitable for young adults and it's not suitable for middle-grade. It needs a lot of editing and tweaking to fit comfortably in an age bracket and I believe middle-grade would be the best bet.

The overall idea is actually really good, I like the spirits/elements, but the execution is a mess. The writing is mostly extremely juvenile (hence would fit in more with MG), but then out of nowhere you're hit with things like s-bombs.

The overuse of italics for emphasis isn't necessary and the added images are also out of place and not needed.

Dargo is a child inside a man's body. Solution - make him a child!

I think this book needs to be taken down and given a good revamp, as the potential is there, but as it is, I'm sorry but I cannot recommend it to anyone.

Dargo is not working fast enough for his boss, so he's let go. He's so disturbed by that he heads out for home but doesn't pay attention to where he is going. He ends up at an old amusement park he recognizes.

BooksGoSocial and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can get a copy now.

As he wanders the park, he meets various elements. There's the wind, fire, water, and the earth. They ask him for help. No one pays attention to them anymore.

He agrees to help them and when he speaks at the conference he's sneaked into, the people listen.

This is a good way for young ones to meet nature. We can't take those things for granted. We have to protect them and that's the point this story makes.

I think I might have been a bit too old for this book. It's more adaptable for middle school, but it's a sweet story. A very important story, too. I loved that the elements had a very unique and different character to each other and I loved them! This book was absolutely sweetly written; the characters relateable and by end, I didn't feel too old for this book anymore. It's timeless. It's readable at every age and it should be read by everyone because it's imortant.

I received a free copy by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Dargo has just been asked to leave work without pay for a week. He is then to call his boss back to see if he wants to still work there or not. Regardless of what his boss says he is really fired. He wants Dargo to leave with a security guard. Dargo doesn’t understand about having a security guard escort him out so he leaves by the back way without getting his stuff. When he is outside, he breaks into a run not caring where he is going. Eventually Dargo finds himself out In front of the old amusement park that he enjoyed as a kid. He decides to go in to look at the rides, etc. discovering they are falling apart, rusting and becomes even more sad. He decides to try to cheer himself up and goes into the hall of mirrors. Only one mirror is left intact, but Dargo tries it but it doesn’t make him laugh. He goes to see if the fortune teller still works. Once there, he realizes that he has no coins for the machine. When he starts to leave, the fortune teller tells him he doesn’t have to pay to get his fortune told. When Dargo starts to leave to go home, he meets a gal who explains who she is. Who is she.? She tells him that they need him to tell people about air, fire, water and earth. They want to survive and be loved. No one pays them any attention anymore. They’re too busy with their cell phones to notice them. He doesn’t want to do it, but finally agrees to do it. After a night of sleep in the amusement park, he figures out how to do it.. Dargo tells them that he will tell them at a large conference that is starting today. When he is there, he thinks he can’t do it but he does.

A novella that reminds me how important it is to be good to the earth. It shows how one can do something when one thinks they can’t. This is a charming and well written story that can be read by anyone. It made me smile.

Dargo; Eco Hero! A Feel Good Novella is a novella about Dargo saving the environment. The novella starts off pretty sad. Dargo has a lonely life and loses his job. Everything seems to go wrong for Dargo. As Dargo is on his way home from his job he meets the environment spirits Earth, wind, water, and fire. The spirits want Dargo to save them and get people to pay attention to the environment. The story is uplifting.

I enjoyed Dargo: Eco Hero! And recommend it. The novella was the perfect length to get the point across.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for Dargo: Eco Hero! A Feel Good Novella.

Dargo Fernandez has had a very bad day at the office. Walking home he strays from his usual route and ends up at his favorite childhood haunt, Jolly Land. Jolly Land was a place of fun, rides and magic. Dargo finds that it is now derelict and faded. He enters to explore and finds that the Fortune Telling Gypsy is still there in her little glass booth....he drops a coin in and, things happen! Soon other characters come to meet Dargo and Dargo finds himself in the role of saving these neglected characters, each of whom represent aspects of our planet Earth.
Dargo is a modern day fairy tale and in the pages you get to meet the wind, fire, water and so on. I could see this story translating very well to a vivid puppet show for children to educate them on the earth and how we must care for our planet. Likeable characters and a timely message. #netgalley #Dargo

Fun little story. It is hard not to feel awful for Dargo, he is down on his luck and can't catch a break, or can he? JollyLand comes to the rescue; Dargo meets Flame and embarks on a new adventure.
