This was the first Ruth Jones book I have read and I wasn't disappointed. It was an 'easy' read but covered some strong topics - mother/daughter problems, betrayal, death, friendships, loyalty. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and loved the way the story unfolded.

I would recommend this book. My thanks to NetGalley for my free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Warm, clever, character-led story of 3 very different but likeable sisters. Trials, tribulations, love, feuds and fun.. I love Ruth Jones, I love whatever she writes and this is just perfect. Read it in 2 days and can’t wait for what she writes next. Read it. You’ll love it.

I really loved this book. It starts off with 3 friends, Judith, Catrin and Lana about to go off to Greece on a trip before they all go off to university. The girls have been friends since primary school. By the end of the book I felt as though they were all my friends too! The story follows their lives through to their 50s, with all the successes, failures, love and heartbreak. I recommend this as a great read. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

You know when you get into a book, and you just don’t want it to end? Well this is one of those. The book is the story of three friends who first meet at primary school and it’s set in the eras that reflect my age so that made it all the more readable. It cleverly moves about in time, focussing on the sort of events that shape us as humans and that can make or break friendships. It’s a very easy read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. The characters are all likeable, it’s a story that’s very relatable and entertaining. I like this much more than her first novel and as much as we all want G&S back, I hope there are more novels in the pipeline as Ruth is a rare talent.

A life-spanning tale of Judith, Cat and Lana, three tenacious Welsh wonders. The first third of the book was the best, for me. Those feelings of young love and adventure were perfectly captured on the page. It felt like there was a tiiiiiiny bit too much shoehorned into the rest of the book, like we were fast-forwarding through life a bit, but it was heartwarmingly done all the same and I enjoyed it :)

Three girls, and their stories.
Lana, Catrin and Judith, three very different types, have a last holiday in Greece at the end of their schooldays. I found the girls difficult to get to know especially Lana who came across as more of a caricature than a person.
The intertwining of their lives through grief, sadness, betrayal and more was well portrayed.
Sadly it wasn't a book that I really fell in love with. I just found the characters irritating.
However, thanks to NetGalley for a review copy.

I was eager to read this book as I had heard good things about Never Greener, Ruth’s first book.
Within a few chapters, I felt comfortable with all characters, getting to know the three girls, wondering what their futures would hold. With the starting point being a funeral, you know their lives won’t be as simple as their 18 year old optimistic hearts expect.
I personally was taken back the the 80’s as soon as the phone was answered “5065”. To this day I can still remember hearing my Nan’s voice answering the phone this way. A lovely memory to be taken back to, still knowing the number 35 years on.
If anyone is looking to find Gavin, Stacey or Ness in the pages, then you need to know you won’t. Though I couldn’t shake hearing the voice of Dave Coaches whenever I heard Father O’Leary speak.
If you are looking for a gentle read about friendship, growing up and how lives don’t necessarily work out according to plan, you will love Us Three.

Oh this book is an absolute delight!! I became so absorbed in the characters and their lives that I read it in a day and now feel sad that I’ve finished it. Following three women from their late teens to early fifties, we see love, laughter, feuds and friendship, without once feeling that the story is too far fetched. Ruth has written each woman brilliantly, giving her layers and ensuring that none are perfect, all are doing their best and making you want to befriend all of them. I hadn’t read her previous novel, despite having it on my tbr pile for a few months, but now am off to read it immediately to see if it’s as good as this. I definitely recommend this book!
Thank you so much to netgalley, the publishers and to Ruth Jones for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest unbiased review.

Catrin, Lana and Judith are childhood friends who have their dream holiday at 18 before starting university. Their lives are interwoven from children to adults in a tale of smiles, sadness, joy and pain. Spanning a friendship of decades what will life hold for them.
Told in three parts this was an alright read but the last part made it four stars. I really hoped it would be funnier than it was but it’s an enjoyable read. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

If your looking for a tale of friendship and rivalries, love and heartbreak then this latest novel from Ruth Jones has it all. I couldn’t put it down, shed a tear or two and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Wonderful.

I really like Ruth Jones tv work especially Gavin and Stacey. This was the first time I read one of her books and it certainly won't be the last. The characters were realistic along with some of the storylines.

It was funny and witty and a lovely story of friendship love and loss.

Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity.

Catrin, Lana and Judith are childhood friends who at the age of 8 swear to stay friends forever. The novel begins with the girls on the point of leaving school, aware that their lives will be very different from then on. Catrin will go to medical school, Lana to study musical theatre and Judith to London to study economics. But before this they will go to Greece for one last big holiday. What happens on that holiday affects their lives and friendship. Will they ever be the same threesome again?

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It made me laugh and cry and I felt as though I knew the characters well by the end. Catrin was perhaps a little less developed than Lana and Judith and at times she came across as a little insipid, unsurprising really as she was so often cast in the role of peacemaker between the other two. I loved the character of Patricia, Judith's mother, a monstrous Narcissus of a figure and thought she was particularly well done.

This is a lovely, comfortable read. . Grab yourself a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit, put on the fire and settle into your favourite sofa, plunge into this book and ignore the storms outside. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Well done Ruth... I enjoyed your first book but I loved this one..... it was a lovely, warm and comforting story about 3 friends from wales! It followed their lives from the age 5 to 52 and there was lots of highs and lows. It made me tearful and happy and I really wanted to read in one go! Hope there’s another book soon

Lana, Judith and Catrin are three childhood friends who embark on a holiday to Greece together for several weeks. How their lives work out beyond the holiday forms the major part of the narrative.
I feel that this book reads more like a screenplay than a novel, comprising mostly of dialogue amongst the various characters in the girls’/women’s lives. I found the characterisation to be a bit thin and lacking in individuality, possibly needing actors to flesh them out? It was hard to differentiate between the three characters’ ‘voices’ if it hadn’t been for the named chapters making it clear. The scenarios that the women found themselves in were predictable, and the ‘surprising’ developments didn’t happen for me .
This book that I had so looked forward to reading was a disappointment. I love Ruth Jones’ television work, but this novel fell flat.
I am sure it will be popular with many readers, however it just didn’t work for this reader, sorry.

My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book.

I absolutely loved this! I was a big fan of Jones’ first book and I think this might be even better! The story of friendship is gripping, I couldn’t put it down! I think this will be one of the top summer reads of 2020!

Slightly predictable in places and took a few chapters to get going but was an easy read with likeable characters and an easy to follow storyline. Although I may have read a lot of this in Ruth Jones accent.

This was such a comfortable book. After a couple of chapters the characters really seemed to come alive and I was engrossed.

Lana, Judith and Catrin have been best friends and inseparable since they first met at primary school. Following on from their A Levels they have the trip of a lifetime island hopping around Greece.
However, when they return to Wales, they have to grow up and then something happens that shakes this friendship to the core. Can they forgive and forget or are some thing simply too big to move beyond.

I found the characters to be so real and liked how there wasn't just one voice telling the story. We met many characters and jumping between these characters and the years, I felt that the characters were more realistic.

I will be telling everyone about this book

I absolutely loved this book and found it a heart warming and easy read.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into and engage with the characters but after that, I was totally engrossed in the story.
It’s a little predictable, however that certainly didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the book.
This is my first book by Ruth Jones and I’m now away to read her 1st book after being super impressed with this one.

It took me a few chapters to get into this book and I considered swapping to another but all of a sudden the characters really came into their own and I was hooked. That is the only reason for dropping a star as I really enjoyed it and I read this book in one sitting. The way the book flipped between characters and the different years was really interesting as you got to see different chapters on the characters lives and that helps as a reader to become really invested in the story and the characters. A fantastic mix of heartbreak and love, I will now be ordering Jones’s other book. Thanks netgalley.
