Having not read Ruth's first book (yet), I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I sure wasn't disappointed. She has such an amazing way of writing believable characters, you could imagine within your own circle of friends. This book has everything from friendship and fun to sadness and more. It's just wonderful.

I didn't think this was very engaging, and struggled to finish it. Shame, as she's a great woman! Maybe I'll give it another go. I think I was in the mood for less chick lit and more grit.

Lovely novel about three girls friends who meet at school and tracks them through all the key milestones of their lives as they happen, both together and separately. Ruth Jones has an easy writing style which brings the characters to life and I would defiantly look for other novels she has written. Would recommend this to everyone.

I'm not sure what I expected of this tale of three friends and their relationship over many years, I am sure that I knew that Ruth Jones was an amazing writer and so she would be able to write a story that rang true and made me feel engaged and interested.
But this was better, somehow than I expected.
Catrin, Lana and Jude go on holiday aged 19 and set in place events that follow them over the next 30 years.
I loved every character, they were real and not perfect but I knew who I wanted to be happy,
I laughed and then I cried.
Just great.

Ruth Jones has made her name with her writing for TV but for me her novels are vastly superior. She have a subtlety and tenderness not always found in her other work, and seems to write more personally in her novels. This latest book is about a group of three school friends and their later entwined lives. They are believable and well rounded characters with convincing faults and foibles. There is nothing overly dramatic here, but it is extremely enjoyable and thoroughly recommended.

My first read by Ruth Jones and I wasn’t disappointed. In the story we follow the lives of three friends, though all of their ups and downs over fifty years.

Read over a day, there are some great characters who I found to be realistic and who I could relate to easily. I really enjoyed reading this lighthearted story and will be looking to read more of this authors work in the future.

I really enjoyed following the characters through their life journey with the twists and turns along the way that life throws at us all. It wasn't as lighthearted as I expected, perhaps because I know Ruth most through her comedic performances but I still enjoyed the read. I wouldn't say it is uplifting though.

Amazing read. I could not put this book down. Following these three ladies through life was addictive. Immersive from the start, emotive throughout and just throughly readable. This is such an easy book to read with laughs and a few tears along the way. Highly recommended.

Ruth Jones makes the characters realistic and tells a story that could have been from the diary of anyone of us.
I enjoyed this book just as much as her first novel .It is a nice light read that had me hooked in the story and kept me wanting to read quickly to find out what was going to happen.

I have to admit I only picked this book because of the Author, Ruth Jones, as this sort of fiction isn't what I'd normally pick and when I started reading it, I did think to myself I'm not sure if I'll finish it but I'm glad I did. Us three spans 40 years and it tells the story of Catrin, Judith and Lana, childhood friends from Wales, it follows them growing up with the inevitable ups and downs along the way and it will make you laugh and cry along with them. Don't read it expecting Gavin and Stacey, this is more grown up and I'm glad I persevered and finished it.

Although not my usual genre and it took me a little while to get used to the writing style, I loved this. It’s very much character-driven and the dialogue is so well done that everyone feels real. It’s full of warmth and humour and in places quite sad as the friendship is tested over the decades by experiences they go through and other people who come into their lives. I found it very easy to visualise and enjoyed the nostalgic references. I’d recommend it to fans of David Nicholls

My first time reading Ruth Jones and won't be the last. Her voice is unmistakable – funny, poignant and very Welsh – just like her TV scripts!
Us Three tells the story of three best friends, inseparable as teens, who head to Greece to island hop. Their idyllic holiday is the beginning of the end of their simple unconditional love for each other and the start of a more complicated dynamic that adulthood, relationships, grief and some betrayal brings. Loved it and could totally relate.

This book follows the friendship of 3 people through there lives. The callings out, marriage, kids and there parents. It’s a great story and makes me realise what’s important in life. Would highly recommend.

Ruth Jones has written a fab story about their lives, together and apart, their hopes, dreams and realities. I loved them, their families and their stories and all the ups and downs spanning three decades of their lives. The story has everything that makes for a great holiday read -laughter, sadness, a well thought out and well written plot- one that I will certainly recommend to friends.

I adored Ruth’s first novel and was so excited to pick up her second. Whilst I didn’t love this one quite a much, I still really really enjoyed it.
The relationship between the three main characters was so palpable and believable the whole way through, the excellent use of time and the way the book spanned so many years so expertly, the gorgeous scenes in Italy, the highs and lows of life - it had it all!!
Really great second novel with three women you will feel like you know inside out once you’ve finished.

A tale, told by Ruth Jones, of a female friendship over the decades, depicts the good, the bad and the ugly of everyday life and interactions for a Welsh trio.

While Ruth is best known for her comedy writing, this captures more extensive emotions and handles subjects like fertility difficulties, baby loss, grief, substance dependency and dysfunctional relationships.

Each of the women is written well and has her own identity, personality, flaws and priorities. Lana, Catrin and Judith are bound by their similarities in one breath but almost strangers in their differences at others; I felt that was a good reflection of a friendship that survives the ages, as each of the individuals faces their own personal challenges (family, career, relationship - or the impact of any of those going wrong)

It was a very easy and well paced read that I expect will be very popular; I particularly liked the writing style where each character has an opportunity to have their voice and inner dialogue heard (much like The Flat Share / The Switch) and that helped me to believe in their friendship and warm to each of them even when they, in turn, weren’t very likeable.
