This was a darling little story about royals that I was delighted with. This is actually the very first book that I have picked up with a royal trope despite them being all the rage at the moment.

One of the things that I really liked about this book is how authentic it felt. I suppose that no one really knows what daily life is like for a royal unless you are indeed a royal, but everything felt very realistic. The author really did a nice job of distancing the royal characters from their titles and allowing the reader to see the person underneath the title. I really appreciated that.

The characters in this book are all very likable, but I don't think that I connected with the main characters as much as I would have liked to. I really loved all the secondary characters and I think that they really made the book stand out. I really loved all the family relationships and friendships displayed in the story. I haven't read Kelsey's book yet but I am definitely feeling the need to read it after finishing this book. And I am honestly quite excited about Christian's book to release.

The romance in the story was satisfactory but it didn't really push the envelope by any means. While I enjoyed the romance, I wasn't very invested in it. I can't put my finger on why but I just felt a little disconnected from the romance in the story.

The plot of the story was very entertaining and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It was very unpredictable and extremely fun. It certainly kept my interest. There were a few plot points that I wish would have been elaborated on but I was generally pleased with the story.

Overall, this was an adorable story with a very likable cast of characters. The story is very fun and will put a smile on your face. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

This was a great story! Right from the beginning it pulled me in and made me invested in the lives of the characters. I do have to say that I did not read book one, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the story. The plot, story, and the pacing were perfect for this story and the humor just made it even better. The author did an amazing job with making a sexy, humorous, and engrossing read.

A royal enemies-to-lovers romance? Count. Me. In.

And Lordy, was spending the day ignoring the world while reading Ruling the Princess worth every minute!

I loved the spark, the connection between Princess Genevieve and Theo. Both had some seriously preconceived notions regarding each other and their “true” selves... and both were proven fantastically wrong.

I loved seeing the growth and development and enlightenment between Genny and Theo. That they somehow managed to see, truly see, the person behind the public façade. I loved how Genny’s sense of duty to the Crown truly ruled her daily activities. And how she managed to somehow set aside her own feelings to be able to put her country and it’s citizens first.

And that Theo finally put his own anger and hurt aside to truly see the woman Genny has become—that she’s not really the frivolous, pretty princess that’s splashed across the headlines. That she’s much more real and down to earth than portrayed.

I also loved seeing how Genny and her sister, Kelsey, are finally developing a relationship too! And I cannot wait for Tempting the Prince this summer!

It's been a while since I read a contemporary romance featuring royals and that's why I requested this book from Netgalley. Besides, the romance is a classic enemy-to-lovers thing where the guy is not fond of the royal girl. I'm happy to say that Ruling the Princess didn't disappoint.

Ruling the Princess stars Princess Genevieve (Genny), a spare heir of the throne and Theo, an heir of Duchy who was exiled when he was ten and blames Genny for it, hence his hate for anything royal. It is fortunate that his first job when he came back to his homeland is to audit, or more like controlling Princess Genny's finances. But it is not long before he realized how hard it is to hate the royals especially since he can't seem to take her eyes and hands off Princess Genny.

This is a perfect example of a hate-to-love romance. Theo's hate for the royals is too much and he doesn't even bother to hide it. At first, I was even put off a bit because it's like he's generalizing royals. His criticisms are very cliche, by the way, you know, the usual royals are too spoiled, too extravagant, etc. But I really don't mind because it's obvious that he has reasons for hating the royal, especially Genny. Besides, he's such a nice guy. Sure he acts rude and even unreasonable but I can see that he's only doing that because he thinks it's what he must do. If you grew up hating someone, you expect yourself to act like it. But I do like their responses to each other. They bicker and argue but still, they acknowledge if the other did something right or is being nice. It's such fun to see them as they get to know each other more, as they peel each other's masks and of course as they give in, little by little, to their attraction to each other.

Aside from the romance, I like the reveal at the end of Theo's grudge against Genny. I finally understand Theo and it's nice. There's also the issue of someone using Theo to bring down the royal family. I love that aspect too.

As for the characters, obviously, I liked Theo and Genny. The side characters are also fun. I love Genny's siblings, Kelsey and Christian. By the way, this is the second book in the series. I didn't read the first one which stars Kelsey, but after reading this I want to read it soon. The next book in the series will feature Christian and I'm excited. Hopefully, I can get an early ARC of it too because Christian is my favorite character. He's funny and too full of himself. :)

Finally, the reason why I couldn't give Ruling the Princess a perfect five star is because I think some parts of the story are cliche. I also think that I would've liked if I get to know Genny more before the main conflict is introduced. I don't know, but it felt like when Genny was introduced, all I met is a cliche royalty member, a princess, and then Theo enters the story. Just a suggestion, maybe it is better if there's one unique characterization introduced in the beginning before introducing the other main character and the conflict.

Overall, I highly recommend this book. It's a worthwhile read and really enjoyable.

I really loved the first book in the series so I was excited for this one. I enjoyed this one, but not as much. I think it felt a bit repetitive at times. There’s only so much the main character can scrutinize the Royal expenses. What I did enjoy was seeing the characters from the first series pop up. I suspect Christian will star in a future book in the series. I enjoyed seeing the scene set for that!

I really enjoyed the first book in the series so when I saw this was available as an ARC I had to snatch it up! I really liked Genny and Theo's story and the constant banter and push and pull attitude between them. The was the perfect enemies to lovers story although most of those feelings are due to some pretty big misconceptions and assumptions on each of there parts. There romance was deeper and more solid than Kelsey and Elias' and I'm glad. I liked how the author includes all the other characters so we still get to learn how they're doing.

Another great read from Christi Barth and I can't wait to read Christian's story next!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC for an honest review!

This is book 2 in a new series and it is a standalone, In the previous book we met Genevieve and I wondered how the author was going to make her a likable character in this book. It was an easy transition and Genevieve became not only likeable but very charming and loyal. In reading the book, I was reminded of Princess Margaret In fact Theo was the unlikeable one and it is perhaps the part of his job that makes him so.....in any case they find common ground, develop a nice relationship that hits a few snags but overall leads to a nice HEA.

After years of living in the Us, through no choice of his own, Theo has returned to Moncriano at the request of the Prime Minister to analyze the expenses of Princess Genevieve and make whatever changes he deems necessary but is it to serve his fellow citizens or revenge?

If you read the first book of the series then you would think that the Princess is cold and unfeeling but appearances can be deceiving. She knows that everything she does and everything she says is being watched by those around her and she is determined to be the best role model she can be both for her family and her people.

Theo and Genny are on opposite sides and both are determined to best the other but they also know that the attraction between them at a minimum is inconvenient and at the maximum could lead to disaster for both them and their families.

The characters are compelling, the heat between them intense and their interactions are fun which is something they both need with all the responsibilities they both have. This is a modern day fairy tale that even includes an evil force that is trying to create havoc.

This was such a Fantastic read. So entertaining! Christi Barth brought on some awesome hate-flirt in this enemies to lovers romance that had me smiling big time. Loved It!

Swoon worthy hero? Check.
Strong, determined heroine? Check.
Major attitude and animosity? Check.
Being in total denial of your feelings? Oh yeah!

Princess Genevieve and Lord Theo Holst were so entertaining and awesome together. Their animosity and heat towards one another was off the charts and I loved being absorbed into it all. The conflict they were having made for the best one liners, great verbal sparing and sizzling chemistry. There were just so many great moments between them and I couldn’t get enough.

Although I didn’t Love Lord Theo at first, I totally loved his voice and his vibe. He had great internal dialogue and I enjoyed his slightly self deprecating humor and his lonely and tough job hating the royal family which he excelled at.

Princess Genevieve was great as well because while she was all about her people and what they needed, her own desires had always been secondary, but after getting closer to her new sister and auditor, Lord Theo she finally shows a different more relaxed and fun side and I loved seeing the different sides of her. These two clash and it’s ridiculously fantastic! I love the bickering and tension. And when they explode, they explode! Loved all their sexy time scenes.

Get ready for some serious fun, a whole lot of sweetness and off the charts sexy in this incredibly entertaining story. And don’t forget the hate-flirt!

Received a early copy through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

This is the first time in coming across this author so I thought I would give a this a try. Theo and Genevieve give us this tale which will have us wonder whom will come out on top? You are given a picture of what a princess can be, one that at times puts smiles on our faces. This author does give those whom are looking for a good contemporary read that will lighten the load of the day.

A wonderful second book in Christi Barth's Royals series!

I thoroughly enjoyed Theo and Genevieve's interactions as they learn there is more to each other than meets the eye. They definitely start off at odds with him being an auditor going over her spending. He also happens to greatly dislike the royal family. However, over time they move from being enemies to seeing so much more is possible between them.

The author did a great job creating an entertaining and engaging story. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens next in Moncriano!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via netgalley. However, all opinions are my own.

I was sold at the romance of a "commoner" and a royal and I was not disappointed! At first, Genevieve seems a bit shallow and one dimensional but it is quickly established that she has a heart. Theo Holst has a singular goal of exposing the monarchy and he thought he'd have an easy go of it. Instead, when he's faced with Genevieve and her sense of duty and loyalty to her people, he is forced to take another look. This felt like I was reading something similar to the Princess Diaries and I loved it! I loved seeing the natural progression of Theo's feelings toward the monarchy change as well as Genny's feelings for him turning into something more. I also plan to pick up the first one, as I haven't had a chance to and this one included just enough details to get me intrigued!

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC of the book. I loved this book so much, the storyline was wonderful, I enjoyed every moment of Genny and Theo's banter, their chemistry, their dialogues was all spectacularly written. I'm looking forward to read the next book, I'm so intrigued by Chris's future as a king and his story.

Ruling the Princess is a royal romance that is cute, humorous, and witty. Theo was exiled and is sent on an assignment to audit Princess Genevieve. It's supposed to be easy, but once he gets to know the real Genny the assignment is the last thing he is thinking about.

Genevieve is known to be a spoiled princess. Doing nothing and spending lots of money. She is definitely misunderstood and doesn't let anyone in. When she meets Lord Theo, she is standoff-ish. She is also intrigued.

Theo is a man who has been burned in the past. He is done playing nice and doesn't care who gets in his way. Things definitely change when he gets to know Princess Genny.

They have a unique and strong bond. And things heat up when they give in to their own desires. One night to get them out of their system. That didn't end up like they expected because they can't keep their hands off of each other.

Such a great series and Christi Barth gave us another must-read with Ruling the Princess.

I give Ruling the Princess 4 stars. It's a great read for anyone who likes a royal romance. It's got the sweet and spice and everything nice. You will love Genny and Theo!

An enjoyable read, a nice romance with relatable characters, my first book in the series but I wasn’t lost at all. I didn’t find not knowing the other books put me at a disadvantage. It’s an interesting look at royal life and has a good twist at the end, an entertaining read.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

With a series title like Sexy Misadventures of Royals, how could I not want to read this book? Christi Barth continues her series with Ruling the Princess, a romantic comedy about Princess Genevieve, whos is second in line and an anti-royal auditor assigned to asses her finances.

I have had the first book in this series on my TBR for months. I was pretty hesitant about starting this without finishing the previous one, but they said it was a standalone so I gave it my all. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This book is such a lovely change of pace from a lot of other royal romance books, and while I can figure out the plot of the story I missed it didn't hold me back from enjoying Genny and Theo's relationship. I loved how well everyone communicated and seemed so capable of growing and changing and holding two ideas in their head at a time.

I can't wait to go back and read book number 1! If you are a fan of royal romances and rom-coms you need to give this one a try.

Christi Barth continues her Sexy Misadventures of Royals series with Ruling the Princess, a royal romantic comedy about Princess Genevieve second in line to the throne and the sexy royal auditor assigned to carefully asses all her expenses.

After years of being in exile, Theo Holst is back in Moncriano tasked with an important assignment that will help determine the future of the monarchy and their nation. He thought it’d be easy to put a spoiled princess in her place, especially since there was no love lost between him and his image of the royals.

After spending time with Princess Genevieve, it’s clear she’s not only beautiful on outside, but on the inside as well. It’s clear he can’t keep his hands off her and his heart is in peril of falling. Can he find a way to finish his project without bias and without giving ammo to those who want to see the royals discredited?

Barth pens an entertaining, emotive and sexy story which perfectly combines all I love in romance. The banter between Theo and Genevieve is fast and witty. Genevieve is smart, caring and determined. After getting over his long fostered prejudice against royals turns out to be charming, understanding and absolutely sexy and swoony. And the sexy times were well balanced by touching ones.

In this rom-com page-turner, Barth reminds her readers that being a princess is not about the glamour but duty and responsibility. Genevieve is warm, thoughtful and compassionate who pushed Theo as much as he did her.

Barth’s writing style invites readers to enjoy the ride with her charming take on her characters with a realistic look at the hazards of being a royal.

Ruling the Princess is book #2 of the Sexy Misadventures of Royals> series by author Christi Barth. It is a delectable standalone contemporary romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending. Sub-Genre: royals.

Full Review to come

Ruling the Princess is the perfect escapist book for a people stuck at home during a global pandemic. It is a quick, fun read with some pretty steamy sex scenes.

I absolutely love what Christi Barth has done with this series and cannot wait to read Christian’s story. Theo is back in his home country after years of exile. His job is to audit Genevieve who he considers his enemy. She, on the other, doesn’t remember him and is royally pissed that he is auditing her. What starts off as an epic match of wills, eventually becomes steamy. As a royal she has been living a life fit for the public eye but Theo makes her want to seek personal happiness. The story is chock full of witty conversations and funny situations. It has a well defined plot that develops each character into a whole person. It is an absolute delight to read.

Princess Genevieve finds love in Theo!

Princess Genevieve of Moncriano is upset that she has been assigned an auditor to go over her budget (not that she actually has one) before Moncriano receives an invitation to join the European Union. She would prefer that they audit someone else but when Lord Theo Holst tells her to pick less expensive items, she decides to show him why the royal family has certain traditions it needs to keep.

Lord Theo Holst made a promise that he would never set foot back in Moncriano after leaving for boarding school but when he was asked to do the audit he figured out that he could prove that the country didn’t need the royal family.

Ruling the Princess is definitely a story where hate or actually major dislike turns to love when they figure out that the other isn’t who they expected. It’s the second book in the Sexy Misadventures of Royals and I really want to read the next book where get to read Christian and Mallory’s story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
