As a British monarchy history buff, the Uncrowned Queen hit all the right notes in telling the story of the mother who schemed to put her Tudor son on the throne that would spark one of the biggest stories in the history of the British Monarchy. Her story is a harrowing insight of how far a mother's love is willing to go to see her son in his rightful place. A move that would forever change the monarchy .

This is an amazingly-researched account of the life of Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII of England. With excellent pacing and lots of adventure, this read almost like a novel. My only trouble was with trying to keep all the characters straight, which is not a failure of the author, but rather a failure of my own memory!

Uncrowned Queen by Nicola Tallis is an exceptional biography about Margaret Beaufort. This is honestly the best biography that I have read thus far concerning this fascinating, albeit extremely misunderstood, woman. Was she perfect? Heck no. She had her faults, but despite this, she was a deeply religious and loyal person. She was strong, she had to be to survive during this difficult time (especially for women).

This book has been meticulously researched and it presented in a straightforward, unbiased, and factual way, but yet at the same time, it is easy to comprehend and devour.

Excellent book.
