The Honest Enneagram is a funny, honest, and insightful look at the different Enneagram types. I adore Sarajane Case's Instagram page and this was a beautifully put together collection of all the information she shares there.

I highly recommend this book, especially if you are looking for an informative piece on the topic without a religious slant.

Very interesting and I'm glad I had a chance to read it. The author seemed to understand the subject matter quite well and I was impressed with the descriptions that were easy to understand. I'm pretty sure I'm a 7, but not sure what else. It's always been hard for me to understand myself.

Thank you for this gifted book!

The Honest Enneagram by Sarajane Case is a thoughtful, interesting book on the enneagram. If you don’t the enneagram or are looking for a good overview of it, then this book is an ideal read. A fun read, this book is a great companion to Sarajane’s fantastic Instagram account ‘EnneagramAndCoffee’. If you’ve read other somewhat trudging or boring explanations of the enneagram, try this book instead. It’s a fun and smart book! Sarajane Case has done an excellent job.

Thank you to NetGalley for the complimentary copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Have you ever wanted an honest assessment and then received someone’s brutally honest reply? Well, rest assured this is not Sarajane’s purpose. Her purpose with this book is to reflect our very natures to us in a kindly mirror of your personality through each enneagram type. She presumes some basic knowledge as Sarajane takes the listener/reader on a quirky journey through each enneagram type. At the end of each enneagram bio, she gives some brief practices that could restore and strengthen your spirits. Imagine you and the simple practice that could restore your sense of you more holistically. I imagine it would be if we are seeing ourselves through a dingy mirror (i.e. too fat or giant zit or some other flaw hidden within) and Case provides some gentle wipes in order to see ourselves more clearly.

In full disclosure, I’ve followed Case’s Instagram since her beginning and can attest to enjoying each post as if I’m sipping coffee with a gentle breeze.

Recommended: for anyone wanting to know themselves more fully; Enneagram addicts.

Concise while also going in-depth with each enneagram type. I enjoyed the down-to-earth style and the fun BINGO cards for each chapter.

It is a very nice book if you want to learn more about enneagram in general. I wanted to learn more about my own one and to get to know myself some more. Also, this topic interests me so I wasn't disappointed

I was following Sarajane Case on IG when she was writing this book and was so excited to read the finished product. I’m interested in all things Enneagram, and appreciate the respect and perspective that Sarajane provides. A fantastic tool for self-exploration and understanding.

Interesting book on the enneagram. I love how easy it was to understand. Anyone could pick this up and have a foundational understanding. It’s best for beginners, but also good for people with more in-depth knowledge. Filled in some gaps for me which was great.
I received a digital copy of this book from netgalley. I was in no way required to write a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

I loved it! Definitely gave me insight into my type. I particularly liked the H.O.N.E.S.T approach. Thanks so much for this insightful, fun little book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I requested this book because awhile back I suddenly developed an interest in learning my type when I saw a post about Enneagrams on Instagram. Soon after, I read my first book on the subject and learned my type. I can't say I disagreed with what it had to say about me. This book seemed to agree with what the other had to say as well. I guess I really don't change much. :) This book would be a great introduction to the nine types of Enneagrams as it is not super technical and in her introduction, Sarajane says that she wants the book to feel like a conversation with a friend, which was exactly how it felt. Like any other Enneagram book, there are chapters for each type, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Ultimately, it means that a large part of the book is just not for you...but I actually like to know the various types and try to figure our who in my life belongs to which Enneagram. :)All in all, a good book. :)

Insightful text to gain a better perspective of oneself. This book would be a good addition for employers to read in order to promote self-awareness and a deep reflection for employees. Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I wanted this book to be more than it was. I think it is a good and simple introduction to the enneagram but this is not the book I would send people to if they were trying to learn more. This certainly wasn't bad, but it felt like the same sort of information I get from Instagram in a book format.

As someone who has been introduced to the concepts of the enneagram but wants to get much deeper into it, The Honest Enneagram is perfect.

Disclosure, I am a disciple of SarahJane Case. I love the way she speaks. I love the way she makes the enneagram accessible. I love the way she guides the enneagram journey. This book is a collection of all the things that make Enneagram and Coffee the joy that it is. Each type is described in detail. Challenges, strengths, and considerations for each type are included. This makes it easy to learn more about yourself and how you place yourself in the world. When you have friends or loved ones who know their type or begin their journey, The Honest Enneagram allows you to read more about their type to not only help them get a better understanding of who they are but also who you can be to help them be a better [type number]. This is especially true for partners. While the enneagram is not an excuse for behavior, it helps to bring awareness to why we are the way we are.

If you want to get a better understanding of the enneagram, yourself, and the world, you need The Honest Enneagram.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Enneagram resource. It really distinguishes itself as different because of the author's H.O.N.E.S.T. system for growth.

The tone of this is conversational, which I love in a nonfiction book. She covers some introductory material - her experience, her philosophy, her emphases (subtypes, lines, wings, levels of health). Then she addresses each type, following a pattern, where she works through basic information, subtypes, wings, and levels of health. Then she applies her H.O.N.E.S.T. system to each type. I loved this part. Readers don't have to guess how to apply it themselves to their individual type - she shows you how it might look for you. I liked how practical the information was.

This is a beginner's resource, but if you are specifically digging into the Enneagram to use it for personal growth, this adds a nice extra feature with this H.O.N.E.S.T. piece. I will definitely be adding this resource to my Enneagram library for this reason.

I really enjoyed this book and the cute illustrations that came with it. I originally followed the author's Instagram and was excited to read further into this subject. It did not disappoint! However, another reviewer mentioned that they wished the book delved a little deeper into interpersonal relationships with the different enneagram types, and I am inclined to agree. That said, I enjoyed reading about how best to grow into my type and found it very informative.

Thanks again to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this guide. I have always been intrigued by personality tests, and the enneagram is one of the most renowned due to its various studies and research that has gone into understanding each personality type. Sarajane Case does a great job at introducing the average person to the different methods of understanding one's results to this test.

This book can be read cover to cover or you can jump around to read about whichever types interest you the most. With handy headings and subheadings, you are able to choose how you wish to read this helpful guide to one of the world's most popular personality tests.

While there is a wealth of knowledge out there about this ancient map of the human psyche, this book is one of the most compassionate and relatable that I have ever read.
I am a busy middle school teacher with a family and a commitment-filled life and learning about my deepest fears, desires, and patterns (both positive and negative) was rough when I first started this journey. So many texts were honest but to the point of being harsh and blunt. I had to "take breaks" from other books because I felt attacked and ashamed.
The Honest Enneagram is gentle and comforting while maintaining a firm stance on the importance of facing the hard truths. Case doesn't shy away from revealing the unhealthy behaviors of each type, but she reassures her reader that growth and change are possible and attainable. She even provides coaching to help her audience begin this journey. This book is information and action all in one.
Case's writing is relaxed and comfortable. She isn't condescending or childish in her diction, but the book is highly accessible for readers of all ages and abilities. She includes popular memes/posts from her Instagram page and "type bingo boards" which are unique and a real selling point.
I feel this book's intended audience is female/feminine as well as someone who is already somewhat familiar with their Enneagram type.

My very first exposure to the enneagram was through the Instagram account @enneagramandcoffee, which is run by Sarajane Case. All of my friends were sharing their types' bingo squares, and I had to see more. A long time and a lot of research later, and I am a huge fan of the enneagram.

This book is written as an introduction to the nine enneagram types and the different subtypes. A lot of other enneagram resources tend to be super technical, and often quite critical. This has resulted in what some claim to be the easiest way to type yourself - read through each type and whichever description hurts your feelings the most is probably your number. Sarajane, though, put a beautiful spin on each type, highlighting weaknesses alongside strengths. In her introduction, she says that she wants the book to feel like a conversation with a friend, which was definitely conveyed in her writing style.

Each chapter starts with a quote about the type, the bingo sheet for that type, and then a graphic about how each type would handle a certain situation. Most of these I had already seen since I follow her on Instagram, but I enjoyed the visual content interspersed between the text of the chapters. She then gives a description of the type and subtypes for each number, and the applies her HONEST method for how to grow. It was a good balance of identifying the areas for growth while reminding readers of their strengths.

My only complaint about this book was that each chapter is really written to that type. For example, I am a five. I read the descriptions of each type, but most of the chapters didn't apply to me because I didn't need to know how to grow as a two, because I am not a two. I would have loved it if she had included insights on how to interact with each type as a way of making every chapter more valuable to readers.

Overall, this book is a great introduction into the enneagram!
