A wonderful collection of 130 paintings by Audubon. Always did like his style for birds. If you do as well you will love this edition. Highly recommend.

Another beautiful offering from Dover Publications. Magnificent, detailed, hand-colored illustrations grace the pages of this stunning book—a feast for the eyes. You'll want to frame the pictures and leave this one out on your coffee table for family and guests to admire. Five stars.

This book encompasses 130 plates from John James Audubon's "The Birds of America" octavo version. There is a brief introduction discussing his life and work, focusing on the creation of "The Birds of America" and how the octavo version came to be made. Then we have the plates- swoon! What can I say about the artwork, simply gorgeous. A perfect gift for any art and/or bird lover!

A collection of John James Audubon's original artwork depicting birds of North America. The rich colors and lifelike poses make the birds leap off the page, even now, nearly 200 years after they were originally painted. (One observation: female birds really got the short end of the branch--the males get all the bright colors and plumage.) Will appeal to artists and nature lovers in particular.

Treasury of Audubon Birds: 130 Plates from The Birds of America by John James Audubon with the introduction by Alan Weissman. I love the splendor and simplicity of drawings by John James Audubon. This current collection includes 130 plates from the original 1838 octavo version.
I was very excited to view the beautiful selection of birds I am so familiar with seeing by John James Audubon. I inherited several large framed prints that were distributed in the 1950s as special collector's editions. This collection has a variety of backyard birds, wading birds, and so many others any bird lover will recognize. The artist's rendering of the delicate bird structure is so fine and detailed. The delicate colors give a subtle tone of life to each of the artworks. The Treasury of Audubon Birds is a delightfully beautiful addition for bird lovers and artists.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book is almost luscious in the artwork. Beautiful, stunning, makes me realize my artistic "ability" of stick figures is not something to brag about, lol.

This would be a great gift for bird watchers, lovers and also those into American history. Unfortunately, some of these birds depicted in this book are no longer with us. Cuz humans like to kill things, cuz they can. Sigh.

Only thing I would have liked to see included, maybe on the opposite page of each picture, the range of the bird where it was found and can be found in the wild, if it is no longer with us and the date it was declared extinct,

Solid 4 star book and one I will recommend to our customers definitely.

My thanks to NetGalley and Dover Publications for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

A gorgeous collection of John James Audubon’s prints from the mid-19th century – if you like birds, art, or art and birds, or if you’re just fond of nature in general, then you will enjoy this book. As a birdwatching newbie, I loved seeing Audubon’s illustrations of some of the birds I see every day here in the Pacific Northwest. And some that just look bizarre when drawn 19th century-style – like the flamingo, which looks like its super high. In all, a lovely collection of bird pictures – not much information otherwise, but if you just want pictures (which I often do because I’m lazy) this is the book for you.

The introduction of this book gives brief information about the author’s life and his work. The book is 130 plates from the famous book of “ The Birds of America” (which contained 435 plates). The exquisite color plates are gorgeous. Each plate has the name of the bird as most of us know it besides the modern name known by ornithologists. I loved looking at each plate. My favorites were the plates where the male and female adults besides the youth were noted. Sometimes the male and female bird’s difference in color is very small. I think that this is a wonderful book for everyone to have. I suspect that it would make a good gift for a birders.

A beautiful facsimile of Audubon's masterpieces, this is a collection of 130 colour plates depicting the birds of America as shown in the original work of 1838. A classic work and a must for every bookshelf.
Many thanks to the publisher for a review copy.
