Recently, my seven year old son has been struggling to relax when it comes to bed time. Some nights he falls asleep right away and other nights, he is constantly coming to our room saying "I can't sleep". Alas, I found this book and requested it right away.

I love how easy the meditation activities are to do. They are something that I can do with my son or just as easily have him complete on his own. I highly recommend this book and plan on buying a copy for his room soon.

We are absolutely loving this book right now, especially my 7 year old who is feeling the stress of coronavirus in a real way each night before bed since that's the time her anxious brain kicks in with worry. Doing 1 or 2 of these meditations each night is perfect to help her relieve a little stress and relax. I also have a 2 year old and she's curious about these meditations, but ultimately her attention span is not long enough to really do them so the age range is probably about right. Looking forward to similar books in the future!

Cory Cochiolo's Bedtime Meditations for Kids feels like a cozy hug. Each meditation is set up step-by-step for easy understanding and following along.

While I loved reading this as an adult, boy mom, former Kindergarten teacher, I was surprised that the writing was aimed at the child. I like the idea of a child coming to this book when they need to calm themselves before bed later in elementary school (and even beyond into middle school), but the wording felt much more "adult" than a young child would be able to read and understand.

Also, while I understand the need to use the general term of "caregiver" instead of specifics like "mom," "dad," etc, it also makes it feel more clinical which can quickly take the reader out of the cozy cocoon the author was creating. Maybe switch up the "caregiver" title with each meditation? Mom for one, Dad for another, Grandma, Sister, Cousin, Babysitter, Nanny, etc...?

Overall, though, I truly enjoyed the meditations in this book. I plan on using it with my own children (aged 4 & 7) and I can easily see these working beautifully in a classroom setting. Imagine how calming a resting time could be with the teacher reading the words as the children rest on the floor, at their desks, or in a circle. It is a perfect way to bring calm to the classroom.
