I find the women of the Bible a fascinating lens through which to get new insights into the ancient text. This book combines that insight with a devotional format that will carry you through the year.

What a wonderful devotional and study guide for the women of the Bible. The chapters are short and well written with a good Table of contents in case you have a favorite you want to skip to. It can be a wonderful start to your morning so you can reflect as your day proceeds. It can also plant a seed for further research by giving you a glimpse into some of the lesser known women. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is an interesting take on the women of the Bible. I enjoyed her view point. The devos are short and casual. The writing very personable.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.

I received this as an ARC for my honest review. While I can't read this completely I have been using this in place of another devotional for the past few weeks and have of course skimmed ahead. I love a good motivational read like the next person however when it comes to choosing a devotional there must be scripture. Often times a devotional turns into a self help with context from the world and not the word. This devotional is a must have for all of the women in your life.

A beautiful collection of scripture verse and stories to strengthen the modern day Christian woman!

This book is intended to be a 52 week devotional for a year of insights into how the Bible speaks to women. There are 52 chapters and each focuses on a woman in the Bible -or- a scripture verse that can strengthen women. Some chapters have guided reflections, journal prompts, or challenges to embark on. All of the chapters are fairly concise but provide context for the story and offer insights to what we can learn from the story or verse. The author encourages you to use the book as part of a weekly devotional or as part of a small group study.

I chose to read the book cover to cover over a couple of weeks and found it deeply inspirational. I am too impatient to read the same book for a whole year (ha!). I was able to find deep connections to the women in the Bible in ways that I have never been able to before. Williams does a GREAT job of modernizing the stories and making them real - making these women feel like sisters. Women just like me. I will say that she takes a couple of liberties here and there, filling in some blanks to the stories that aren't provided - that may be off putting to some, but most of them resonated with me.

What I took from this book were VERY POWERFUL INSIGHTS that we have more to learn from the women in the Bible than what is given at face value. I now understand the courage of Esther, the leadership skills of Ruth, the boundaries of Vashti, the humility of Hagar, and so much more.

Some people have been critical of this book because it focuses more on what the women did in their individual circumstances versus focusing on what God did in these women's lives. I don't agree - I feel that the goal of this book is to empower women of today by emulating the actions of the women in the Bible - and building bridges from their time period to our own. While God does do miraculous things in each of our lives, w are expected to develop skills and ACT. In this book, the author shows how the women in the Bible did just that. This book was a breath of fresh air for me!

A well written, well organized bible study for women. I received an arc from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.
