This is the first time reading anything by this author, so I didn't really know what to expect. This book was fast paced and easy to read. There were lots of twists and turns that I didn't expect. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to Litfuse Publicity for a free copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I received this free book from Litfuse via NetGallery. Now, here is the thing. NetGallery lets you read books before they are published. It seems to me that in the process of getting a digital copy of a book before it is published means you must put up with some inconsistencies in formatting. I'm sure the published print and e-version will be easier to read.

However, all formatting issues aside, this book was awesome! I found myself hurrying through random blank "pages" on my Kindle to get to the story. It is quite a long book-400 pages, but I didn't notice. In fact, when I finished it, I felt like it had just begun! I am excited for the next books in the series, there is so much more to be told of this story. I think that I read so fast, gulping the words down, that I may need to go back and savor the book a bit more.

The characters made sense to me. Their stories rang true and I could relate to their struggles. While it sounds a lot like a Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker book, all spiritual warfare and mysterious. It really is a book about freedom. About letting God heal our wounds and living in the freedom of His grace and love.

I wanted to read this book both because of its content and story line but also because the author is from the Pacific Northwest (PNW). I love reading local authors. It was fun to read about places that I know, local places. It added quite a bit to the book for me.

WOW! What a ride this book was! I cannot stop talking about it!
Soul's Gate centers around four individuals who are called together for a greater purpose. Reese Roth teaches the other three to embrace the true power of the Holy Spirit. They open their eyes to the realities of the spiritual realm in many way, and they begin to use His power to intercede for each other, replace lies, tear down strongholds, fight the enemy, and find freedom. The imagery of bondage and freedom in this book led me to tears multiple times.

The plot is fast-paced and unique with relationships, spiritual warfare, action, and suspense. The characters come to life on the page, especially as you glimpse into their souls. The author's notes at the end of the book discuss the reality versus fiction of the story. Most importantly, the theme and impact are powerful. True freedom is beautiful! That freedom is only found through Jesus and his Holy Spirit in us. The Holy Spirit is alive and powerful. He can erase the lies that we tell ourselves, and He replaces those lies with Truth...the truth that sets us free. Once we are free we can do all that He has planned for us.

I have to say again, "WOW!" This book inspired me to want to know Him more and to serve Him in a powerful way. He wants to use us and bless us in amazing ways, and I want to be used by Him. I highly recommend this book, and I am so thrilled that I received a free e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

Once in a while a book comes along that’s as relatable as it is enjoyable (no coincidence, I’m sure). This was one of those books.

The author deals with spiritual warfare along with some universal themes: regret, family dynamics, relationship issues, and one’s calling. The idea that people can war for each other in each other's souls was unique and interesting.

I liked the main setting—the Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I enjoy Christian books that cross over into supernatural territory, which this one did a lot. The author demonstrated the truth that there is power in our words and the truth does set people free. I could relate with the warfare and how Jim portrayed the fierce battles with demons, but how Jesus’s name, His blood, His power overcame for them. These characters weren’t perfect, and that was relatable too.

This novel transcended entertainment. I found myself thinking differently, praying differently while reading. Readers pick up new tools, new perspectives. You can't put a price on that.

Once again, reading this story felt like watching a movie. I could see the battles, the adventures. And just when I thought something might go one way, he’d surprise me with a twist while he kept things focused on the team of heroes. Their courage inspired me. And I can’t wait until their next adventure.

Highly recommended!
