I love reading books by Colleen Coble. The story flows smoothly and she keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book is no exception to that. This is the second book in the Pelican Harbor series but you will not be lost in this one if you have not read the first one.

Jane Hardy is the police chief in their small town. She has taken over for her father and has had some stuff go on that has pretty much shook their little town. Jane's dad had kept a secret from her that she just found out. Her son that she thought had been killed when he was little is alive and well. Jane has found him and is trying to reconnect with him.

Jane is working on a murder case and when things get personal and they threaten her son, she knows that she has to do everything in her power to find out who has done this to her town. She had to not only protect the people of her own town, but her own son. This action packed read will keep you turning the pages along with Jane as she sets out to find her murderer. There is also some romance thrown in there and makes the story even better.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book. I can't wait for the next installment in the Pelican Harbor series!

After reading One Little Lie earlier this year, I could hardly wait to start Two Reasons to Run (the first book ending with an amazing cliffhanger!). I really enjoyed how this book followed the same main characters and continued their story.

I found the suspense to be very good. I was nervous about what would happen to certain characters - especially Will. The ending was great and, while still a cliffhanger, not as intense as the first book.

All in all, Two Reasons to Run was a great sequel and I am looking forward to the next book. I recommend this series, but be sure to read the books in order.

This is an insane book. Jane was brought up and forded to “breed” inside a cult. There was a fire right after she had the baby and her father took her away and told her the baby died. Several year later the father of her child finds her. During this time people begin to target her and her reacquainted son. She has to get over her fathers lie in order to keep her and her son safe while trying to figure out who is trying to kill them.

Two Reasons to Run is the second in the Pelican Harbor series by Colleen Coble. When we meet up again with Reid Dixon and Police Chief Jane Hardy, there is tension.

A LOT of tension.

No spoilers here, but let’s just say Jane’s been lied to. And this lie? It’s a big one. So when there is a murder at a local oil platform, she wants nothing more than to solve this crime without Reid by her side. Problem is, her son’s life is now in danger. And for Jane, just getting to know her son, she will stop at nothing to make sure he is safe.

The story line is fast-paced and exciting, and I appreciate the way the author is able to tell a suspenseful story without any unnecessary gore or violence. The twists were minor but effective and I was pleasantly surprised at the ending.

And while the main story is the murder on the oil platform, the secondary story takes us to the edge of the cult, which helps to explain why there is so much tension between Reid and Jane, as well as Jane and her father. The author leaves a few ends untied, which makes me hopeful we will be introduced to additional characters in the upcoming conclusion of this series.

In addition to the story, there were so many messages and lessons hidden within these pages. Betrayal, forgiveness, trust and love. How even though people can disappoint us, we are human and fail short of perfection. How forgiving someone isn’t forgetting the what happened, but allowing ourselves to heal and fully live.

While Coble does a really good job of explaining the details surrounding Reid, Jane and Will in this current story, readers will probably want to check out the first of the series, One Little Lie, before they take this one on.

I’m very excited to read the third and final book in this series, Three Missing Days, to be released in April, 2021. Getting to know the characters and then meeting them again in subsequent stories is definitely a way to get me to read your books!

Overall, a really good read.

An enjoyable series with a little romance and suspense.

In book two we continue to learn more about the background of Jane, Reid, and Will. As Jane is coming to terms with her new family she has to stop a possible terrorist attack on an oil rig in the bay.

This is a fast-paced read that has you on the edge of your seat at times. I suggest reading book one first so you understand the relationship between Jane, Reid, and Will.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, through Netgalley. All opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

With terrorism, a family’s safety at stake, and more suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat, Two Reasons to Run is a must read!

Police Chief Jane Hardy is still learning to live with the fact that she has found her son. Her father kept so many secrets from her and now her son’s father Reid is in her life whether she wants him to be or not. When she is approached by a local woman saying her son is missing, she starts looking into the disappearance and possible murder on the oil platform Zeus. Soon, she is in the middle of a terrorist plot to bring down the oil platform with the life of her son is now in jeopardy. Reid has been investigating the oil platform as well for a documentary and they together work to expose who is trying to bring the platform down and keep their son safe. Tensions fly as they get closer to catching a killer but also further from the safety for their family that they are trying so hard to bring back together.

Two Reasons to Run is the second installment in the Pelican Harbor series; normally books like these, romantic suspense series, don’t always have to be read in order. They might have some of the same characters but each one has a new set of protagonist male and female that we get to see work through their problems to try and be together. With this one though, I had read the previous book, but it had been a while and I felt like I needed to go back and reread it to fully get the story in front of me. The further I got in the story, the better I remembered what had been happening and was able to follow along. That said, this is not one for a new reader to pick up without knowing the back story of the characters. One of the best aspects of this story was the family relationship Jane had and the way it tugged at the emotions. When her son is threatened, especially since she had just gotten him back in her life, it took the stakes to a whole new level. This was a great sequel with so much more at stake for the characters that readers will have no problem making a personal connection and letting the story pull at their hearts as they turn the pages. I was able to read this one very quickly and really felt pulled into the story once it got going. The end was very satisfying but also left open enough for another in the series to follow. I recommend to readers that have read the first in the series and are ready for far more action, suspense and romance.

Jane, police chief of a small town, has to figure out what happened to a young man that disappeared off a oil rig. When her son that she has just been reunited with is threatened, it’s up to her and his father, Reid to keep him safe. Can they find the person threatening him?

Police Chief Jane Hardy returns and this time, the killer is after her own son and this determined and protective mama won't take it! He has messed with the wrong person when he goes after Will. She will do anything to get her son to safety. I loved this book and I highly recommend it.

Colleen Coble is an amazing author who has the ability to weave stories that draw you in and make you feel like you're living it right here and now. This book is the same.

Two Reasons to Run is book two in a series. I personally feel that you should read the series in order as there are things you might miss out on. You could pick up this book and easily get to a point of filling yourself in and understanding what's going on, but why do that when you can just know it all by reading book one first?

I love the characters. Police Cheif Jane has had a unique life. She was raised in a cult and got out. She thought her son was dead and really didn't want to think much about the man who was supposedly her husband. But now both are back in her life.

She can't wait to get to know her son and she's still sorting out her feelings for the man who was once her husband.

But on top of that now her son is the target of a killer due to a case she and Reid are investigating. Can they keep him safe? Who is behind this all? It's a race to find the man in charge of this mess before Jane loses the son she just found.

This was a wonderful book and I could not put it down. I can't wait until the third book comes out. I think I'll reread the whole series in the week leading up to the third book. Just to make the characters alive and ready in my mind again.

This is an author I love and every new book of hers is immediately added to my must-read shelf. They often skip to the first spot.

Two Reasons to Run is the sequel to One Little Lie. I know some series can be read as standalones or out of order, but this is one you definitely will want to read after finishing One Little Lie. This story picks up right where that one left off with a cliff hanger.

Just like the first one, this book was fast paced and full of suspense. It centers around the same characters and I enjoyed seeing their relationships develop with one another in the midst of quite a complicated past to say the least.

I am looking forward to the third in the series which releases next year.

I was given an ebook copy by the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

More danger and intrigue in the continuing saga of Chief of Police Jane Hardy and Reid Dixon.
In this story, Jane is hot on the tail of someone intent on destroying an oil rig out in the ocean. Only nobody believes her, and she's not sure just what is going on.
The story also continues delving into the backstory of Jane and Reid, and gives more of their history.
I enjoyed reading this story, and look forward to reading the final book in the series.
This story is exceptional, and I did not want to put it down until I'd reached the end. If you enjoy mystery and suspense, you won't want to miss it!

This is the second book in the Pelican Harbor series by author Colleen Coble. I am a fan of the author's work and was pleased to receive this next in series for review. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity,

Police Chief Jane Hardy is finally reunited with her 15 year old son and his Father. While they are building their relationships and learning how to be a family Jane is investigating a series of threats to a oil rig in their bay. The threat is serious and Jane must act fast to stop the destruction from destroying the bay. When a murder occurs on a oil rig Jane must work to solve the murder and stop the threat to her bay. Her son is put in danger and protecting him and his Father is her top priority .

The plot is excellent and the suspense perfect for the subject. I enjoy the charcters in this series and Jane is a smart savvy investigator. I look forward to the next in series.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first book in this series. Jane just seemed to whiny and needs to act her age, her son was more mature in this story than her. She took too many risks and put her family in danger. I do want to read the next story to see how this all ends.

TWO REASONS TO RUN is the second book in this series. It is a continuing series so readers will need to read them in order. It had been a year since I read the first book, so it took me several pages to remember.

Jane and Reid both have a lot of baggage to work through and it keeps getting deeper with no end in sight.

The crime who-dun-it kept me guessing. Who and why? But I had to admire Jane's tenacity. She is a super hero.

If you're looking for a great romantic suspense to read, here it is. It'll leave you anxious to read book three...next year.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

This is one of the first books in this genre which I have read. I wasn't sure I wanted to read it, and I wasn't sure whether I would like it when I had read it. Let's just say I procrastinated starting for those reason, but I was definitely missing out on a great story by procrastinating!

I didn't know this was the second book in a series, but I must say it was an incredible read despite being "left out" of certain knowledge. I haven't read such an exciting, clean book in such a long time. It was beautiful to see two characters who had such struggles and obstacles between them joining together with a common goal. Oftentimes, it is easy to lean into characters simply falling in love to remove obstacles rather than working together to overcome obstacles. This book was definitely one of a couple overcoming obstacles to let the characters finally be able to fall in love with each other.

Plus, the story wasn't only about the romance. The story was focused on the mystery and solving it and on the relationship between the whole family. It was so good to see a broken family working together to come back together. It was also so beautiful to see a man who was clearly in love hold back because he knew that she wasn't ready. Relationships are hard work, and it is easier to rush in too fast, to be brash without regard to other's feelings, or to give up when things get hard. It was beautiful to read a book that inspires commitment and sacrificial love.

I will definitely be looking into reading the first book in this series!

Two Reasons to Run is the second book in the Pelican Harbor series, coming after One Little Lie. Jane Hardy, the police chief of Pelican Harbor, is enjoying her new relationship with her long lost son, Will, but she is not ready to try to trust Reid Dixon again after he has hidden the truth from her. When an odd disappearance on a nearby oil rig teams Jane and Reid up, their investigation puts not only their lives at risk, but the lives of those close to them. As they work together to find the truth, will they also be able to repair the damage done to their relationship?

I found Two Reasons to Run to be an exciting story with lots of action and likable characters. One thing I appreciate about Jane’s character is that her heart doesn’t heal and move on in the course of a conversation. She protects her heart. In real life, it takes time time to heal and learn to trust again after a betrayal, and Jane has been wounded, so she doesn’t give her trust to people who haven’t earned it. It feels very true to life. I appreciate the role of faith in this story, as in all of Colleen Coble’s books. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I look forward to the next book in the series (Three Missing Days, coming in 2021).

Reviewed for publisher via Netgalley for an honest review:

I'm starting Two Reasons to Run: Colleen Coble is a very hit or miss author with me. I have read books of hers that I couldn't put down and books that it took everything for me to get through it. This book was part of the latter group. For the life of me, I couldn't get into the characters of this book. I found myself having to read and reread sections because I had either skimmed over or forgotten what I had read due to a lack of interest.

I will say that I have not read the first book in this series. Could have that have helped my enjoyment of this book? Maybe or maybe not.
