This book is simply amazing! I almost believe it's the best book
Colleen Coble has written that I have read. I had to stay with it until
the end. I can't wait to read #3 of this series.

This book is the 2nd book in the Pelican Harbor series. This is a series that you must read in order. The story begins with a mystery in the 1st book and the mystery is solved but the story is not wrapped up. There is a new mystery to solve in this 2nd book and again, the story is not wrapped up.. The drama of the relationships goes on. I don't think I liked this book quite as much as the first book. Still, I liked it enough, and I am still interested in the characters and what happens to them. However, some of the relationship twists are a bit trying. Jane's attitude is beginning to bug me. She doesn't give the men in her life a break, at all. I think the relationship between Reid and Jane was sadly lacking sparks in this book. I am hoping for redemption in the next book. I have to say that this type of drawing the same characters drama out in a 3 book series isn't my favorite. I like it better when books in the series feature different characters who are connected in some way. I hope that the author will stick to that type of line in the next series she writes. I appreciate Netgalley and Thomas Nelson publishing allowing me the opportunity to review this book prior to it's release.

This is a captivating mystery. As the relationship between Jane and Reid moves forward, so does a threat against a local oil rig and their Gulf shoreline. There were plenty of twists and turns, suspense, and drama. Although this mystery can stand alone, reading the first book in the trilogy first would give a better understanding of the back story on Jane and Reid. Excellent read - I highly recommend it!

Police Chief Jane and her ex Reid are working out the fact that Reid kept her son hidden from her for 15 years. There Is also a mystery in the book. An oil rig worker has gone missing after sending cryptic e mails about a possible attack on an oil rig. I enjoyed this story but a big part of it was left unresolved for the next book. I don’t like a book that leaves so much of the story for the next book. Except for this issue I would have given this book 4* instead of 3. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Another fast-paced, adrenaline-inducing suspense story from Colleen Coble. Will Police Chief Hardy and Reid Bechtol be able to stop a saboteur in time to save an oil platform from being blown up? You’ll have to read it to find out! This is book 2 in the Pelican Harbor series, and while it’s helpful to have read the first one before you read this one, it’s not critical. I highly recommend this series.

This is the second book in the Pelican Harbor series, and this book is every bit as good as the first book in the series, as well as Colleen Coble’s other books. The main character, Jane, is a police chief in a small town, and has recently found out her son born 15 years ago is not dead, like she was told. Trust issues are a main part of this book while she gets to know her son. The author does an outstanding job of describing the characters and the surroundings. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good Christian mystery. I would suggest you read the first book in the series to find out how the characters came together. I am enjoying this series by Colleen Coble to the fullest. I love Reid, Chief Jane, and Wills relationship. The way that Reid won't give up on Chief Jane makes your heart melt and the love she has developed for Will, is amazing. I also am a dog lover so you cannot forget about Parker's relationship with them as well. Chief Jane is an amazing woman and character. What she does to protect not only the ones she loves but will is immeasurable. This book in comparison to the first book I thought felt a little disjointed in some of the characters and their story lines. Victor, Tyler and Steve, I feel you didn't get enough of their backstories to truly connect all of them to the actual suspense plot. And calling it a "terrorist threat" made me feel like that part would be a lot bigger of a story. I also was a bit disappointed in what happened with Chief Jane's mother. Maybe we will get more of this in the next book but I feel like that part isn't finished for me. Overall, another great story. I love Colleen Coble's writing and I enjoy the romance, suspense, and aspects of God throughout. I also love that this takes place by the water as its the summer so I feel its a great summer read.

I hate to say it after I enjoyed the first one in this series ... this book was painful to finish. I didn’t like the characters this time around. They were strong and confident in book 1 and I found them to be weak and boring in this second book. The writing, especially the dialogue between the characters, felt choppy and incomplete. I had a hard time staying focused. It just didn’t grab me. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will continue this series.

Two Reasons to Run will keep you on the edge of your seat. You'll follow Jane and Reid find their way back to love as well as unraveling clues to murder and possibly terrorism attack. You'll follow the clues to solve this case.

Enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one in the series. I would picture the town and people in it. Made me think of places and people I know. For a book series that is being listed as a christian romance, it's not over so in your face.. I wouldn't even think of it as a christian romance..
Can't wait for the next book in this series....

The main characters were back and enjoy reading about them and seeing how their story unfolds. There were a couple inconsistencies in the book but I'm sure they will be fixed by the time the book is released. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I still recommend this series to others....

Not a bad procedural/romance but I was unaware that this was also classified as "Christian Romance" as well. It wasn't heavy handed, but several references to putting your faith in the Lord and attending church are included. In some ways, this reminded me of the Forgotten Coast series by Dawn Lee McKenna with similar settings along the Gulf Coast and a strong female detective. This is book two in a three book arc and ends on an unresolved note.

This is the second book in The Pelican Harbor Series – and it follows Police Chief, Jane and her newly found ex, Reid and son, Will she had thought to be dead for the last 15 years – to be honest; I hadn’t known that it was a continuing story – though it didn’t take me more than a couple of chapters to understand the back story of Jane, Reid and Will.

The mystery though is standalone within the book – a target of an oil rig, a missing man wo turns up murdered and her newly discovered son, a target! It was an intriguing mystery that had me turning over the pages again; and again – even though it did become a little predictable towards the end; it was a mystery that I really enjoyed and that is solved within this book!

But the major focus of the book had been on Jane, Reid and Will’s relationship with each other – now that the truth is in the open – they are slowly trying to get into the rhythm of the family they all want to be; even if it’s all new to them. But it isn’t just the relationship they should be concerned about – they have a history to sort through; feelings that both Reid and Jane have for each other; but their own issues and insecurities (and an ex who just can’t seem to stop creating problems.

While the mystery is handled within this book – it is the relationships and secrets plaguing Jane, Reid and Will that still need to be resolved and I am looking forward to the last book in the series!

Another winner by Colleen Coble. Very well written romantic suspense. An edge of you seat page turning plot. Loved the Mobile and Elberta, Alabama setting. Fans of romantic suspense will not be disappointed. I received an arc from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

I hate to say I am not loving this series. This is my 15th Colleen Coble book and it’s not living up to the usual amazing writing. I will continue to read her books because I love 98% of them.

Here’s what I liked:
Working through forgiveness and guilt is a big part of this story. I think it’s important to see that played out, and not just solved in a few sentences. Jane is a fierce and protective mother and Reid is a kind and loving father. They make the perfect team. Will is smart and kind and I love seeing his journey to becoming a man. The mystery is pretty good and so is the romance.

Here is what I didn’t like:
Jane was driving me crazy by the end. I don’t want to give spoilers but I was tired of her throwing blame and hate on everyone but herself. The cult aspect of the story was not a win for me. I also love Colleen Coble because she has always been reliable for a fun romantic mystery that I can enjoy and then move to my next read. This series is not normal and I’m wishing she would have done it in the same way she has written her other books.

Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble. Second book of the Pelican Harbor Trilogy. Not all the issues of Reid and Jane's relationship are overcome but will most likely be resolved in the next book. As a book in the Christian category, it does not come across as preachy but the faith of the characters is interwoven into the storyline as an natural part of their daily lives. A roller coast of a romantic suspense thriller with plenty of action and twists.

I normally don’t point out consistency issues in ARCS, knowing that the book is subject to more editing before publication, but I feel I need to with Two Reasons to Run, as there were enough of these issues that I kept being pulled out of the story. First, it is stated that Megan in 14. Only days later, there is talk of her driving, and then it is stated that she is 16. When a new character is introduced, she tells Reid she hasn’t seen him since he was one year old. But only a few pages later, it is said that she hadn’t seen him since he was five. There is a line where a statement about the congressman—I believe—is actually meant to refer to Victor. And it’s a very important sentence. In the scene where Jane, Reid and Will discuss whether he will go with them, or rafting, there are multiple inconsistencies.

Furthermore, though Jane is supposed to be a crack law enforcement professional, this is one of those novels where all of the characters, including the villain, make one idiotic decision after another. If your son’s life is in danger, would you let him bring a friend on a camping trip, putting her in danger, too? If your son’s life is in danger, would you let him go off alone on a raft trip with strangers? The whole book is filled with these sorts of decisions.

And yet, having read the first two books in this series, the bottom line is that I enjoyed them—not for the suspense—but because I really like the characters of Reid and Jane, and I am rooting for them. I enjoyed that in this book they spoke much more about their pasts, and their feelings, and l hope for even more of that in the conclusion of this trilogy. It’s a lovely relationship journey of hope and forgiveness, and I recommend the series for that reason. Btw, though this book would fall into the Christian category, it’s message is one of more or less universal truths, so does not come off preachy or false to those like me, who believe there are many paths to God.

That's why I love series books.

This author keeps the reader on his/her toes trying to keep up with the action and suspense.
I'm looking forward to the next.

This is book 2 of this series and I couldn’t wait to read more of Jane, Will and Reid.
This book has it all from page one to the last page
And I recommend reading them in order to fully get to know these people, their town and most importantly their history !
I can’t wait until book 3 !
