I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It grabbed my attention from the first page and kept me entertained till the last page. Quite a few plot twists and turns add in a fast moving plot and it was recipe for an enjoyable afternoon. I probably would have been better to read the first book in the series but I was still able to follow along with the back story and did feel left behind. It did end on a bit of a cliff hanger but this reader will be picking up the first and third book in the series.

This is my first book from this author and oh my she had me on the edge from the very first chapter. There is thrill and mystery until the end. I like Jane, Reid, Will and their friends. It’s interesting too that Jane is the town chief. She is unstoppable. She works hard to keep her family safe and at the same time solve the pressing issue. Jane and Reid have chemistry. I didn’t understand their past at first but everything came to light as the story unfolds.

I really enjoyed reading this book but there were just too many characters involved. Too many side events too that at first I thought was important to solve the issue. But I guess this is also a family drama and the second book in a series. I look forward to the next one.

An expert combination of suspense and romance, forming a clean and well-written story that will grab your attention from page 1 and hold it through to the end. My one warning is that while some series involve shared characters but are largely standalone stories, this is one with a back-story that follows through the entire series. In this case, the suspense part is tied up neatly at the end, but the romance/emotional side is left hanging to be completed in the third book - and I felt like I was missing some important emotional background because I haven't read the first book. As a result, I'd say that these three books are best read as a series, together and in order. I look forward to reading the third book when it becomes available!

Two Reasons to Run is an taut thriller involving domestic terrorism and end-time cults that held my interest throughout. The author does a credible job of employing the small-town setting to its best advantage. Unfortunately, the frequent references to events that occurred in the first book in the series (which I had not read) created gaps in the hero's and heroine's motivation in this story. I found it difficult to suspend disbelief as some events unfolded (how did the parents not suspect their son would sneak out for the all-important championship game?).

Two Reasons to Run is the second book in the Pelican Harbor series, and continues the story of Jane, Reid and Will. Jane is doing her best to protect a oil rig from terrorism as she tries to build a relationship with her son .I would recommend this book to others.

I read the first book in the Pelican Harbor Series, One Little Lie, and was literally shocked when the story ended. I was not prepared for the cliffhanger!

Suffice it to say, I was very excited for the second book!

SUMMARY
In Two Reasons to Run Police Chief Jane Hardy is still picking up the pieces from the scandal that rocked her small town, as well as her department. She’s finally been reunited with her son, Will, but things are rocky between her and Will’s dad, Reid.

When a citizen comes to Jane and and says her son has disappeared from his job on a drilling rig, Jane investigates. She’s surprised to see Reid on the platform as well.

Reid received information from the missing man that he suspected someone wants to blow up the rig. Reid offers to help Jane with her investigation since he may be able to get information she can’t get in his job as a TV documentor.

Someone doesn’t want Jane to investigate the threat to the rig, and they’ll stop at nothing to keep her occupied elsewhere. Even if it means taking her son.

If you want a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat on every page, Two Reasons to Run is the book you want to read. There are enough twists and turns that even I couldn’t guess the ending. (And that’s saying something, because I usually can!)

The mystery and adventure is great, and intriguing. But I also enjoyed getting to read more of the story of Jane and Reid. Their trip to try to find out more about their families was one of my favorite parts. I really liked where they were headed in their relationship, but that ending though…

I like that Colleen explores a lot of different relationships and struggles in her books. As a mom I can relate to Jane and her desire to be with Will and protect him. I can also understand her confusion (and let’s face it, animosity) towards Reid.

If you’ve read One Little Lie, you know that Jane has issues with her father. It’s a tough and interesting situation. I can’t wait to see how it develops more in the next book of the series, Three Missing Days.

The one problem with snatching up a book as soon as it comes out is the wait for the next installment! Three Missing Days won’t be released until next spring, and I’m not sure how I’ll wait.

The Pelican Harbor Series is so good. As a longtime fan of Colleen Coble, I think is one of her best series yet. I’m really excited to read the conclusion–but, man, I don’t want it to end!

Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble is book two in the series. Although each book has a story that will conclude you are drawn to keep reading to find out the story behind Jane, Reid, their son Will and her parents.

There is a rumor of a terrorist threat on an oil rig after one of the workers dies. Jane and Reid both try to investigate which leads to threats against their son.

Coble keeps the action flying with researching the threat to the town and marine life and the emotions high as we try to find Jane’s mother in this book. Even the reader is not sure who is lying and what the truth is.

First time read of this author - so I missed the first in this series. I will definitely be reading the first one.

Great character development - especially since I missed the first one. The author "caught me up" and continued to keep me turning the pages!! Good suspense, plot and ending.

Overall a great read and introduction to an author I will continue to read!

I did not read the first book in the series, while I feel like I missed something and plan on reading it next the author did catch a reader up to date in this book. I could not put the book down the author keeps you on the edge of your seat from page one, when you think you know who did it, the author those a twist and takes you down a whole other path. I loved Will he was a strong headed kid with a big heart. Jane has a broken spirit but when it comes to Will she will stop at nothing to protect him, even if that means setting aside her feelings for Reid. I did not like the end of the book because it leaves you hanging and I want to know what happens. Otherwise this book was amazing and is a clean read. Grab this book you will not regret it.

Great, original plot with holes big enough to drive a Mack truck through and it's a disjointed one too. Not to mention, the heroine is a whiny brat who everyone thinks is just fabulous. Everyone close to her has lied to her and she just can't get over any of it. And, she won't let you get over it either as she keeps bringing it up, again, and again, and again. I was all out of patience by the half way point.

Two Reasons to Run is the second book in Colleen Coble's Pelican Harbor series. I loved it even more than the first book. The simmering chemistry between Reid and Jane is heart-melting. Throw in their devotion to their son Will and you can't help but root for this reunited family. The author does an incredible job of creating romantic tension without sex scenes. All of the family drama is the backdrop to a truly interesting and suspenseful story. I can't believe I have to wait until April for the third book.

Jane and Reid, both of whom narrate this romantic suspense novel, are trying to rebuild trust and their relationship for the sake of their son Will. Jane's the police chief in Pelican Harbor, a Gulf Coast town, and she's struggling still to understand why her father lied to her abut Reid, what happened to her mother, and many other things but that has to take a back step to an investigation of a missing man than spins into terrorist threats- and a direct threat to Will. It's an interesting mix. The mystery/suspense is well done, as is the faith component. Thanks to Netgalley for there ARC. Don't worry if you didn't read the first book- Coble gives you the back story, which makes this fine as a standalone.

I think that the relationship between Jane and Reid is realistic since Jane has trust issues. There is plenty of action and suspense in this book. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next book in this series.

The story continues with Chief Jane and Reid and their son, Will. I was excited to dive back into the Pelican Harbor series and it did not disappoint. The story will make more sense if you read the first book, One Little Lie, but the background info is summarized fairly well, so I don't think it's absolutely necessary. However, One Little Lie was also an excellent read so I'd still recommend starting from the beginning of the series.

Jane is still reeling from all the lies her father told her. She continues to feel betrayed by her father and even Reid, the father of their son. As chief, she starts investigating the disappearance of a local on an oil rig and suspects foul play. Homeland Security won't listen to her, so she must continue to investigate on her own to stop a possible terrorist attack. Reid is willing to help her since the man who disappeared had also asked him to help. Together they move from clue to clue to figure out who's behind the threat all while trying to protect their son, Will, whose life has been threatened in an effort to get Jane to drop the investigation. Meanwhile, Jane and Reid go on a journey trying to find relatives, which brings up a lot of baggage from their pasts. Can these two continue to work together and protect their son while trying to prevent a terrorist attack?

I love Colleen Coble's stories. They just keep on getting better. I really like continuing with these main characters and how they need to deal with real life challenges. The situations they are in really do require the inner strength that only comes from faith. I also wasn't able to guess the ending, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this series, Three Missing Days.

I highly recommend this book and series if you enjoy contemporary Christian stories with romance, action, mystery and suspense.

Who Will Love This Book

If you love suspense novels, you’ll love book two in Coble’s latest series. The relatable heroine might deal with uncommon problems like terrorists and murderers, but she also deals with things like forgiveness and wrestling with doubts about God.

While Reid and Jane share a history from their early lives, they have a 15-year gap in their history full of unanswered questions and past mistakes. Fans of Cara Putman, Lynette Eason, and Rachel Dylan will enjoy this series.

You can still enjoy this book if you haven’t read the first one in the series but I would highly recommend that you do so first. If you do not you will miss a lot of the subtle nuances that make the story rock. Jane, Reid and Will are trying to put the pieces of their family together. Jane and Reid get caught up in a new case which puts them all in danger. The story is fast paced and filled with adrenaline as they try to stay one step ahead of a killer. It is also filled with a deep abiding faith that allows Reid to trust that things will turn out well. The story will conclude in the next book and I cannot wait to see if these three get the happy ending they deserve.

I really liked the first book, in Colleen Coble’s series Pelican Harbor. Two Reasons to Run is the second book and I loved it as much as the first one. I do recommend reading the first book in the series as the backstory is very important to know.
There is a focus on Christian beliefs which made the story even more appealing to me. If you do not like a book with religious aspects, I do not recommend this book to you.
I love all the characters so I can’t just pick out one or two. It is fun watching them grow and mature in their relationships from the first book.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I can’t wait to see where Jane and Reid’s relationship goes. I want to know more about the situation with Jane’s mother.
I enjoy Colleen Cobles writing, she never disappoints me and keeps my interest engaged in her story so much I can’t stop reading.
I do have to say, there were a few inconsistencies in the story that made me stop and wonder if these instances would be rectified before publishing.
Definitely recommend you read this series.

This book was just OK for me. It kept me wanting to know what was going on but that anxiety you get when reading a thriller just wasn't there. I did have a hard time in the beginning with some characters since this is #2 book of a series and I still haven't figured out how Jackson fits in. Jane was always calling him to help out & he would but he was never really in the picture and I don't know who he is. Also around the middle of the book the power of God and prayer was entered but not in a convincing way. The story was good, the plot was good but I just could not relate to any of the characters. 3 1/2 stars for me rounding to a 4.

Another slam dunk from Colleen (can she even write a BAD book? I don't think so!), again focusing on the Gulf Coast (now drying out from so much havoc from Hurricane Laura), with her 2nd book in the Jane Hardy, Pelican Harbor series (book 1 was One Little Lie). Once again, Jane has to face down opposition in town to her being Police Chief, and deal with a terrorist plot, as well and drama at home. While a bit far fetched (state agencies would have taken over the terrorist case from Jane LONG before she got close to solving it, IRL), they story line keeps a fast pace, which keeps the reader involved. With subtle Christian messages, this is a good 'end of Summer' read. before the chaos of Fall arrives
