Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions stated are my own.

This is another great book from Colleen Coble. I felt that is was a bit more confusing than some of her other books. It seemed like there were a lot of sub plots. But it all makes sense in the end. When the author visits another plot, she refreshes your memory of what it's all about. The characters are strong and believable. The romance is only hinted at and the language is clean. I like the way this author ends her novels by taking the time to explain how she comes to her conclusions. You don't feel that there is an abrupt end. This book does have a decent ending, but at the end it says it's to be concluded in "Three Buried Secrets". So it will be interesting to see what comes next.

Star read! I was gripped by this book all the way through. If you want to be taken on a whirlwind of mystery and crime then this book does it perfectly. Despite the plot, the writers addition of romance to the story makes this read an overall feel good. With each page a new twist and turn, you're going to feel all the emotions. Would highly recommend!

Jane and Reid are trying to move past their early cult experiences when a young man dies on an oil platform after sending word that he fears a terrorist attack on the platform. After their son Will is threatened, they must turn over every stone to save will and the workers.

Two Reasons to Run is the newest thriller by Colleen Coble and the second in the Pelican Harbor series. Each book in the series has its own mystery but each one has the same mystery that starts in the first book in the series and involves Jane Hardy's brief time when her family was part of a cult. If you have not read the first book in the series and wish to do so I would advise you stop reading this review now. There are things that happen in the first paragraph of this novel that would spoil the first book's story for you. I really do not think you would regret reading this first book in the series.

The book starts off with Jane in shock after learning that her newborn son did not die at the cult compound. He is alive and so is the father of her son who has raised him from a teenager. Jane is resentful that the father did not reveal who he was when he first came to town but Jane has to get over that resentment and distrust in order to save her son's life from a stalker. She will have to work together with the father of her son to keep her son alive. This book kept me in suspense and I can't wait until the third book Three Missing Days is released in 2021!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The second in the Pelican Harbor series proves to be as exciting as the first. I would recommend reading the first book to fully understand the characters. Terrorist threats surrounding an oil platform could be environmentally or personal as Chief Jane Hardy races against time to find the person behind the plot. Jane and Reid, still haunted by the past try to move forward to find answers. Twists and turns in this suspenseful mystery adds to the drama. Looking forward to the last book in the trilogy. Highly recommended!

Colleen Coble never disappoints me! I was so happy to return to Jane and Reid, and of course, now I'm waiting for the next book to see what happens with them. The suspense in this installment kept me reading after bedtime and then pondering for a while on "who did it" before falling asleep. First, Bree and now Jane -- these strong women make for great series!

Colleen Coble delivers another fascinating tale that continues Jane Hardy’s story. I was so pleased to get accepted to read this awesome book! She never disappoints with her stories and they’re worth a reread. I do that cause sometimes you might miss something the first go around.
Well rounded out characters and an awesome plot that I totally enjoyed!
This is definitely a can’t put down read and time will fly by before you know it.
Coble describes her scenes so well that at times I actually thought I was in the story with Jane Hardy and her family.
I was happy to see that God was a part of these characters lives as He should be.
I feel like this story is even more special because of a dog and a certain pelican.
This book deserves more than five stars!
I highly recommend this book and I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Two Reasons to Run, by Colleen Coble, continues the story of Police Chief Jane Hardy. In this latest tale, Jane not only has the opportunity to get to know her son, Will, but her life becomes very complicated, as she has to deal with a potential threat to an oil platform off the coast!

Reid Bechtol, the father of her son, is working on a documentary concerning the oil platform, so he gets thrown into the middle of the chaos. When their son's life is threatened by this terrorist, both Reid and Jane jump into action to protect their son!

A lot of details about Reid and Jane's former life will come to light on the pages of this book. You will wonder how these two will ever be able to overcome the hurts of the past!

I'm really enjoying this latest series with these characters and I look forward to another installment.

Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble is book two in the Pelican Harbor Novels. Book 1 left off with so many questions remaining and readers will absolutely adore book 2 and seeing familiar characters figure out the issues that began in book 1. And the suspenseful scenario in book 2 will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the book. I loved this book and can’t wait for book 3!

Jane Hardy is trying to figure out what is going on in her town. As a police officer, she has seen many things, but this is a mystery. An oil rigger is missing. Follow Jane to find out what’s happening. This book is part of a series. While it is a stand alone story, the facts about the characters would make more sense if I had read the previous book.

Colleen Coble has written another satisfying page-turner. I love her character, Jane Hardy. The woman has overcome so many obstacles but still moves forward with a heart for justice, even as problems mount up. On top of that, there's something evil going down at the oil platform in the Gulf. As the Police Chief, Jane must put others before herself and go down a rocky road to find the truth. I enjoyed the role her son, Will, and his father, Reid, played, and the thread of faith that runs through this suspense-filled story. If you haven't read Colleen's books, this a great series to start with. If you are a regular Coble fan, you won't be disappointed. Start with book one, One Little Lie. Watch for book three, Three Buried Secrets coming in the fall. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

** “God had gotten them this far.” **

Colleen Coble’s newest novel, “Two Reasons to Run,” picks up immediately after the first novel in her Pelican Harbor Series ends, with Police Chief Jane Hardy still reeling from the news she learned about her past.

When a man hints at sabotage and terrorism on the nearby oil platform in the Gulf, Jane must race to find out the truth. With the help of Reid Dixon, an investigative journalist who is also the father of her son Will, they must work together and rebuild their relationship all while searching out the truth about the potential terrorism.

“Two Reasons to Run” is a fast-paced romantic thriller that draws on murders, kidnappings, shootings, thefts, stalking and sabotage to drive the plot. Coble does an incredible job of weaving the storylines together to leave the reader in suspense — not only about the oil rig situation, but also in regards to both Jane’s and Reid’s pasts in a cult and their missing family members each is so desperate to find.

The author also does a great job of developing characters. Both Jane and Reid are flawed and relatable; her crusty father Charles is intriguing; their son Will is inspirational; and she even includes some great animal characters like Parker the dog and Pete the Pelican.

This story isn’t just a great thriller though. It’s filled with several amazing lessons, like God is still with us, even within the trials; how to face evil and even death with peace; sometimes we just need to focus on today and not worry about tomorrow; living in perpetual fear is no life; and the importance of trusting God.

Fans of authors like Carrie Stuart Parks, Lynette Eason and Terri Blackstock will enjoy this novel. I would not recommend reading it as a standalone, as much of its plot refers back to the series first story, “One Little Lie.”

“Two Reasons to Run” is due to be published on Sept. 8.

Five stars out of five.

Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble Reviewed August 4, 2020 3.4 stars
I am a big Colleen Coble fan. This is my 15th novel and the second in the Pelican Harbor series.
"One Little Lie" was the first in the Pelican Harbor series.
That story starts with Jane Hardy and her dad escaping from a cult, many years ago. Now both have a new
life in Pelican Harbor, in fact, Jane is the interim sheriff since her dad recently retired as sheriff.
As that title indicated there is one little lie hanging around and with the aid of an investigative report Jane
finds out that the lie really isn’t all that ‘little’. . Turns out the baby she and her dad left behind wasn’t
dead as believed.

This story continues with Jane and her son Will as well as Reid, Will’s dad and that guy Jane married 15 years ago who then had a heavy beard and looks entirely different now. Since this is a mystery we knew there was going to be a murder additionally an environmental terrorist plot.
I am sorry to say that Jane was soooo annoying in this story; I found myself shouting her and totally wanted to shake her.
True this story does have the typical Ms. Coble’s twists and turns that keeps me guessing and reading!
In I am a big fan there is no doubt I will read Pelican Harbor Book#3 "Three Missing Days"]

In this eagerly awaited second book in the series, readers will continue to discover more about Jane Hardy. This series by Mrs. Coble is easily one of my favorites. Now, I am anxiously awaiting the third book in this series. The suspense continues in this book just as the first book as readers see there is something occurring in Jane Hardy’s town. With murder suspected aboard an oil platform, there are major implications that something huge is going to occur. As Jane works to discover what is going on, she also is working on building a relationship with her son, Will. Reid, Will’s father, is interested in pursuing a relationship with her, but Jane is still upset due to their past circumstances. When the enemy threatens those Jane loves, Jane will stop at nothing to protect and discover who is behind everything that is occurring. Readers, be prepared to not stop reading until you finish this one! The book has several surprises and readers will get glimpses into additional information regarding both Reid and Jane’s families. I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.

"Two Reasons to Run" is about Jane Hardy, a police officer who is trying to solve the case of a missing oil rig worker. Before his disappearance, the worker emailed with evidence that a conspiracy was taking place aboard the oil rig. Since I didn't know this book is part of a series, I didn't understand the relationship between Jane, her son, and her former boyfriend. I felt that this book was well-written, but the case was wrapped up too quickly and was a little unbelievable.

Another Colleen Coble great read!

This book has action, suspense, and danger. All of those things are mixed in with characters trying to both ask for and give forgiveness. Jane is learning the ropes as a mother and how to co-parent while trying to keep up on the demands of her job.

Reid is waiting for forgiveness and understanding in what he believes was the best path for him to take.

They both are struggling with the resurfacing of feelings and trying to deal with the new twists that have come up in their lives

Colleen is a master storyteller and I finished this book quickly because it roped me in from the start!

This was the second book in the Pelican Harbor series and I can't wait for the third!

Didn't quite deliver:
I have read most of this author's books but unfortunately am not finding this series as captivating or fulfilling as I have come to expect. For some reason it didn't grab my attention and whilst I wanted to find out what was going to happen, I didn't feel the suspense was strong enough.
It carries on from book 1 and I would recommend reading them within a fairly short amount of time from one another in order to recall everything that has previously transpired. Ideally I would have liked the author to have given more of a recap early on to aid our memories.
Jane has recently discovered that she has a 15 year old son and while she is enjoying getting to know him, she is furious with his father for not revealing their identities sooner. With a missing oil rig worker and potential sabotage threat, Jane and Reid end up having to work together in order to stop the perpetrators in time. I was disappointed that I didn't feel a closer connection to either of the main characters. I found Jane's refusal to forgive and move beyond the fact that Reid had withheld information tedious and frustrating. Their is a light Christian message of learning to put our trust in God.
This ends with a happy for now and personally I wish that it had of concluded with this one, however as I want to find out what happens I shall be looking out for the final book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
