I love Florida and I loved this story. Set in a truly beautiful part of the world it was descriptive enough to keep me thinking of the location and the story kept me enthralled to the end. It follows a widows need to get a story started by her husband finished but little does she know its not fiction. Fabulous read, highly recommend.

A grieving widow and a disenchanted writer form an unexpected bond in a novel about second chances and finding the courage to let go of the past.

It’s been three years since Claire Kite lost her husband, David, an aspiring novelist, in a tragic car accident. Claire finally finds the courage to move on; then she discovers among the remnants of her shattered world her husband’s last manuscript. It’s intimate, stirring—and unfinished. An idea comes to her…What if she can find someone to give David’s novel the ending it deserves?

Whitaker Grant is famous for his one and only bestselling novel—a masterpiece that became a hit film. But after being crippled by the pressure of success and his failed marriage, Whitaker retreated from the public eye in his native St. Petersburg, Florida. Years later, he’s struggling through a deep midlife crisis. Until he receives an intriguing request from a lonely widow. To honor David’s story, Whitaker must understand, heart and soul, the man who wrote it and the woman he left behind.

There’s more to the novel than anyone dreamed. Something personal. Something true. Maybe, in bringing a chapter of David’s life to a close, Claire and Whitaker can find hope for a new beginning.

I absolutely LOVE Boo Walker's books. He writes as one paints. I would remmond his book to everyone. Never miss a chance to feel hope, love and become part of a greater life.

What an interesting story. Boo Walker, the author, is on to a good thing. Claire is the heroine of the story. Her husband has died and she is trying to pull herself together enough to empty her/their house so it can be sold. She is almost done- except for David’s office. Claire is in for surprise that changes her life. The characters are well developed and believable. The storyline kept me reading. The reason I gave it four stars is that at times the story drug just a little. I would read another book from this author. Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union for allowing me to read an advance copy for my honest review.

Another heartwarming second chance romance novel. The Unfinished story started off with Claire, a widow who’s trying to move on for three years after sudden death of her husband. Claire wants to keep the memory of her late husband by trying to publish his “unfinished story” about how Clair and David would live. Enter published author Whitaker. The story kicks off after this rendezvous between Clair and Whitaker! The author captures how a happily married person would feel after their loved one has passed away and hesitation in second love. Wonderful story, bit dragged around Whitaker’s background. Simple story, full of feelings. Looking forward for more books by Boo Walker.
Thank you NetGalley, the author Boo Walker and Lake Union Publishing for a reader’s copy of this novel. The opinions are my own and not influenced.

A good book, a little slow to really start, but the second half more than made up for that. I think it will be very popular in our library.

A touching story of grief and friendship as Claire finds an unexpected surprise three years after her husband was suddenly killed.
She wants to honor her late husband. He was her best friend.
The only way Claire feels she can do this, is to have author Whitaker Grant assist and finish up David's very last words in his notebooks. It has to be Mr. Grant.
However, this is a definite challenge for Whitaker on an emotional level.
He must work through his own personal struggles to help Claire with her request.
The writing is smooth and though a bit slow at times, it is a wonderful quick read that takes place in Florida.

I very much enjoyed this story and made a welcome change from the usual genres that i read. Loved the characters and loved how the story ended. It is the first time that i have read a book by Boo Walker and am sure it will not be the last. Recommended.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review which i have voluntarily given.

I enjoyed this story. The characters Claire and Whitaker will get under your skin and you will not be able to put the book down until you know more of the story.

While the book is about an unfinished story that Claire husband was writing when he die, it highlights foster care system and how one person can make a difference in a child’s life.

Claire’s husband was killed 3 yrs ago by a drunk driver. Claire is finally selling their home in an effort to try to find a way to move on. She has one room left to clean out and it is David’s office. This is where she finds the unfinished story. Claire feels like she must get this book finished and published.

Whitaker is a highly successful author of one book and a movie made from that book. It has been 10 long years and he struggles to get words on a page. His ex-wife tried to be supportive and encouraging but Whitaker was consumed with writing the next block buster. Eventually she left him and now he is alone, working at a bank and struggling to get 500 words on the page.

Clair knew Whitaker from years ago when he would write in her restaurant. She is determined to get Whitaker to finish the story. She is surprised to see the state Whitaker is in but still she needs him to finish the book.

Will Clair succeed in getting Whitaker to complete the story? Can they find a way through the pain to consider a friendship or something more? What is the story based on? Could Orlando be a real child and not just a character in a story?

I absolutely adored this book. The characters were so real that it sucked you in and made you feel a part of the story. You didn't want it to end!

What a wonderfully written novel. I loved the descriptive writing with this author’s writing! Pull up your favorite chair with a comfy blanket and read a novel full of humor, love, and a great read. It kept me reading late into the late hours just so I could find out how it ended. It was interesting to see how this woman’s love for her deceased husband’s unfinished novel helped her find love again for a new man in her life and someone she had longed to love as a mother. Great read!

This was probably one of the best stories that I almost didn't finish.

'An Unfinished Story' is the tale of two books. In the first half of the book, the story was told and told some more. The narrative was dry and repetitive. The characters, Claire and Whitaker, never seemed to go anywhere except 'round in circles about whether or not he would finish the book. I put the book down a couple of times, on the verge of a DNF. However, once Whitaker had made a significant discovery, my interest in the story was reawakened.

With Claire and Whitaker seeking to unravel David's secret, the second half of the book was much more engaging: more dialog, more action, better pacing. I was so grateful that I stayed the course, because it was then that I fell in love with this book. It is a beautiful, uplifting, heart-rendering story. It took a while for me to warm up to it, but It was well worth it in the end. Recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and Boo Walker for an ARC of 'An Unfinished Story' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Sometimes the right book comes along at just the right time. I had just finished a VERY intense book, and was ready for something lighter - this was that book for me. I connected with the setting of Florida, the theme of infertility and adoption, second chances, and was just ready for a book that had likable characters. Was it predictable? Heck yes. But I breezed through it in two days, and it left me feeling satisfied.
