This was another killer read by someone that is becoming one of my favorite authors. I don't have a lot of time to read these days, but I will make more time for Mr Fowler's books in future. Recommended.

Review for 'Hunter' by Michael Fowler

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Sapere Books

This is the first book that I have read by this author. This book is the prequel to the 'DS Hunter Kerr' series so can be read as a standalone or before reading the series. I am looking forward to reading more of his books.

I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing cover and blurb. I must admit I also chose it as my son's name is Hunter 😂. I'm glad I did as it is a fantastic read and the blurb and cover work well with it.

This novel consists of 26 chapters which are relatively short in length so perfect for 'just one more chapter', like that ever happens for me, more like 3 or 4 more!!

'Hunter' is set in England which is always a bonus for me. I'm from Wales but visit England regularly on trips and holidays so have visited quite a few areas. This helps me picture places if they are mentioned in books and I have visited them.

The first chapter made me laugh. Roger is fab character and funny. Great to see some humour in a crime book as I feel its always good to lighten it up a bit and have a few laughs sometimes too.

Nice to read a crime book where the main character is on his probationary period, plus the fact that he is only 19 years old makes it quite unique.

A fantastic well written plot and storyline that engaged me from the start. Excellent descriptions put me right in the storyline.

Filled with suspense, drama, action, crime, murder and mystery 'Hunter' is a gripping page turner.

Love the well developed characters, all were strong and believable. I am looking forward to reading more about them in the rest of the 'DS Hunter Kerr' series.

I would recommend this book to fans of crime, murder, mystery, detective books, suspense, thrillers and anyone looking for a great read.

220 pages

Free on Kindle Unlimited or £2.99 to purchase. I think this is a bargain for this book.

Rated 5/5 (I loved it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

If you haven't read any the series featuring DS Hunter Kerr, this prequel should be your first stop. If you have read any/all of the series, you will enjoy this prequel of Hunter right out of police training as a young man.

This is a wonderful mix of crime solving ... police procedural .... humor ... and looking at a new world full of the awful things that human beings do to one another through the eyes of a 20-something young man. Why did he choose this career out of everything he could have?

It's 1991, Hunter is a brand new rookie, and under the guidance of a seasoned veteran on the force.

There are several cases that involve Hunter shedding light on what he wants to be/do in the future ..... he doesn't mind standing at doors, making sure everyone signs in to a crime scene...he doesn't mind taking the ribbing he gets at his official welcome by other detectives ... he wants to be out there catching the really bad guys.

His first big case involves a serial killer and he is anything but prepared for what he's facing.

This is a well crafted crime fiction filled with memorable characters. I like the mix of hunter's professional and personal lives. It's always entertaining to look at the very beginning and then watch how the character grows into his role as a career officer of the law.

Per the author, many elements of Hunter are true based on his own experiences in law enforcement, and this brings a great deal of credibility to the table.

Many thanks to the author / Sapere Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
