Nalini Singh has risen to the top of shifter romance for a reason. Her Psy-Changling series always hits.

When Selenka, alpha of Russia's powerful wolf pack first meets Ethan Night, Psy - Arrow - Empath-telekenetic, the first thing she notices about him is that he doesn't smell cold and metallic, like most Psy. Instead he smells like 'a crisp winter wind around a flame so hot it was blue'. Then Ethan saves her from a psychic attack and she saves his life in return and suddenly there's an unusual alliance formed between a changeling and a Psy - and so begins another compelling read in the spinoff Psy-Changeling Trinity series. It's got all the hallmarks of previous books but continues the pulse pounding plot of those trying to destroy the unified alliance of humans, psy and changelings. I loved exploring more about the Arrows, and seeing Ethan find a worthy mate (and vice versa for Selenka). Plus it's always fun to see Valentin's bears, Selenka's neighbours. It's so interesting to see how the author continually expands the characters, ideas and plot. Looking forward to more!

Nalini Singh always delivers for me so it was no surprise that this book was a delight to me, and inspired me to go back and reread the whole Psy-Changelings series! Something that she does so uniquely well is combining beautifully wrought world-building with well-rounded characters that you instantly fall in love with! Selenka and Ethan were characters I think could be hard to relate to in less capable hands but Singh peels back the layers of them through their struggles so you can see how they make sense for each other. This was definitely the escape the doctor ordered!

Every book I have read by Nalini Singh is amazing and this book is no exception. She is such a way with creating plot characters and scenes I just can’t get enough. Any book she writes is an instant purchase and recommendation from me.

Some of the most enjoyable books in this series have been then ones where a long introduced hero finally gets their HEA. And then there are books like ALPHA NIGHT where a brand new hero is introduced and you find yourself falling in love with him right alongside the heroine. I'm talking that swept off your feet feeling of new love, and this book more than delivered with Ethan. It's definitely an insta-love situation, and yet it just... works... perfectly in this book. Many times insta-loves induce just a bit of eye-rolling, but there wasn't even one hint of that here. Trust me, even if you're not a fan of insta-love, you'll fall in love right alongside this pair without a hesitation.

One of my favorite things about this series is that each and every single book is a true experience. There's many enjoyable paranormal romance series out there, but so few feel like an actual experience while reading them. The characters and world are so rich, and the books so easy to become immersed in, and ALPHA NIGHT was no exception. Fans of the series will be more than pleased with this addition to this fantastic world and series.

If you've been around my blog for a bit then you'll know that I love Nalini Singh! So I was so lucky to get approved for this novel! I'm sure I'll never be approved again because this review is so late but life happens and I sure wasn't expecting my father to pass away.

This follows the story of Selenka and Ethan and takes place over a short amount of time. I'm no fan of insta-love at all so I'm on the fence about this one. It's very insta-love but it's also one of my favorite authors. So while I did enjoy this novel a lot, it's not my favorite in the series.

Will go live 4/7/2020

It starts off slow and kind of dense, but once the action begins, it's hard to resist the story as it drives forward. It reads as a true epic, one that makes you feel the world really has been reshaped as you read it. Would recommend.

Is it possible to not love a Nalini Singh book? I think not. One of my favorites since the earliest Psy stories.

Alpha Night is the latest Psy Trinity novel. This is a book between an Arrow and Alpha Chageling Selenka from Blackedge Wolves pack.

For the first time, we read about mating at First Sight and holy moly. This book was so so good. Probably my favorite. Maybe because this is the first one I read after listening to the first three in the series. But there is something about reading about Arrows and Psy falling in love with Changelings that hooks me in.

The book spans across pretty few days but it doesn't feel that way. The bond between Ethan and Selena is just so heartwarming, protective and so full of devotion. I fell in love with Ethan Night. Another one of my favorite Arrows added to a long list. I loved that we come across so many characters from the original series.

There were two conflicts in the story. One overarching conflict that is slowing brewing in the background. And another is the pack conflict. I wasn't that impressed with the pack conflict, but it didn't bother me too. Overall, I had a lot of fun reading it.

Chemistry and romance was on point here. The sparks flew, the heat was burning and the Arrow manual for pleasing their partners was ever present.

Loved it. Highly recommend it...!!

I love Singh’s Psy-Changeling series and this entry was a fun view into the world of Russia’s wolf packs and the integration of an Arrow in to a paco based on a mating at first sight. An interesting premise and a sexy couple!

I love this series by Nalini Singh and look forward to each new book. Singh did not disappoint with this addition, either. The characters were well developed as usuall and the plot never had a dull moment.

Does anyone else feel like they have been waiting for this book for a while? Selenka Durov, the Alpha of the Russian BlackEdge pack has been a vague presence in this series almost from the very beginning. The BlackEdge pack is the biggest and most powerful wolf Changeling pack in the world and we are finally getting to see them. In Alpha Night Selenka and damaged Arrow Ethan Night are thrown together as a conference they are both attending gets attacked. Then, something unique happens. Mating at first sight.

Nalini Singh has many talents, and one of those is writing alpha females and Selenka is THE Alpha. I loved how uncompromising and openly alpha she was. She loved and protected her pack and they adored her for it. Ethan Night is part of the Arrows…yet separate. He doesn’t trust anyone, including the Arrow squad who saved him. He was an intriguing character, like a lot of Singh’s heroes, especially her Psy heroes, he was fundamentally broken by his treatment under the sadistic Silence regime.

I am not spoiling this book by saying they had a mated at first sight connection, it states this in the official blurb. It’s interesting as this is a trope that Singh hasn’t ever really used. One of the aspects of the Psy-Changeling series I have always liked is that the fated mates concept isn’t infallible, it’s a choice that, usually, the female has to make to accept the claim. But, of course, although in Alpha Night there is an instant matedom, it isn’t quite insta-love, the mating is presented as a complication in the formation of their relationship. However, there were times it did skirt a little too close insta-love; Ethan felt like a baby duck who had imprinted on to Selenka.

What this series, and this book does well, which you don’t always see in other shifter romances, is show how the pack dynamics work and the interactions between the pack. Rather than a book telling you how important pack and being Alpha is, this book really shows you how entwined Selenka, as Alpha is to the pack and how the pack is fundamental to her. As well as being one of the forces working on the romance between Ethan and Selenka, it further detailed the world that Singh has been constructing since Slave to Sensation. It’s why picking up these books is liking coming home, we know the world intimately and it keeps on building up.

Another great book in the series, the romance was adorable and having a strong female as the Alpha was refreshing and added an interesting dynamic that I’d love to see in more romances.

Nalini Singh has done it once again, delivering a wonderful romance while continuing to build, explore, and expand this complex world she created so many books ago. Unlocking new secrets, teasing at new twists, always keeping the reader guessing and focused. Frankly there is no other romance series out there that does this, and so well, especially over this many books. She pulled me deep into this world from book 1 and I continue to love it to this day. I don't see that changing any time.

Ethan and Selenka were wonderful together, a truly perfect match. I loved that Singh played a bit on twisting the "typical" gender roles for these two. Selenka is the kickass Alpha of her pack while Ethan is...not submissive but takes on a bit more of a "I'm just here to be what my mate needs, not play dominance games with her". Of course as we find out in the final chapters what his abilities truly are, it makes even more sense, but I won't spoil it for anyone. ;)

And can I say how damn hot I found Selenka's tendency to randomly reach out and grab his neck or thread her fingers through his hair and bring him in for a kiss? Words cannot describe this power move and its impact on me. Damn.

I'm only sad that I now have to wait for the next book! May this series/world never end.

My heart is so happy…

The minute I open a new book in this series my heart just hums, knowing I’m returning to this world that feels so wonderfully real. Real because of the very personal, human spin within the danger and intrigue of this volatile world. The unique characters and their differing paths to love are delivered with high drama, and love, family friendship. Each read adds new connections, nuanced layers and, like Selenka and Ethan’s courtship, one more piece to this mesmerizing puzzle…

This spin on ‘love at first sight’ was crazy good! Selenka, an uber-powerful wolf alpha, was a leader of her pack. She took care of each individual’s safety and emotional well-being. She did that with intelligence, balanced power and an unmatched ferocity. She defines the term ‘girl power’ yet with a velvet glove…. Ethan was a dominant in many ways but very much a loner. His past was horrific and how he was functional at all amazed me. From the moment of discovery, the heat, the depths of emotion, the gentleness – it was all there for me to absorb and revel in. The unwavering support for each other, the bond where love quickly followed – and all of it within the continuing, dangerous, power struggle within the Trinity. Yeah, you want this book. Now!

And the struggle hasn’t ended. With a tantalizing tidbit of what is to come I’m again in (not so patient) book yearning mode…

This book was a bit difficult for me. I will always read anything by Nalini Singh no questions, no doubt. But Alpha Night certainly had a rough start. The story took a bit to find its legs in my opinion. I was a little unsure about what direction the story and the conflict would take. I think it's because there is such an abrupt beginning that is mirrored in the mating-at-first-sight that happens between Ethan and Selenka.

Once I pushed through the beginning and once I could see where the story was going I was much more invested.

I think it's unavoidable really that some of the books will start to take a little time to catch my attention. With such a big cast of characters, I feel like there's only so many new and different storylines to go through before certain aspects may have to be recycled, or reworked into a story. I miss the early on aspects of the Psy-Changeling series as a whole. Getting to know the secondary characters to the point that when their books finally arrive there's an excited buzz about them already. This is the first book in a while where I don't really recall the main couple (Selenka and Ethan) from previous although Nalini Signh has a great way of weaving characters in and out of each story (a la Sascha and Lucas) so it's possible I just missed them, but regardless they didn't carry that spark and recognition that excites me when a character I've seen in the background finally moves to the front.

Overall, you can never go wrong with Nalini Signh. Ever. She's written two consistently great and engaging series and created such detailed worlds.

This time around I think this book was almost a bridge book kind of leading into some bigger developments for the next. But trust that I'll be there for it all guaranteed.

Russian Alpha wolf Selenka Durev’s city is hosting a conference of empaths; they are those most vulnerable among the Psy conversely being their hope for survival. All those empaths in one place are a temptation for the Consortium to act; they endeavor to rule the world by any means available including death and destruction.

A man emblematic of a lone wolf, Arrow Ethan Night, is assigned as security except he has a hidden agenda and is barely surviving the fall of Silence. Ethan’s world takes a seismic shift when he literally barrels straight into Selenka, saving her life during an attack while at the same time gripped by Selenka’s mating bond. The two are instantly locked into a relationship unusual even in the Changeling world.

I was so excited that we were back in Russia. Close to the bears is where I like to be! We are focused on the wolves, but we do get glimpses! Valentin is so much fun and his sloth of bears are always getting into trouble, which is a reason Selenka tries to keep her wolves away from them. But despite the bit of rivalry they put on, I think they are really good friends.

Selenka is a very strong alpha leader of her pack. I was surprised by how quickly her wolf picked Ethan Night as her mate. He seemed so sneaky. As an Arrow, I expected him to be completely devoted to his team and protecting the E's. But he had a bit of a hidden agenda at first that kind of soured my impression of him. Ethan believes he has a condition that will drive him to kill and has made Aiden swear to kill him before he totally loses it. It kind of reminded me of rogue wolves. I don't think that was a good enough reason for him to align with the Contractor.

With Ethan's protection of the E's at their symposium, where he was actually supposed to be doing something entirely different, he puts a snag in the Contractor's plans. It is making this person reevaluate the path they are taking and probably putting together a plan B. I shouldn't have been as surprised as I was by the Contractor. We definitely learn a lot about this person's goals and the plans that will affect everyone.

I enjoyed the romantic relationship between Selenka and Ethan. I felt like they both lowered walls to be able to come together. Selenka is still pretty bossy, but Ethan is very accepting that in their relationship, he is never going to be the alpha. He wants to support his queen.

I loved Alpha Night with it's conspiracy, romance and daily trials Selenka must deal with with her wolves. I can't wait to see what our next Psy-Changeling Trinity is going to hold for us!

Oh man, Ethan Night tried hard to knock Judd Lauren (Caressed by Ice) out of my #1 place for favorite character. But never fear Judd you are still my favorite, but it was so close.
Alpha Night tells us the story of Russian Wolf Alpha Selenka Durev and Arrow Ethan Night. I loved Selenka and Ethan together (and for those who complain about instant love..... TOUGH!!!). Both Selenka and Ethan could have never imagined what the future would hold for them from just one meeting. From that one meeting they both learn to trust and rely on each other.
We also get a more insight to the ongoing threats that have been plaguing the world since the end of Silence.
This was a great story and I loved listening to this audiobook. Angela Dawe is amazing!! I am in total awe of her talent for being a narrator. Her ability for so many voices is just WOW!! If you are looking to try an audiobook this series is a perfect one to start on. Nalini writes epic stories and Angela brings those characters to life!! I am excited about the next installment in this series.

Another strong entry in this series - I read the ARC twice before my purchased copy came in the mail. Definitely recommending this book for purchase/to patrons

Instalove is a huge turn off for me. I slam it in just about every book I encounter. But I can accept it a bit more with a mating scenario in PNR than I can anywhere else. This book features a mating at first sight, which even in the confines of the world building is rare, and while the love isn't instant--let's be real--it only takes a few days to build.

The super-fast love aside, the instant mating thing actually worked for me. Something in Selenka's wolf recognizes Ethan as its mate and doesn't hesitate to grab on and refuse to let go. Ethan is a damaged Arrow (aren't they all?) and in a refreshing twist, doesn't shy away. Unlike, say, Judd, he was never conditioned to feel pain in contact or emotion. He's been empty and grayed out his entire life and with Selenka, glories in someone claiming him.

I flat out loved the way he was hers from the get-go. He never hesitated or prevaricated. He was knight to her queen--her weapon and shield and I was there for it. At the same time, it was awesome to see an Alpha heroine who wasn't a bitch. She never apologized for her strength, but she used it to take care of her pack. Nalini Singh painted her with nuance and I believed she'd shred anyone who hurt her man.

Though some people will always want books set among the original characters, I like the characters introduced with Silver Silence. The bears are a huge hit with me and though this is a wolf book, I'd be content for more stories set in this area. We still get lots of familiar faces visiting, and frankly, I applaud how Singh is keeping the series fresh.

Overall, I really liked this book. Singh is a great writer and this world is so well drawn, it's as familiar as an old friend. The couple was great and despite the speed, I felt their devotion and commitment 100%. The sex was good too.

(My only small niggle was that I had a little trouble connecting all the dots with the Scarab storyline, but I got there eventually.)
