Fearless Menopause by Dr. Barbara DePree is an empowering, no-nonsense guide to navigating one of life’s biggest transitions. With compassion and clarity, Dr. DePree covers everything from hot flashes and hormone therapy to mental health and sexual wellness.
What makes this book stand out is its balance of medical insight and genuine empathy. It’s informative without being overwhelming, and validating without sugarcoating the challenges.
Whether you're approaching menopause or well into it, this book is a reassuring companion that helps you make confident, informed choices about your health.
Highly recommended for women 40+ and anyone looking to better understand this stage of life. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

This book comforted me... and terrified me... and frustrated me.
I am a pre-menopausal cis-woman in my mid 40s, so I picked this book up because I was curious about what the near future may hold for me. The author was very open and affirming, which I appreciated, and she discussed available research and possible treatments for specific issues. (That being said, I had no *idea* some of those symptoms were part of menopause, and I've pretty much decided I don't want to do that after all!)
My frustration with this book was how much of the specific information is unknown. For example (I'm paraphrasing), "Women in menopause often have problems sleeping. That could be because of hormones. It could also be because they have other stressors that make them anxious. Or maybe just bad sleep habits. We don't really know. More research needs to be done." [Repeat with multiple issues.] It's absolutely not the author's fault that there is still so much that is unknown about this stage, but I was hoping to find answers, and instead I found more questions. I do think that I'm more prepared for the future after reading this book, though, and I'm appreciative of this author and publisher. They allowed me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you. #NetGalley #FearlessMenopause
