By Blood and Magic is a captivating fantasy that effortlessly weaves intricate magical elements with a gripping plot. Waters skillfully crafts a richly detailed world where characters are bound by bloodlines and entangled in a web of magic. Although the pacing falters a bit, the book offers a thrilling journey into a realm where blood holds both power and secrets.

this was a lot of fun to read, the characters were great and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and their world. I look forward to more from this universe.

when it got this I did not realize that it was book two. I decided to read it anyway, I loved Sabine and Malek so much that I had to go and find out how they met. Sure it was your typical high fantasy romance (Can I just say how much I love that these have become a thing) but it was funny and well written. I cannot wait for book 3 to see where this romance goes (Cause they have to end up with each other, that is the only ending I will accept)

This is the second book in the Dragon Portal series and this book continues the quest to find the artifacts that will close the dragon portal and prevent war. This book has very well developed characters and world building and it also has some very interesting applications of magic I have not seen in other series. I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I received this book from NetGalley and Hidden Realms Publishing for an honest review.

In this book we continue the quest to find the artifacts that will close the dragon portal and prevent war in the land. This story begins with the destination in the dwarven lands but the ship becomes under siege by mermaids, whom captured the crew. To rescue them, they must find the woman that was taken.
What is great about this book is the growth of the characters. Individual and also the relationship between the main characters.
My favorite part of the book was the magic system. At one point as oasis is made by connecting to faerie magic and pulling the water from the earth. Another cool part is how faerie magic has been used to make tree turn into a type of elevator.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Hidden Realms Publishing for giving me an early copy to review. It was great and I would recommend it to anyone that loves fantasy.

This is the second book in the series and I would recommend reading the first book to fully appreciate this one .

Sabine , Malek and Pixie Blossom have set out on a quest to find more artefacts to close the Portal . However their ship is attacked by Merfolk - but the only way to save the crew swept overboard is to complete a task to finding a missing Mer person .
Their adventures take them to new and potentially strange lands and peoples , who have their own practices and agendas .
To survive all that is thrown at them Sabine must combine her powers with those of Malek ( a Fae Dragon ) - their growing romantic feelings for each other tested many times . Blossom certainly plays a greater part in this book with unpredictable but enjoyable results .
This was an enjoyable , fast paced fantasy with unique characters which will keep the reader enthralled .
I look forward to the next book in the series - much is still to be resolved

I was given an arc of the book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange fot an honest review

Loved it! Super action-packed. Couldn't put it down. My favorite character was Blossom. My favorite part of the book is that every character had a part to play in solving problems. Some would say with a dragon by your side its an easy win. But I love how Jamie A. Waters wrote it so that having a dragon by your side sometimes put you in more danger. Brute strength and fire don't always a solution make.

I received the first book in this series from Netgalley as well as this one. I loved this one like I loved the 1st. It is action packed and the relationships are strong. It built on the first without spending too much time recapping what happened before. Time is spent explaining her relationships with other characters and I liked the way it was done. There is some romance but not a lot. It was part of the story and seemed natural. When is the next??

Yes!!!!!! I've been waiting for this book ever since I read the last sentence in the first one. Gosh...it was SOOOOO worth the wait. Just know in advance that this is NOT a standalone to a series. You'll need to pick up the first one for this to make sense.

Book two picks up right where book one left off, on a boat sailing to collect more artifacts to close the portal. But plans take a detour when the ship is attacked by the sea. Yep, you heard me, the sea. Ok, more like the creatures of the sea, but still, you get the idea. In order to make it to land and save members of the crew and her family, Sabine has no choice but to make a deal with the Merfolk. The deal sends them on an adventure through unknown territory that causes more headache than not. But they meet new people and find more answers along the way. And boy oh boy are the adventures amazing!

If you fell in love with the potential story between Sabine and Malek in the first book, then you'll be very happy with this one. As their connection deepens, so does the magic within both of them. The things these two experience together is more than an experience, it's life changing.

If you're looking for old characters to keep you entertained, don't. The only returning characters that have a "solid" roll are Sabine, Malek and Blossom. Although the other characters make an appearance, you'll most likely have to wait until the next book to see more of their stories. But let's talk about Blossom for a second. I'm absolutely in love with this pixie!!!!!! And I'm so happy she finally got her wish :)

I was captivated by this book as soon as I started reading it. Sabine is different than the others of her kind, and is willing to help others that are not her kind. I think that is why others like her. She has managed to form some strange alliances in this book and the first book. I love the fact that even though in the past, Fae and dragons were enemies,
Sabine has managed to fall in love with one. Even though Sabine and Malek have not said it, I think those two have fallen in love with each other. I Have loved Blossom from the first time she was introduced in To Kill a Fae. She is even more fun in this book. It seems like the more I reed, the more friends and allies Sabine is making. I am excited to see who and what Sabine makes friends within the next book in this series.

I loved being back with Sabine and Malek and of course the amazing Pixie Blossom ! This started so strongly with an epic battle at sea involving Merpeople and it only continues to delight as the couple go on a quest hoping to save their captured friends . Along the way they encounter tribes that are anything but friendly on their journey towards a settlement that has nasty plans for magic users. Getting out alive is going to be a tricky thing but with a deal struck with the Merpeople not to mention a Goddess to appease the couple are still to face their hardest challenge yet. With their time sensitive task our favourite Fae Sabine and her Dragon ally Malek face constant danger but never fear because there's still time for romance !
This started with a bang and was unpredictable so I can definitely say it was very entertaining and full of surprises. A lot less from the Demons compared to the first book but Blossom more than made up for that, plus who doesn't want to read about Mermaids ?
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

By Blood and Magic by Jamie A. Waters, a well written and intriguing book. The second in the series and is a good follow up though I do recommend rereading the first one to not be lost.

I received a free copy of BY BLOOD AND MAGIC (Book 2 of the Dragon Portal Series) by Jamie A. Waters in exchange for an honest review. Sabine and her friends have barely managed to escape Akros on the dragon’s ship when they come under attack by the merfolk. Those aboard have magic stemming from earth and fire, which leave them without resources to fight off those whose power feeds off the ocean. Sabine manages to stall the fighting with a parley; in order to win the freedom of those lost during the attack, Sabine must find and return one of the merfolk who disappeared into hostile and desert lands. The quest to obtain the artifacts needed for the portal must be delayed to rescue friends and enemies.

I liked the story. This book contains some discussion of lusty feelings leading up to and following a sex scene; adequate warning of the actual sex is given if you prefer to skip that text. I recommend this book to fans of fantasy featuring different fantastical races, anti-magic sentiment, constant action, water to desert questing, bad news interference by evil overlords, and limited lusty elements.

Wow! Seriously WOW! I received an advance copy of this amazing book and now I can't wait for Book #3 in this series. From the very first page there was action and adventure and mystery and all things wonderful in a book.

By Blood and Magic starts where Book #1 "To Kill a Fae" left off, but with a whole new location and a whole new adventure. As much as I love to read, I don't tend to get this excited about a series. I'm so glad to see there are more upcoming books in the works! This Dragon Portal series is everything I want and love in a book series. The characters are amazing and there is magic, demons, dragons, merfolk, mystery, adventure, romance and a touch of humor with the pixie, Blossom. I love the worlds this author has created and how new alliances are being formed with each new adventure. And I loved how the different cultures were shown to the reader, and how these characters came to be as they are. Fascinating how I could visualize it all!

The story starts off with the ship they are traveling on coming under attack with prisoners being taken and a trade being negotiated, all the while keeping the main objective to seal the portal in sight. Without giving away any spoilers, let me tell you that as soon as you think Sabine and Malek are safe, another danger is thrown at them. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what happens but at the same time not wanting it to end! I can't wait for more! Pre-ordering Book #3 now!
