Another winner in the Alaska Force series - this is Caradine and Isaac's story. Isaac is the leader of Alaska Force, ex-military men and women who go on special ops where they're needed. He's had a love hate relationship with the snarky owner of the only restaurant in town, Caradine, for awhile. Isaac knows she has secrets but then so do most people who live so far off the beaten path. When her past comes to town trying to kill her, he realizes how much she means to him. Caradine doesn't want anyone's help but Isaac won't take no for an answer. Lots of action, suspense, and romance made this book hard to put down. Recommended.

Caradine is a woman who should be dead after an explosion killed most of her family. She left that life behind, changed her name, and started over in Alaska. She runs a cafe and keeps everyone at a distance. When her place is set on fire, she runs knowing it’s someone from her past that wants her dead. Isaac is former Marine but now runs Alaska Force, a special ops company. Isaac and Caradine have had a sexual relationship but when he hears about her place, he heads straight to her. He finds her in Maine and becomes her protector whether she likes it or not. The only way to live a safe life, is to find out who’s out to kill her.
At first I felt like the story started somewhere in the middle and I missed the beginning but the more I read, the more interesting it became. A grouchy woman on the run and a man who doesn’t know how to do anything but fight. Suspense and sex.
