Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. This book just grabbed me and dragged me in! I apparently missed book 1 but it was not needed as this was steamy and sexy enough to make up for it! Sorry it took so long to read. I had a long list

Scars and Sins by Melanie Minton is Ace and Roxy's story. This story involves crime families. Add to that controlling parents and one hot couple. This is an enjoyable book, but it seemed slow to start.
Overall I did enjoy this book.

This story is told from dual POV's, Ace's and Roxy's. It starts very slowly to the point of annoying. Its bogged down in unnecessary details, overly descriptive and mind-numbing. I suspect many will DNF (did not finish) this book because it's so hard to get past the beginning. I struggled through as I had an arc to review. Even once we get into the action, it didn't appeal to me. I found Ace to be too possessive crossing into a stalker and Roxy was immature and naive. In my opinion, this book isn't worth purchasing.

I received a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The second book in the series, but that does mean they need to be read it order. I like this one more than the first, in part because Ace unlike his brother Cris didnt come off as a possessive ass. The Rossetti's are the sixth family exiled from the Italian mafia in New York. The Sicilians are coming to New York to deal with the situation are the imprisonment and the death of the last 2 leaders of the mafia. The mafia also want revenge on Ace's family. Roxy was best friends with Gia (Ace's little sister) and had a massive crush on Ace until she was shipped off after their father's falling out and the murder of her mother and brother. Now that she is back Ace is determined to protect her and things get steamy quickly. Fun read.

You can never lose with a Melanie Munton book! Her characters are strong and sexy, her plots are hot and intriguing, and she always throws in a twist or two to keep it interesting. After all, the mafia is an unpredictable bunch.

When Roxy is basically dragged back to New York by her father, Vincenzo D’Angelo, she is furious. It’s not the first time he’s controlled her life, but not anymore. She is going to live her own life by getting an internship at the hospital a few blocks from the man she has loved since she was 10 years old. Ace Rosetti. Her best friend, Gia’s brother. The family she was forbidden to see after the tragic accident that killed her mother and brother. But something is up. Ace is flirting with her. Her. The girl he treated like a kid sister for years.

Ace couldn’t believe this goddess was Roxy D’Angelo. She was like his little sister. But she’s changed. She was strictly off-limits…or so he told himself. He was there to protect her because something was going down in the mafia family. Her father brought her home for some reason. What he finds out will put their families in danger from the Sicilian Mafia.

I couldn’t wait for Ace and Roxy’s story after finishing the first Brooklyn Brothers book about Cris Rosetti and Jasmine’s whirlwind romance. Ace is the youngest brother and apparently a genius when it comes to technology and gadgets. After graduating MIT he now owns his own business designing and installing high-grade private security systems which he sometimes uses for nefarious reasons. Roxy is no slouch herself. She is a Yale graduate and is enrolled in Yale Medical School where she plans to return in a few months, but then all hell breaks loose. Her father is a mastermind at schemes and he has a doozy that involves her and she’s not happy with it. No more spoilers, but it had me flinch on what he was planning. Of course, I always love the Rosetti family with their playful banter and protectiveness for the people that are close to them. I can’t wait to find out about Gia’s secret boyfriend and Nico’s shocking announcement at the end of this book.

I love Melanie Munton’s well-rounded characters, exciting plots, and hot, hot, hot love scenes and Book 2 continues the tradition. She catches the reader’s attention from the first paragraph and draws one in until you can’t wait to begin a new Brooklyn Brothers book. Recommend highly!

Thank you to Ms. Munton for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely kept me turning that page and putting off sleep at night just to finish it.

When the book starts off it is rather slow to really get into the book. I struggled through the first few chapters because I was trying to understand what was going on. There was a book before this one that maybe had some insight into it but I never read it so I was at a handicap.

However, Roxy and Ace were fire honestly! Once I understood what was going on I really started to devour the book. It didn't take long and I was putting off going to sleep last night just to finish the book. I felt like I couldn't make it through another work day if I didn't read the ending.

If you are looking for a lovers that are not meant to be book or maybe even some gangster/mafia romance definitely pick up this book it will keep you flipping the page until you have read it in full!

I love Roxy and Ace! Talk about complicated. Their families and the history between them make their journey a rough one. Fans of crime family drama will love this series. There is intense suspense and sexy romance. These characters draw you in. I've become invested in the Brooklyn brothers and the women who love them. I can't wait for the next book!

And then there was Will. The last in the Seaside Pictures trilogy. Book two left off with an annoyed Will coming face to face with Linc's sister Ang - and it appeared they had a past. And what a past it is. We learn all about it in this story as we get to enjoy this second chance love story about the two of them.
The story definitely didn't start off that way. The two of them hate each other. Can't stand to be around each other. But Will is her agent for this one movie. All he has to do is make sure she gets to set and behaves - almost like he's having to babysit her. What he didn't expect was for their past to be brought back to them - in front of an audience and be forced to face it once more. So much is being said through eyes instead of lips. Words that should be said are not. But for how long? But how can a love that's lost, a love that's been painfully torn from you - come back? How can you trust it again?

Ooooh my god! I just love Rachel's writing so much! Her Seaside stories are absolutely amazing! I love the whole gang! And do not even get me started on all those group chats they have! I'm going to die laughing from one of these books! I swear! I accidently read Seaside Pictures first before Seaside.... so now i'm dying to hear Jay's story! I have to backtrack. But seriously... if you haven't read these stories yet, you need to get on them!
It's so sad to listen to the story unfold of Will and Ang's past. How bad things had been and everything the two of them have gone through. You can really tell how much they love each other. The struggles they are both going through as they are forced to see each other again, every single day. Jay - in typical Jay fashion has a few tricks up his sleeve during the movie shoot. He's a tricky one and I love it! Everyone is in this book again. You see them all and will be entertained by all your favourite characters once more. I love how Rachel can write such smooth, romantic, moving and yet hilarious stories and with so many key characters and still keep everything steady. Her characters are all individually unique and stay true to their own personalities in every book. She is such a talented writer!
Seaside Pictures is a top contender in my favorite trilogies! Definitely pick it up! You'll love everything about it because it gives you everything you'll ever need in a great story!

Scars and Sins by Melanie Munton is book Two in the Brooklyn Brothers Series. This is the story of Roxanna "Roxy" and Ace. I have read the previous book which helped me to enjoy this one but I did feel you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. Roxy was the annoying little friend of his sister and was off limits to him. Then their families became enemies and Roxy who had a crush on him ended up leaving to go to college. Now after about 5 years her father has called her back home. Ace's family and her are still enemies but when Ace lays eyes on Roxy after not seeing her for years he see a whole new person. The attraction is strong and it just keeps drawing them into something that neither came have. Enjoyed this mafia take on a Romeo and Juliet story.

An enjoyable fast paced read. If you like mafia and HEA this book will be for you, I struggled to get into it , it was slow to start and I wasn’t keen and how the book was set out, however it was still a nice read, lots of sizzle and you do get a HEA. Just wish it had been a bit quicker to pick up at the start.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

*ARC kindly provided via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.*

I love mafia romances! So, when Jamsu told me that she got accepted for this ARC, I thought to give it a try as well. This was my first book from the author.

Roxy and Ace’s relationship is a very complicated one. Anything between them is doomed from the start because of their families. Ace’s family, the Rosettis, stepped out from the New York syndicate years ago. However, he never stopped caring for her. Roxy had a crush on Ace for years. Being her best friend’s older brother, she used to spend many hours at his house.

For the past 5 years they haven’t seen each other. Roxy stopped any communication with the Rosetti family and left for college, Now she’s back because of her father. Of course, Ace couldn’t stay away for long. What he didn’t anticipated was his newfound attraction towards her.

“You might break me, you might ruin me. But you can’t fucking hurt me Rox.”

I don’t want to spoil the plot. What I’ll say is that the story is full of secrets and agendas. This wouldn’t be a mafia romance without some action, so be prepared for it!

I really like the book. What kept me from giving it 5 stars, was the start of the book. I had a difficult time getting into it, but thankfully I was sucked right in after that! I’ll be looking for the author’s next book; I want to find out what happened with Nico!!

I recieved an advanced ereader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via #netgalley and #melaniemunton .

This book is the first book I read by Melanie Munton and I really enjoyed it. It is the second in the Brooklyn Brothers series. It goes between two views, Roxy ( whose family is still part of the "5 Mafia families" that originated in Sicily) and Ace(whos family was one of the original "six Mafia families" from Sicily, but his family has been ousted for many years now. )
Roxy has had a crush on Ace since childhood, Ace since he was a teen. While home visiting her father for the summer and doing a internship at a Brooklyn hospital, Ace and Roxys(whos becomming a doctor) paths cross and finally nothing can hold them back from telling,or showing each other how much they feel for each other.
There's lots of sexual tension, and explicit sex between Ace and Roxy ( not an issue for me), the steam meter is on 12!!!
I definitely suggest this book if you like HEA,Mafia stories.

I give it a 5 out of 5 stars, it had me hooked from the start and to be honest, I didn't want it to be finished! Can't wait for the 3rd book!

This book is the first book I read by Melanie Munton and I really enjoyed it. This book is the second one in the Brooklyn Brother's series. It can be read as a standalone.

This book is told from duel points of view from Roxy and Ace. I like duel format books because I like hearing what each character is thinking.

Ace and Roxy are from different mafia families. Roxy was best friends with Ace's sister when they were younger. She had a big crush on Ace growing up, but he always treated her like his sister.

Five years later, Roxy and Ace's family isn't talking. The head Mafia person doesn't want any of the other mafia families talking to Ace's family. Roxy's father asks her to come back for the summer and Ace decided to watch out for her, because he fears she is in danger. He runs in to her and feelings start to develop between the two of them.

Can he protect her and his family? Can they survive the mafia's wrath?

I really liked this book, and some of the turns it took. I'm going to go back and read the first book, and I can't wait until the next one comes out!

I liked being a part of blog tour, so I decided to scroll down some ARCs that were available for request in Netgalley. I saw the second book for Brooklyn Brothers there and I loved the cover and even though I knew it had friends to lovers couple I decided to give it a chance. I mean mafia romance? Count me in. I didn't really think I'd be accepted but I did. I haven't requested many ARCs but this one is the very first I was accepted.

I didn't like how there was a flash-forward after the prologue. They just always make want to jump to the part of the book that continues the prologue instead of focusing what's happening at the moment and after that waiting the reason for the heroine's "heartbreak" felt pretty lame.

This doesn't mean I disliked the book. I actually enjoyed it but it wasn't just for me. It's rare for writers to be able to make me like friends to lovers trope, especially when the couple have known each other since the childhood.

Roxy wants to become a doctor and she's part of one of the five (technically six) mafia families. Ace is intelligent. He never really saw Roxy as anything but his little sister's friend. She even thought that he saw her as another sister. Roxy always had a crazy crush on her but he didn't see her like that until she comes back home after five years. Now Ace doesn't only want to protect her but he also wants her. It's too bad that Roxy doesn't want any part of their family drama.

I wish we had seen more about the whole mafia world but at least we got our happily ever after. At first I didn't even think our heroine knew that her dad's in the mafia. I still don't really get why her dad didn't put her into some self defense classes.

I still want to find out what happens with Nico (one of Ace's brothers) after that ending.

I voluntarily read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine

I really enjoyed this
Loved the characters and the stories - very hot and steamy with added mafia storyline

Recommend both author and book - will certainly be looking out for more of this author

This book is about Roxy, she has had a long time crush on Ace. She was friends growing up with his younger sister Gia who was the brother of Ace. Roxy left for med school and returned 5 years later at the request of her father. Ace sees her in a whole new light 5 years later now that she’s all grown up. Roxy’s dad is mixed up in the mafia, one of 6 families. He gets into trouble and needs the help of an enemy family to get out. There is lots of drama, action, and a great plot line. My only negative is you get lost in all the 6 family’s of mafia’s, I feel it is too much to keep up with. Over all it was a good read.
