This book was adorable! I loved Huck and I am super picky about rockstar romance novels. His relationship with his daughter was just so sweet and endearing. Also, the mental health representation was realistic and nice to see in a romance. I definitely recommend this book!

This book had really great potential. I liked the mental health (anxiety) rep and the overall concept and characters were good. However, it was all over the place. The pacing was weird and the main character kept giving me emotional whiplash. Things would be hot and cold and then hot and then cold in just about every conversation/interaction with the love interest until about 90% and then suddenly everything was just great and all was solved? A bit of a train wreck.

This was a cute small town romance with a more serious vibe, considering our heroine Amelia suffers from anxiety. I read this one as a stand alone however I think it would be better suited to those that have read the other books in the series.

you shouldn't name your character something super close to your other character in a pervious book, i kept thinking i was still reading about the other girl.

This was a cute small-town story. The book started off great but lost me a little half way through the book. A quick read and overall enjoyable.

Super cute and what a fast read this one was. This is the 3rd in a series but it seems they are all stand alone because I had no problem with any backstory. I love series reads that are completely stand alone. I feel like anyone can pick up a book at any time. Although they do make me want to read the rest of the series. Bad news for my wallet. LOL

I love a good story where the rock star falls for the normal person. It always gives a birdseye view into how that could actually happen. Amelia and Huck, sigh. I loved them. I thought the banter between them was fantastic. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship grow and I loved the laugh out loud moments. I felt sometimes that Amelia seemed a bit immature in a couple of the interactions with Huck which seemed a bit unbelievable for me. But perhaps that was how her anxiety was portrayed.

I really enjoyed this one 4.5 stars from me.

The Plan is the third book in the Creek Water series, and it was a quick listen. I’m pretty sure it is on Kindle Unlimited if you want to read it. I’m pretty neutral on this series as a whole - the books were fine. I’m not sure I would have kept reading…I had them on @NetGalley, so I felt like I needed to finish the series.

Thanks to @NetGalley for my ARC!

Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing an advance reading copy of her book The Plan in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

This book can be read as a standalone which I did but there are references that you might not recognize if you didn’t read the two previous books.

I was prepared to hate this book. The premise was definitely a fangirl x hot rockstar. I thought this would be another brew of teenage girl and aspiring rockstar cliché. Boy, how wrong I was. Instead, I ended falling in love with this book.

“When you have anxiety, you don’t feel like a normal person. You feel like an oddball, like a freak. Like you’re the only one who isn’t right in the head.”

This book is about Amelia Frothingham, a woman in her early thirties. She battles anxiety everyday but she’s quite content with her single life as a beads shop owner and a beading teacher. She has lived her whole life in the small town of Creek Water and she intends on staying there forever. Until, that is, hot rockstar Huck Wiley visits her small town and rocks her world.

I love the voices of the characters. The Southern accent is just so vivid I can actually hear it (I’m not American if you’re wondering why I’m so pumped up about this. I think this is also the first book I read that had such a clear Southern accent among the characters). Amelia’s voice though doesn’t sound like she’s in her thirties. More like early twenties. But then, according to Amelia’s teacher, everyone is basically in their twenties stuck in old bodies.

The chemistry between the characters is so fun to see. The love-dislike (hate, I think, is too heavy for this context) relationship between Amelia and her mom is something I am very familiar with and I love how this book showed those two sides and how the mother-daughter duo navigated that. But damn, the chemistry between Amelia and Huck is just a sizzling fire of sexual tension that continued to grow throughout the book. I swear, by the middle of the book, every interaction of Amelia and Huck had me reeling. I wanted them to just throw away everything and get on with it! [spoilers] I really wanted a sex scene from them so bad. I think it would have been glorious! The two (or three?) kisses we had from them were not enough! But I love how Amelia drew the line of not going to bed with him not until she really knew that she was his and he was hers and I love how Huck respected that. We can also see the contrast of the environment they grew up in: Huck with the liberated culture of Los Angeles, and Amelia with a more conservative environment of Creek Water. It shows us how different the two are yet they fit so perfectly.

What made me fall in love with this book though was how Huck was a single father and prioritized his daughter among others. Huck made mistakes, learned and became responsible. Amelia respected that and embraced it. Amelia talked of her anxiety, her deepest fears and Huck respected that and helped Amelia conquer them.

This book is not just the usual cheating, sex-filled, normal-life-of-fangirl-turned-upside-down-after-falling-in-love-with-a-popular-male singer/member of a boyband. It’s a story of respect, of family, of discovery, of conquering one’s fear, of acceptance. It’s about the lengths we would go for our loved ones.

“It’s not what you have to lose that matters, Amelia. It’s what you have to gain” - Huck

Although read a bit late, thank you so much to Whitney Deen for a wonderful first read for 2021! Definitely recommended to everyone who wants to unwind or have a short read. You’ll surely devour it in one day!

This was a sweet small-town story that just flowed very well. I really liked both Amilia and Huck, as well as the supporting characters (didn’t realize this was part of a series). It was a quick read that I enjoyed. I recommend.

unfortunately not my cup of tea - i found the dialogue jarring and difficult to follow and i doing it difficult to connect with any characters. Perhaps a better read if you follow the series

This is the 3rd book in series. Amelia has a bead shop in town and wants everyone to think she’s happy but in reality she has a lot of anxiety. Because of this she doesn’t go out of her comfort zone. Huck comes to town with his daughter For a few months. These 2 bond over the daughter who also has anxiety issues. As Amelia & Huck fall I love, Amelia finds herself getting over some of her issues. This book was a good romantic read.

At first I was disappointed with this one. I mean being a control freak and a beader kind of go hand in hand. Also weird family dynamic but I learned that this series is best when read in order. Maybe I will fell different after I read the first two.

Unfortunately, I really struggled with this book - that might have been because it’s part of a series that I haven’t read and didn’t realise this when I requested the book.

I can see from the reviews of others that they really enjoyed this book, but sadly it wasn’t for me.

I would recommend that others read the series first, if you’re interested in reading this book

Not really a fan of this book. The dialect was super hard to follow and understand. Also I don’t think that Missouri is a southern state. Maybe my opinion comes from the fact that I tried to read this book as a stand alone, when it is actually a part of a series.

Amelia has lived a quiet life in the town where she grew up. She plans to continue living that quiet life until Huck the rock star comes into her life. She and Huck’s daughter bond over their shared anxieties. Amelia and Huck develop a tenuous relationship and end up falling in love.

This book was all over the place. It was a sweet Christian novel, then Huck was seducing her one day after meeting her. I have anxiety and this book was very triggering in a number of ways. The way it was so dismissive about “curing” the anxiety. The coping mechanisms. It was all a hot mess. I loved the concept but I couldn’t get over the mood swings.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I struggled with this book and put it down halfway through. I really wanted to love it and liked Huck and Maggie so much, but as a Missourian, I spent more time texting my friend about how frustrated I was at the portrayal of us as Southern that it just wasn't something I could give my reading minutes to. There just aren't enough minutes for me to spend them frustrated. Thank you for letting me try! I really do appreciate the opportunity and I am so hopeful that those without a personal connection will enjoy this as they should.

This is my honest opinion about The Plan: A Sweet and Sexy Rock Star Romantic Comedy written by Whitney Dineen. Thank you, NetGalley for this ARC and; in exchange to that, I am writing my honest review for this book.

Although the book is a series of The Creek Water, I am glad that I could read it as a standalone novel.

I love this book. I giggled and smiled a lot while reading it. I just love the patience that Huck has towards Amelia Frothingham and his daughter Maggie. His romantic gestures were the only reason that hooked me up to this book. Reading the book reminds me of "The Kiss Quotient" and "The Bride Test".

Amelia thinks too much. I wish I could stop her mind off so that she could think straight and clear. Maggie didn't appear like a 10 years old girl. Which her presence sometimes, disturbed me. I wish that the author could make Maggie sounded more like a little girl rather than make her sounded like an old lady.

Overall, I love it. I realized that the characters all complete the story. The plotlines are very detail and precise. It's a wonderful romantic comedy and I look forward to reading more of Whitney Dineen's book.

I m giving 4 stars to this book as it deserves.

Great story set in a wonderful town. The story is a continuation of this series but can be read as a stand alone. Though once you read this you will be amiss not to buy the other books.
