As a diabetic who is trying to eat less meat, some of the recipes in this book are delicious! I will definitely be adding a hard copy to my collection.

This is a perfect cookbook for vegetarians looking to follow a more keto based diet. Keto diet calls for a ton of fat and this author helps you gear your diet towards Ketosis using a vegetarian based meal. This is a wicked concept since a lot of people get tired of eating so much meat. I’m not a vegetarian but I like the idea that we can still have ketosis without all the meat. So really I’ve latched onto this cookbook so all our meals still have fat based content but less meat.

What did I like? The concept that you can have the keto diet without all the meat. I also love how the author explains how to check your body for ketosis, and give a more in depth look of what that actually is. I loved the dip recipes too, I usually have to give up dips in a diet so it was really great to see some recipes for that.

Would I recommend or buy? Yes, I think to successfully have a keto diet some of these recipes will help you maintain ketosis without the expensive meat. Or maybe you don’t like meat that much, and this gives you some other options. I just happen to love vegetarian recipes but need a keto diet due to health issues. Keto diet has a huge success with mental clarity as well.

Thoughts for the author? Beautiful cookbook! Congratulations on your new release! I received a copy from Netgalley in return I’m offering my opinion. Great recipes.

This is exactly the kind of cookbook I was looking for. As a vegetarian for 30 years, it’s always been hard to find a diet that works for my lifestyle. So many recipes are for meat eaters. So many diets are based around meat eaters. This had great information on the Keto diet and the recipes sound amazing! I cannot wait to try some of them out. I highly recommend this for vegetarians or people looking to eat less meat.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Keto for Vegetarians is a tutorial guide and recipe collection for ketogenic weight loss using plant based recipes. Due out 17th March 2020 from Callisto on their Rockridge Press imprint, it's 250 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats (ebook available now). It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.

The book has a logical and easy to follow format. Chapters 1-2 cover the background of weight loss planning (including a pantry staples lists and tools and supplies) as well as a very general layman-accessible discussion of the mechanics of ketogenesis itself. Chapters 3 includes a 14 day meal plan for a quick start. There is a lot of good advice in these chapters which are applicable to any meal prep and planning sessions, not just for weight loss. The author also includes some logical pointers about containers, ingredients, and supplies. The recipe chapters are arranged thematically: breakfast & smoothies, salads soups & sandwiches, snacks appetizers & savory fat bombs, mains, desserts, staples & recipe ingredients.

The meal plan chapters include a surprisingly varied selection of multiple day to weekly meal plans with different tastes and representing different world cuisines: Italian, American, Asian, and more.

The recipes have their ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard only. Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. Most of the ingredients are easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store. The nutritional info is included in a footer at the end of each recipe. The book also includes a short author bio, and a metric conversion chart, but lacks any index or general ingredients index.

My one small quibble with the book is that the recipes are mostly not photographed. There are some photos, and they're clear and attractive, but they only represent about 5% of the recipes.

Four stars.
