I was sucked into this one immediately because the action started from the get go. This was definitely a second chance romance, but the suspense was at the forefront. I felt like it never really slowed down or stopped since there were so many twists and turns, tons of danger and a lot of revelations. It was also a great plot point to see Ana harboring a lot of guilt over what had happened in the past, and then working through it and learning to forgive herself. Definitely pick this one up if you're looking for tons of action with some romance/tension/chemistry mixed in. It was a great ride and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have really enjoyed this new mini-series from Harlequin Intrigue featuring four books with each one written by a different author. The first book 48 Hour Lockdown, introduced the Tactical Crime Division of the FBI. In the third installment of this series, Midnight Abduction, we meet agent Ana Ramirez who specializes in kidnapping cases. She’s called in when her ex-boyfriend requests the help of the Tactical Crime Division, specifically asking for Ana, when his twin children are kidnapped. Benning Reeves’ daughter is recovered very quickly, but his son is used a way for the kidnapper to get what he wants from Reeves–and it’s all somehow tied up in the missing person’s case that brought Ana into Benning’s life seven years ago to begin with.

This book is refreshingly different since the FBI agent is a bad ass, take-no-prisoners woman, and Ana really takes a beating in this book. I’m not sure how she kept going after multiple assaults from the bad guy. Even damsel in distress Benning takes a decent amount of damage, and he’s just a regular guy. Ana is smart, very observant, and most of all so tenacious and hell bent on not losing a single one of her cases to foul play–especially since this one is very personal to her. Benning proves to be a great ally once he finally opens up to his part in what has put him and his family in the cross hairs.

I give Midnight Abduction a four out of five. I’m not sure if this series is a bit formulaic with the second chance romance theme since I’ve only read two of the four books in the series, but the authors approach the characters differently and mix the situations up so much that I enjoyed reading the books. This installment was very fast paced and chock so full of action that the small moments of breathing room were filled with the characters’ memories and regrets, leading to great insights into them and their relationships. A few agents from the other books in the series do pop in, but Midnight Abduction is very focused on Ana, Benning, his kids, and their past, so this can easily be read as a standalone with no problem. You just have to suspend your belief in reality that Ana could take the gunshots, knife wounds, and broken bones and keep going. It’s definitely not realistic. Overall, a fun book that keeps you interested and on your toes.

I downloaded all 4 TCD books when they were available because I thought they sounded really interesting. I’ve since realized this series isn’t for me so won’t be reading/reviewing. Thank you for the opportunity.

This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed!

Midnight Abduction hits all the emotions, it digs deep, it is gripping, potent, and powerful with the force of feels ranging from adoration, to regret to fear and back. The tale mesmerized me. The danger is constantly present, nothing is given, the fight for survival is fierce, and peril is near and deathly. The up, close, and dangerous fight for life, the many hits, the gun-wounds, the unknown culprits, the constant terror of the kids' survival - - it is riveting, it is captivating, making the book unputdownable with the need to know more.
Benning Reeves and Ana Ramirez have a painful history that had drastic consequences on both of their lives. I loved the honesty and respect they had for each other. They talked about the hard things, Benning was transparent about his relationship to his kids' mother, he was honest about his fears and wishes for the future, about his feelings towards Ana. At first, I was puzzled with Ana's reasoning of her life choices, yet as the story progress and she opened up and the plot develops, understanding dawned.
Nichole Severn writes dynamic romantic suspense where the intrigue is explosive and intense and the romance is ardent yet sweet and clean. I love her books, I enjoy the high energy and tense atmosphere of them, and I think Midnight Abduction is my favorite book of hers to date. With the fragile emotional turbulence and the vulnerability of the protagonists, it just touched me even deeper and broader than others before.
Romantic suspense at its best form, I highly recommend Midnight Abduction. It is a book that left me in awe and gave me the best kind of book hangover. Loved it!

This was my first book by this author and it was just an okay read for me. I didn’t love that the plot involved small children and I found it a little strange that the hero was starting a romance while his children were missing. The pacing of the story was good and I liked how it immediately jumped into the plot. Like a lot of Harlequin books the ending wrapped up a bit quick for my taste, but it was still fairly enjoyable. Three stars.

This is the third book of the Tactical Crime Division series. If you love romantic suspense, you need to go get this book! This story revolves around Ana Ramirez and Benning Reeves. Ana left Benning about 7 years ago and it is obvious to the reader that they still have some sizzling chemistry between them. Benning calls Ana to help him find his kidnapped twins. He has the most faith in her ability to track down the kidnapper and figure out what is going on.

Ana views this case as a chance to help a friend, save lives and prove that she is a good agent. The twins in this story really add a lot as secondary characters. Olivia is very bright and imagines herself to be an investigator when she grows up. The bond between the twins and Benning is very heartwarming and you can see right away that he will do anything for his children.

The story itself is action-packed and will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is definitely a violent criminal element in the story. Benning and Ana are injured during some encounters, but they keep fighting for the children. Lots of twists and turns. I don’t think you will be able to put down the book until you finish. If you like the other books in this series, definitely give this one a try. It can also be read as a standalone. I read them out of order without realizing it at first and I don’t think it took anything away from the stories. I definitely enjoy the happily ever afters in this series. We all need some feel-good moments during these stressful times.

Midnight Abduction by Nicole Severn is packed full of danger, grief, and the fight to survive. A father finds a hidden skull, is almost attacked, hides the skull only to find that his kids have been taken. From there, chaos reins. The man is torn about what to do. He goes to the FBI asking for the one agent who turned him down seven years ago.

Loss, betrayal, and hurt explode with every page. There is so much action, it was like watching a Jason Bourne spy movie live. The emotional journey is epic. The cast of characters were perfect. Starting with the damaged emotionally inside, FBI agent, Ana, to the father of the missing kids. There was not a single moment of boring scenes or not understanding what was happening. Nicole Severn has caught my full-attention with her latest book, Midnight Abduction. I look forward to reading more books written by her soon.

This one is full of actions suspense read spiced with second chance romance and I love it, like really really really love it.

It starts with kidnapping and since then the suspense and mystery keeps coming and let's not forget about all the actions, all the fighting got me cringe, it's like watching it from the front row seat, I keep yelling rooting for the heroine to beat the bad guy, the details so real and gory. Then add cute adorable kids and old sparks between the heroine and her ex that put a sweetness in the story and a big smile in my face.
Great story, awesome characters, superb actions, totally recommended for suspense romance lovers.

Overall - 2
Heat - 1

The Tactical Crime Division is a specialized unit of the FBI, handling the toughest cases in some of the most remote locations. When Benning Reeves’s twins are kidnapped, the frantic father turns to the only place he knows of for help: the Tactical Crime Division and ultimately Ana Ramirez. Even though the beautiful agent once broke his heart, Benning feels like she is the only one he can trust. Ana is still tormented by the unresolved case that brought them together years before. When it becomes clear that the old case and the new one are somehow connected can Benning and Ana put aside the past and work together to save the children in time?

I've been working my way through all of the books in this series and unfortunately I found I liked this one the least. I think because I have a hard time believing some of the plot points related to the mystery. For example, the action starts when Benning finds a human skull at a building he is inspecting as a structural inspector. He takes the skull HOME and hides it, then his kids get taken, and obviously the two are connected. What sane parent would endanger their kids like this?

The author seemed to struggle with the balance of the mystery plot and the second chance romance. Sometimes the chapter was too procedural heavy, and others felt very emotional and all progress to find the kids was forgotten. It also didn't showcase the other team members in a way that was believable considering they were searching for two children. Once again this book is extremely low on the steam, which just isn't my preference and seems to be the norm for this series.

Overall this was not a good one for me and I'd suggest you save your pennies. ARC received in exchange for an honest opinion.

Midnight Abduction by Nichole Severn
Tactical Crime Division (TCD) #3

Benning Reeves has had the worst day of his life when he realizes one of his twins is in the hospital and the other is being held hostage by a killer. All he has to do is not contact the FBI or police and return a skull to the madman and all will be well…or will it really? I mean, who can trust a madman killer? So, he reaches out to the woman he knew and loved seven years ago – an FBI agent with the specialty of finding those who have been taken. And, moments after Agent Ramirez arrives the fireworks begin. From that point on it is a life or death situation that includes, knives, guns, crowbars, axes, deceit, bombs, fisticuffs, psychological warfare and a w hole lot more. Will the TCD team win or will the bad guy get away with…murder, kidnapping and more?

What I liked:
* Agent Ramirez: a tough cookie that has sealed off her emotions in order to focus her attention on her job. This case may crack her protective shell as she deals with the man she once loved.
* Benning: a good man, great father, a person who does what is right, and totally willing to do what it takes to get his children back…and woo Ana again.
* The pace and action
* The writing
* The amazing recuperative powers of the two main characters <tongue in cheek> they seem to have terminator healing abilities (have to suspend medical reality a bit to believe all they endure and are able to come out still standing)
* Owen and Olivia: twins that were interesting young people – perhaps geniuses with their reading and other abilities or perhaps just written older than most normal six year old children really are.
* The HEA for the two main characters
* That those who were evil were unveiled and justice was served.

What I did not like:
* The bad guys

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Intrigue for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Midnight Abduction by Nichole Severn is the second novel in the Tactical Crime Division series. Benning Reeves is attacked, and his twins are kidnapped. He knows one person who can help him: Ana Ramirez. Ana is a former girlfriend and a member of the Tactical Crime Division. They may have broken up, but their feelings for each other have not gone away. They must put them aside and focus on locating the twins. The men who took his kids are ruthless. Benning uncovered something during an inspection that the bad guys want returned. Can Ana and the Tactical Crime Division get the twins back safely? I thought it was well-written and moved along at a speedy pace. There is plenty of action in this romantic suspense novel. I do want readers to know that the story contains violence (people are shot, knifed, blown up, beat up) along with foul language. Each book in the TCD series can be read on its own. I like that Benning and Ana are strong characters. They keep going no matter what happens to them (I would have asked for morphine and passed out in a comfy bed). I just loved the ending of Midnight Abduction. Midnight Abduction is a thrilling novel that will have you up late to finish it.

I love that they put a cast of characters before you dig into the book. It helps keep tract of all the different endless characters that come and go in the series.

Nichole Severn has the ability to create a balance book with nail biting moments, teasing banter, and sweet romance without eye rolling moments.

The story will pull at readers wanting and almost need to read the book to make sure everyone you come to love comes out alive.

The author is able to keep readers update even as this book can be read as a stand alone novel in a series that this reader is planning on picking up when the stores open again.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of Nichole Severn Midnight Abduction

Wow!
So much suspense. Intrigue. Twist. Turns. Angst. Feelings!
I loved it!
Ana Sofia Ramirez has had a hard career as a member of TCD. It's time for redemption. Unfortunately, it involves her ex and love of her life, Benning Reeves.
How will they find his kidnapped son while fighting the attraction that hasn't died throughout the years? Get over the pain and hurt of their separation?
This is an angst, twist and turn filled book you won't be able to put down!
I highly reccommend it to suspense lovers and Criminal Minds fans!

Both the author and the series are new to me , so I was unsure what to expect. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Tactical Crime Division, TCD, is a special unit of the FBI. Created to handle very tough cases in remote areas.
In this story the main characters are single Dad of twins Benning Reeves and FBI agent Ana Ramirez, who is also a member of TCD. These two had a relationship years ago and each went their separate ways. But when one of the twins in abducted, Benning contacts Ana.
The plot was filled with suspense, bad guys, good ones and of course , romance.
Though at times I felt I was missing something for not having read the previous books, I was still able to enjoy the book.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Harlequin. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

My thoughts

Would I recommended it? Yes

Would I read more of this series? Yes, in fact I have the last book to read

Would I read more by this author? Yes

Once again a great win for this series and not once has it let me down, it has since book one reached out and grabbed me and had me hooked from the very first page to the last page. Will be said to see this series ends especially since I have the last book to read and review. And each book has dealt with a hard topic that very much hits what happening in the real world today, book one deals with a take over at a school, book 2 deals with someone harming our solders for money, this one deals with the taking of children and book 4 which I haven't read yet deals alone the lines of someone tempering with medicine. As with the other 2 books this one is fast pace and each character gets their time to shine and come out to play and you get more of their backstory as well. And like I said before this one deals with the taking of children and how long the they have to find them, why they was taken and what will happening if their not found in time. The author does an excellent job of weaving the story from the start to finish, bring not only her characters to life but the story as well, and how she's keeps the romance and the suspense mixed really well so that one doesn't over take the other just goes to show how well of an author she is. With that said I want to thank the publisher as well as NetGalley a big thanks for letting me read and review this book as well as helping me find a new author I can't wait to read more of.

Benning Reeves is desperate when his six year old twins, Olivia and Owen, are kidnapped. He contacts the Tactical Crime Division and requests the one person he could count on, Ana Ramirez. Benning and the special agent had been involved until she walked out on him. However, he knows she’s good at her job and can find his children.

Ana Ramirez is not thrilled to be assigned to her former lover’s case, but she can’t turn her back on two young children. If it means spending time with Benning, then she’ll do it. The big question for her is why Benning and his children have been targeted.

This is the third book in the Tactical Crime Division, but it can be read on its own. I didn’t read the two previous books and I don’t feel like I missed anything. This story is contained in this book - it starts and ends here. No cliffhangers.

I really liked Benning and Ana. Both are strong characters. It was a bit superhero-ish as they both had enough broken bones and gunshots to make you wonder how they kept going, but they did. Very similar to any TV show or movie I’ve watched where the hero and/or heroine kept getting up no matter how often they were knocked down.

I thought the romance took a backseat to the mystery but that’s to be expected when children are involved. I would expect Benning to be more concerned about his children than rekindling an old romance. The balance between both were handled well.

To say this story is an adventurous roller coaster would be an understatement. The action never takes a breather in this romantic suspense. Talk about a fast-paced book. That is more than true in this one. I sped right through it. This is 256 pages of excitement, mystery, intrigue and romance. My heart is still racing. I’ll definitely be reading more in this series.

Midnight Abduction is another wonderful addition to the Tactical Crime Division series. The story introduces Ana Ramirez and Benning Reeves. Ana is an FBI agent who transferred to the Tactical Crime Division and Benning is a building inspector. Ana and Benning shared a romantic history, but circumstances led to them separating. However, their feelings for each other did not fade with time. So, when someone kidnapped Benning’s twins, he requested the one person he believed he could trust to find his children. It didn’t matter that she broke his heart; he knew she would give her all when it came to doing her job.

Haunted by the memories associated with a failed operation where a life was lost, Ana has withdrawn from the people she loves and lives her life in isolation. Her transfer to the TCD was an opportunity to redeem herself and the kidnapping case would be her last chance to save her career.
Fast-paced and adrenaline pumping, the story kept me on my toes from start to finish.

I marvelled at the characters’ resilience. No matter the number of times the number of injuries they both suffered, which includes being shot, stabbed and beaten they never wavered in their search for Owen. I enjoyed the interactions between Ana and Olivia, Benning’s daughter. I found these moments fun and cute.

The villain was like a pesky mosquito that would not go away. I couldn’t wait for him to get what he deserved. I had some ideas about who the identity of the villain, but I did not pinpoint anyone in particular. It was a shocker learning the identity of the mastermind behind the kidnapping. Then the twist at the end was even more of a surprise.

Despite the romance not being the major feature of the story, I had hoped for a little more development. Not that they had much time to discuss the issues that led to their break up given the circumstances.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, I enjoyed Midnight Abduction and would recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.

Midnight Abduction is part of the Harlequin Tactical Crime Division series. Each book focuses on a particular agent within that FBI department and they can be read as a standalone, each with tough case to solve.

FBI Agent Ana Ramirez is trained to look for missing persons. When she's sent back to Sevierville, Tennessee, to help find a missing six year old boy, this new case opens up a lot of past regrets and emotions for her.

Benning Reeves is a building inspector. When he finds  something incriminating inside a wall of a building, he later wakes up on the floor of his home and realizes his children have been taken. Shortly after, his daughter is found but his son is still missing. With strict instructions not to involve the police, he still reaches out to Ana for help. They had a relationship seven years prior when she was working a missing persons case in the area, until she abruptly left Benning behind with no explanation.

Now, Ana comes back to do her job, but when it becomes clear this case and her old case are connected, Ana has to put aside her feelings to do this right. The kidnapper has a heck of a lot to hide and he will do anything to stop Ana and Benning from finding out the truth.

This was an action packed mystery that I really enjoyed! It's full of intrigue and a little romance, but nothing too steamy. As a fan of the show Criminal Minds I really liked this style of crime fiction!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy and Harlequin for letting me take part in this blog tour!

I have been loving this series so far.

Midnight Abduction is a fast-paced book that kept me at the edge of my seat and kept me hooked in the story.

It is the 3rd book in the Tactical Crime Division series. You don't really need to read the previous books but I do suggest you do.

I give this 5 out of 5.
