You're taken straight into the action in this third book in the series as Ana Ramirez is told to go help retrieve twins who have been kidnapped at the direct request of their father, Benning Reeves. Benning is the man she left behind more than seven years ago but he's also the man she's never forgotten. Now she's determined to help get back the children before it is too late..... Can they rescue Owen before the kidnapper harms him? Who is the kidnapper and what do they really want? Can they bring the kidnapper to justice?

This is a suspense filled drama where you're kept guessing and on the edge of your seat. You've just got to love the precociousness of Olivia, Benning's daughter who is fascinated by true crime and wants to be a crime scene investigator or PI when she grows up! There are plenty of twists and turns in this story and both Ana and Benning keep getting injured but somehow keep on going, determined to rescue Owen - despite being shot, stabbed, falling two floors through glass and so much more! The attraction between the two is still there after all the years but finding Owen is the priority. Though other members of the team are involved in the investigation they don't have as high profile as in the earlier books. The ending is so cute!!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it to be a real page turner!

Lots and lots of action in this addition to the Tactical Crime Division. Action and danger, and a bit of second chance romance for the TCD's kidnapping and ransom specialist, Ana Sofia Ramirez. Benning and Ana have good chemistry, and I like that they both recognize that the feelings never left even if it does take a good amount of push and pull to get them both to admit it. We also get a couple of adorable kiddos to ooh and aah over, and they have some of the most adorable lines, including one scene in particular at the end. Ana is one tough cookie, at least where her job's concerned, even if she is a bit closed off to relationships, and Benning is just what she needs to round out her life. The story has great characters and a fast pace to keep readers on their toes along with the second chance romance, which is one of my favorite romance tropes. Another entertaining read in the Tactical Crime Division world.

What a great read! It was gripping, entertaining and I couldn't help rooting for the characters.
It's a complex, fast paced and action packed story that kept me on the edge till the end.
I loved the well crafted plot, the style of writing, the fleshed out characters.
I can't wait to read another instalment in this series.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A Kidnapping Reunites Lovers

Ana Ramirez walked away from Benning Reeves after a case she worked on where she lost the victim. Blaming herself, she tries to hide from relationships. That case also put her position with the Tactical Crime Division (TCD) at risk and she very much wants to rehabilitate her image.

When Benning’s twins are kidnapped, he knows Ana is the person he needs to get them back. He requests that she be the agent assigned to the case. She’ll be working undercover posing as his lover, but it’s really not a pose.

The case that Ana failed to solve still haunts her, and it appears to be related to the kidnapping of the twins. Now she needs to solve the old case as well as get the twins back before it’s too late.

This is the third book of the TCD series. However, it’s easy to read as a standalone since most of the characters don’t appear in the first two books. The story is filled with violence as both Benning and Ana experience vicious attacks. However, the romance in this book is very strong, in fact at times it threatens to become the center of the story.

This is one where it’s hard to guess what’s behind the kidnapping until the end, but the resolution is satisfying. If you like a fast pace crime novel with a strong female lead, you’ll enjoy this book.

I received this book from Harlequin for this review.

This is book 3 in the Tactical Crime Division series and this book isn’t playing around when it comes to the suspense. This is the most action packed romantic suspense book that I have ever read. Between all the brutal battles that Ramirez and Reeves have against the big bad and also dealing with their unresolved feelings for each other this book did not have a dull moment. It did feel weird at times to be having romantic moments while Reeves 6 year old son was missing but our two heroes do have a great connection notwithstanding. I also think the book was pretty well paced since there is an obvious need to find Owen, Reeve’s son, as soon as possible. There were also quite a few twists that I wasn’t expecting considering these Harlequin romances are only around 200 pages. If you are already a fan of Harlequin Intrigue romances than I think you will love this one. As will people who are in the mood for a great romantic suspense novel.

Benning Reeves twins have been kidnapped. The kidnapper wants a skull that Benning had discovered in a building he was inspecting and took for safe keeping. When Benning finds his daughter on the laying on the street, he has no where to turn except to call Special Agent Ana Ramirez with the Tactical Crime Division ( TCD).

Ana Ramirez is a expert in finding lost children. When she hears that Benning Reeves twins have been kidnapped, she must put her long lost feelings aside for him and try to find his missing children. Ana is haunted by her past and an unsolved case that ended her relationship with Benning years ago.

As Ana protects Benning and his daughter, things take a turn for the worst. Together they must race against the clock to find a killer and his son. When her unsolved case seems to tie to this investigation, they must also figure out how the two cases are connected.

This was such a fast paced crime novel and the author Nichole Severn did an excellent job of keeping the reader on the edge of their seat as the story develops. This is the third book in the Tactical Crime Division series, but it can also be read as a stand a lone novel. I absolutely loved the book and would like to thank Nichole Severn, Harlequin and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to read and review.

Benning Reeves twins were kidnapped and asked Ana Ramirez for help. They both worked on a cased back in the day that went cold and its been a while since they seen eachother. Ana will do everything she can to find and capture the person behind Bennings children kidnapping.

I love a good mystery suspense novel and this was it for me. I loved seeing how they worked on finding the missing children. I loved how cute Bennings little inquisitive daughter was she loves a good mystery and likes to act like a little detective. But there was the whole recovering the son who was still in the captors hands and anything can happen. Benning and Ana are on borrowed time and need to work quickly with the deadline approaching. I loved seeing how they worked together to keep eachother safe and get closer to helping save the child and capturing the bad guy. There was a bit a romance and what I do appreciate is that there was very little of it it didn't over power the book to make it a romance and stuck to being more of a mystery which I prefer. Overall great book I enjoyed it.

This is the first Tactical Crime Division book that I have read and the first book by this author. I liked the TCD part of the book, although I must say the whole team was not very involved in solving the case. This was more a solo act by Agent Ana Ramirez who is called to help Benning Reeves find his kidnapped children. The children were adorable and very precocious, seeming to me to be too far advanced for six year olds. Benning and Ana have a romantic history and when she is not going into action with guns, knives and whatever other weapon you can think of, she and Benning are engaged in what can only be termed as foreplay. In addition, there was a lot of blood and gore and violence so this book would not be for anyone who want a clean read. The action was non-stop but not at all believable since I was supposed to believe that Ana could take on all of the bad guys single handedly, be wounded seriously and repeatedly and keep coming back for more. The ending seemed rushed, with a fast beginning a fast middle and a rush to the finish. I liked the premise of the story, but the entire story was too much make-believe and too little realism for me. Also, I hesitate to say this, but I was put off by the author’s dedication of the book to herself at the beginning. Arrogance is never a way to impress me!

Midnight Abduction is the thid book in the brand new four book mini-series surrounding the Tactical Crime Division (TCD).

When Bennings twins are kidnapped, he turns to the one woman who can help him. Unfortunately though, Ana is also the woman who broke his heart 7 years before when she left in the middle of the night. If they are going to bring Bennings son home alive though, then they will need to work together.

Overall, Midnight Abduction was just a bit “meh”. It was ok but never really got going past ok. I think for me I don’t really like that the mini-series is written by 4 different authors. With each book you feel like you get to know the characters, but then you lose that depth when you move on to the next author. The characters you have gotten to know pop up from time to time. but there is nothing of the person you got to know in the previous books. For me, this makes them fall a little short. A shame really as I love the theory of this, but I feel like the depth is just missing.

Midnight Abduction was my first attempt at crime fiction. There was a nice build up of suspense of the abduction with plenty of action and near death experienced. It was thrilling and I loved the adrenaline rush.

However, I doubt the reality of the story. Both Benning and Ana had suffered multiple life-threatening injuries such as knife wounds, gun-shots, beatings, and head blows within three days and they were still up and running to save the missing child.

Since the book was part of the Tactical Crime Division series, I was expecting more involvement of the TCD and more team effort at solving the case. It seemed like Ana was there but didn't really do much to solve the case except putting herself into danger as punishment for her past.

The romance side of the story was tolerable but I think there was room for development. Benning and Ana were together seven years ago but Ana ghosted Benning one night. The second-chance at their relationship went too smoothly without any angst or grovelling. I find that their HEA was wrapped up too hastily.

Overall, this book was a decent read with lots of actions and suspense. Personally, I find that crime fiction is not really my cup of tea but I'll still keep my options open.

Pretty good. Fast read and some inconsistencies. But a nice HEA.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book has a great theme and plot to it although I was a little bit nervous about choosing it because of the kids involved. I don’t usually read books involving children.
The twist on this one is that the FBI agent is female and she’s the one that is going back home to help solve a case. I love a strong female lead but I ended up with many mixed feelings as I was reading the story.
Without a doubt, there’s plenty of action and the “who done it” build up is nicely structured. My problem came mainly with believe-ability of the story.
Benning was completely in love with her and she upped and left. Because of his feelings, he wants to win her back. But in the middle trying to solve a kidnapping case they are dealing with feelings and passion. At one point I felt that the story was mainly about their romantic connection and the procedural part of the case is definitely took a backseat.
The story bounced a little too much for me. I was a little put off by the fact that she really didn’t do much to solve the case and definitely did not involve her team much at all. Ana was working hard at points as she did get her ass kicked and both Benning and Ana have a super human ability to stay alive.
There’s plenty of violence in this book. They were shot, beat up, knifed, shot, blown up, beat up… I can’t tell you how many times, but still kept on going, which was admirable since she was looking for a child and trying to solve the case.
On the plus side, the ending was a complete surprise. The HEA did occur but it seemed rather abrupt and I wanted a bit more in that wrap-up portion.
While Midnight Abduction was extremely entertaining and we definitely got our action, romance, and crime fiction, yay, I just had a hard time with the believable side of the story and some of the flow. However, Severn grabbed me with this one. Her talent for crime fiction and romantic suspense is top notch!
Benning Reeves' twins are kidnapped in the middle of the night, and he requests the help of his ex, Agent Ana Sophia Ramirez of the Tactical Crime Division. She broke his heart years ago when she left abruptly to further her career, but he knows she is the one to help him. As for Ana, getting involved with him would make her lose focus, as it had on the case she couldn't solve before. But the two cases are tied together, and time is running out to discover how.
Children in danger can be a tricky plot hook because some people can't tolerate the thought of it and others are turned off by kids' presence entirely. Here, there is definitely a threat to the children, but they aren't harmed outright or tortured. Rest easy on that count. That doesn't mean there isn't action, because there is definitely plenty of that. Ana fights hard and continues even after shot, thrown through a window and struck on the head repeatedly. For that matter, Benning also continues to fight for his children as well and refuses to give up hope that he will find his son after his daughter was thrown out of a car and her safety was at risk.
The kids are clever for six years old, and Ana handles Olivia's trauma well. She's a fighter as well as Ana and Benning and tries her best to protect her family. That doesn't mean she was unaffected by the abduction and her brother, because she doesn't want to sleep alone at night and is comforted by others with her. It's a normal response to a traumatic situation, and also brings Ana and Benning back together. The clues sprinkled throughout the story at first seem like there are red herrings as well, but they do all wind up tying together at the end because Ana is clever as well. At the end, we get the closure we need as well, and it's a great way to close their story.
4.5 Stars
This is the third book in the Tactical Crime Division series in the Harlequin Intrigue imprint by Nichole Severn.
Benning Reeves lost Ava Rameriez seven years ago when she chose her job over him. Now he needs her expertise. He has twins. One girl and one boy. The mission that tore them apart is surfacing again. Benning had discovered a skull on one of his work sites. He hid it after the discovery but someone doesn't want that artifact coming out in the open again. To retialiate, the man kidnapped his son. Ava decides to assist him but seeing him again is bringing up too many memories.
The action scenes are pretty vicious here. I am not sure how they are even walking by the halfway mark. The story is action-packed. It never stops long enough for the two of them to reacquaint themselves.
I like how the thing that broke them up is what is bringing them back together again in the end. But I almost think the action is too over the top. It takes away from the emotional story that the author has built. I am not saying it is written badly. The scenes are solid and prove what a formidable force the bad guy is. I just think it is a bit over the top.
This feels like it should be a more team focused story. I missed seeing more connection to the Tactical Unit. That would make the whole plotline more cohesive.
I never usually say this but I think this story should have been longer so we can have more of every aspect.
Great read nonetheless. Definitely looking forward to more books in this series.
If you are looking for a good romantic suspense book, definitely check this one out.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
Benning Reeves is beside himself. His twin children have just been kidnapped. He begins chasing the car, despite any real hope of catching the kidnapper. Shockingly, he finds his daughter Olivia just a few minutes later. However, Owen is still missing. Why were they both taken, and how is it Olivia was released?
When the FBI hears of the kidnapping, they immediately assign the task to the Tactical Crime Division (TCD). The director tells Ana Ramirez that she will act as negotiator, although that is not her specialty. When Ana discovers that the father of the missing twins is Benning Reeves, it makes sense. The two were very close at one time. Can Benning trust Ana to get his son Owen back?
With no ransom demand it quickly becomes apparent why the children were taken. Benning realizes that the he the catalyst behind the kinapping and he must do whatever it takes to get Owen back. Every second that passes shows that time is indeed running out. Will Benning be able to pacify the kidnappers and get Owen back safely?
What a thrilling story for this third book in the Tactical Crime Division series. Although very little time is available to find Owen, Benning and Ana's old feelings for one another begin to resurface. However, just like the first two books in the series, romance takes a back seat to the taut suspense woven between the pages of this book.
I loved this book and was drawn into the drama involved when it came to finding Owen. However, both Benning and Ana reminded me of the Energizer Bunny. They literally got their butts kicked in one way or another quite a bit in this book. Yet they kept bouncing back up to stay on the chase. Other than that, I loved the book and the rest of the TCD members that were in this story. This fast-moving story fits right in with this thrilling series.
Many thanks to Harlequin Intrigue and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Midnight Abduction is the 3rd book in the Tactical Crime Division series. Once again Nicole Severn does an excellent job of pulling the reader into the book. It is very well written, and action packed and I always enjoy reading a HEA ending.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of the book from NetGalley and Harqeluin Intrigue in exchange for my fair and honest review.
Ana Ramirez and Benning Reeves have a past. When someone died on her watch she transferred to another office of the TCD without a glance back at the life she was leaving. Six years later she’s called back to the town she left – a special request from Benning – to find his two kidnapped children. Midnight Abduction is an action-packed romantic suspense. There were some violent scenes that made me cringe (and would have me closing my eyes if it was a movie) and wonder how Ana kept going. She’s a highly-trained professional though and a strong character that was easy to cheer for. This is Ana’s story but I also liked Benning. They seemed perfect for each other so, of course, I hoped for their HEA. I enjoyed the fast pace of the novel. Coming in at 256 pages it is the perfect length for when you’re in the mood for an exciting and suspenseful read.
Midnight Abduction is the third book in the Tactical Crime Division series and can easily stand alone. It’s the second book I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more.
Midnight Abduction was a great intrigue from Nichole Severn. I really enjoyed this one from page one when you're thrown into the chaos that is Ana and Benning. When Benning's six-year-old twins are kidnapped, he only knows one person to call, Agent Ana, his old fling, and the best FBI agent around.
I will say you will have to suspend reality with this book, especially if you're in the medical field, when it comes to the massive amount of fight scenes, shootings, stabbings, and hits on the head these two characters take in an attempt to save his son. I didn't deduct a star from it because the scenes generally moved the story forward, but I don't know a human on earth who can withstand the beatings these two took.
Moving on.
It is hard to review this one because of spoilers, but I will say, holy action Batman! It never stops from start to finish and you can't help but root for these two former lovers, not only to find his son but to find their way back to each other. Nichole can write an intrigue that keeps you turning the pages and never gives you a moment where you aren't wondering where this is going, who is behind it, and what's going to happen next. The HEA at the end definitely made up for all the pain and anguish you go through to get there!
If you're looking for a page-turning intrigue that will keep you up way too late into the night, definitely pick up Midnight Abduction!
