A fast paced romantic suspense that is more than meets the eye. I love it when romantic suspense books are more than meet the eye.

This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed! I recommend.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Author Dana Mentink continues this series with another nail biting suspense thriller that will keep you reading until you find the answers. And this is just what Dory Winslow is trying to do. Find the answers to what really happened with the tragic boating accident years ago. Digging up secrets that someone definitely doesn’t want her to resurface.

I have read several books by this author, and really liked them all, and this one is no different. The characters do their job as they develop well as the story unfolds. Not that I really liked them all, but for the most part most of these characters will warm their way into your heart. And even though this is the 4th book in this series, I feel it can be read just fine as a stand alone. If you enjoy a good clean thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for a while, this is the one you want!!

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Dory's ex-boyfriends father went to prison for a boating accident that lead to the death of someone. Its been a while since then and new evidence shows that there is more to what happened and its clear someone doesn't want her to keep digging up things. The ex Chad might be able to help her figure out the truth.

If you love a short mystery suspense novel you'll like this. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing the secrets unfold with every page. Dory now know theres more to that accident and is on a mission to figure out what and by whom. She could've let it go really he was her ex but she did the right thing and went to him to figure things out. Then theres that secret that Dory has been carrying around for a while and since they are now around eachother and anything could happen. Not even moment is promised so she lets him in on her secret and now theres that matter to deal with. There is plenty going on with many close calls and family drama and it was pretty great I really enjoyed it.

Love these quick and fun , easy to read types of books. I love the characters in this series and find this author’s books hard to put down. I can’t wait to see who the murderer is and see how the romance works out. These are also usually very inspirational and the characters have learned about a God’s love. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This author continues to amaze me with her ability to write a story that has intricate twists which heighten the plot. Each turn of the page draws me deeper into the lives of the main characters. I loved at the beginning when the action first started. Dory is one brave and determined woman. I’m not sure I would go traipsing after someone surrounded by steep hills and rocks barely hanging on to the sides. The first few chapters lay out what is in store for readers.
There is something not quite right with a tragedy that happened years before and Dory is about to find our how deep the betrayal was . I liked Chad and his desire to clear his father’s name. I found it ironic that Dory was trying to unravel a secret, when she had a secret of her own. I’m not sure I really liked Dory at times because she kept something very precious from someone. I loved the faith element in the story and how the characters soon realized that God was there protecting them.
Holy cow there was a lot of action going on during the story. I can’t remember how many times Dory was injured. The part that I liked was how willing Chad was to put his life on the line in order to keep Dory safe. There is a part in the story where they talk and I think it was a pivotal point where their relationship was healed. From that moment I understand Dory better. We all carry secrets that maybe we shouldn’t. In the Bible it says, “The truth will set you free.” This story is definitely an example of how the truth can heal wounds, forgive and be free from the lies of the enemy.
As I finished the book I kept thinking about the scripture, “The love of money is the root of all evil.” That very scripture is what sets off a chain of events that spread danger, lies, and greed. This is one of my favorite books the author has written. It captures your attention right away and delivers a look at what greed can do to a person.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Secrets Resurfaced is the fourth and in my opinion, best installment, in the Roughwater Ranch Cowboys series. This novel tells Chad's story. Chad happens upon Dory, his ex and also the woman who sent his father to prison. When Chad finds Dory, she is investigating the return of Blaze who was presumed dead five years ago after a tragic boating accident involving Chad's father who was held responsible for the death of Blaze and his mother. From the very beginning, it is apparent that someone does not want Dory to find the truth of what happened on that day. But just who is it? I know as a reader I kept going back and forth throughout the story and was still surprised at the end just all that was going on and who was involved! Oh and did I mention that Dory and Chad have a little girl that Chad knows NOTHING about? Will Chad and Dory be able to rekindle what they once had and become a family? You'll have to read to find out the answers to these questions and more.

As I have come to expect in a Dana Mentink novel, the story is action packed from the beginning, full of nail-biting suspense, relationships dealing with forgiveness and reconciliation, and just the right amount of romance.

This story could definitely be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read the entire series so you get to know all the men of Roughwater Ranch and you will be able to appreciate the character updates in this story.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author and Netgalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Dana Mentik has written another fabulous fast paced novel that will have you holding your breath at every twist and turn!
Some scenes will even make the hairs on the back of your neck.
A great suspense story!
I've been a fan of Mentik's for a long time and her works never disappoints me.
Sometimes though I want to shake her characters into their common sense because there are times that I feel it flies right through the window.
I think Dory's name is cute. Just like the author describes her in the story. But she's also stubborn and bull headed refusing help.
Parents tend to get on my nerves a lot! Especially in this book.
Chad is just like Dirt. Bull headed and stubborn to see what is right in front of him.
But you know what!? I really grew to love them both by the time this book was finished.
And a certain little girl stole my heart when I met her. I think her name suits her too.
I feel that God orchestrates things for a reason especially if it's in His plans.
So if it's a second chance what is there to lose? Will Dory and Chad give it a go despite the odds?
Well, you'll just have to read this awesome story by Dana Mentik to find out!
My thanks to Netgalley and the author for a complimentary copy. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

A chance sighting, brings the past to light, as Dory a private investigator works to help clear the name of her ex's father, while hiding a secret herself.

Dory finds herself working with her high school flame, as they work together to clear his father's name, while coming to terms with their past. This is a fast paced read, with a mystery that kept me wondering, the closer they get the more baffling it begins to look.

There was great tension between Dory and Chad from their shared history, and the question of where they go next. Ivy is an adorable child with a green thumb, I love how she names her plants!

Overall, this was an entertaining and solid read, with great characters, tension, mystery, and family. I loved the characters and the development of their less than perfect relationships that made the story more realistic. I also admired Dory for her faith, and how both she and Chad have changed in the years since high school. Very enjoyable read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

'He had to find out the truth. Lives hung in the balance. Lives that were beyond precious.'

Dana Mentink takes us back to the Roughwater Ranch for this fourth book in the series, featuring Chad and Dory. Chad Jaggert is the father of Dory's child, but he doesn't know that. Now Dory, a private investigator is back in the small town of Driftwood looking into a case that put Chad's father in jail for five years. But someone doesn't want the truth to get out and soon Dory's life is in danger.

Dana Mentink again proves she is very talented at her suspenseful novels. In my opinion, this is the best in the series. I read it in less than a day. I loved every minute. Recommended

"Secrets Resurfaced" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the fourth in a series, but it works as a standalone. The author tells us at the beginning how clever Dory is to be able to track down Blaze, who was presumed dead in a boating accident. However, Dory took many foolish risks during the story (mainly provoked by Chad's behavior) so she's repeatedly, melodramatically rescued by the strong, oh-I-love-being-in-his-arms-but-I-must-resist-because-he-doesn't-love-me Chad. She spent more time involved in her relationship troubles and trying to survive than in using her investigative skills to solve the mystery. The suspense came from repeated attacks on her and Chad.

Chad blamed Dory for his dad being put in prison for manslaughter even though he ought to be blaming his father's behavior. Chad told her that he never wanted to see her again. Five years later, he accidentally showed up as she's tracking Blaze, which put her in danger. He took his anger out on her and generally treated her like she's too stupid to come up with a good solution and kept trying to take charge of her operations and promptly messing them up, putting everyone in danger. What a catch! But he's the father of Dory's daughter, he's a little bit more talkative than he used to be, and she still loves him. I had a hard time seeing this as a positive relationship, though.

Chad had to get over his anger with Dory and come to appreciate the more mature woman that she's grown into. Dory practiced forgiveness because she's a Christian. There was no sex or bad language.
