This book was a fun ride that had me guessing what was going to happen next throughout the whole book. My feelings towards certain characters shifted throughout the book as more of the details were revealed. There were a few times where I was slightly confused on the plot because it seemed to go back and forth on specific details leaving me a little confused as to what was truth. But that may have been the point to make you unsure and keep you guessing. There was a plot line that I felt kind of fell off and was over rather quickly for how much it was built up throughout the book. I love that just when I thought I had the ending all figured out, the last few lines were mind blowing and left me speechless. Overall, a fun, quick read. The author does a great job of building the story and keeping you engaged. This is going to be a good summer/beach read.

This was a very good book. I believe the writing style of the author is very good.
During a family meal, a guest shows up saying that she is the half sister of Lauren and Kate. She is trying to connect with her family or so that is what she wants them to think.
There are many twists and turns in this book and it was not until almost the end that I figured out the ending.
Will highly recommend this book to friends and other readers.

The Alexander family's world is turned upside down when a young woman asserts that she is their relative--a half sister to the Alexander siblings. Adult sisters Kate and Lauren are shaken to the core by this allegation. After all, they are still coming to terms with the death of their father, prominent divorce lawyer Harry Alexander the year before, and the strain it has put upon the relationships between the sisters and their mother, Rose.
Who is Jess, and is her familial claim authentic? Can the family survive the search for the truth?
As this gripping, suspenseful tale unfolds, long-buried secrets emerge. Each family member knows more than they are willing to disclose, and readers must decide who is trustworthy as details of the past are made known. Each newly revealed clue creates yet another twist to the story, creating many false leads as readers try to piece the intricate puzzle together. When the truth is finally laid bare, will the family be drawn closer together or torn apart? This page-turning novel provides breathtaking thrills from beginning to end.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC.
This was a super fast read - albeit pretty tame until the last 10%. That’s not to say it wasn’t worth while...just, not much happened. I kept waiting for the twist, for the oh my gosh! moment. But it really never came. I think if more clues or hints had been interlaid throughout the whole book, the twist would have seemed more plausible. But, honestly, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This book had a really interesting premise, but the execution of the story was very disjointed. I know I should not compare books but this story felt nothing like the writing that Ms. Jones gave us in The First Mistake.
Kate and Lauren are sisters who are shocked one day when a woman shows up at their parent's house and proclaims she is their half sister. Initially they as well as their mother seem very shocked with this news, but the longer the story slogged on, the more obvious it became that none of these women were surprised at all, each of them having secrets from the past that get revealed along the way.
There are twists and turns throughout that Kate, who is a reporter, investigates with the determination of a bulldog. But the way they are revealed to the reader just felt so nonsensical, and I had a hard time getting on board with most of this story. It felt like it dragged along for quite some time, until things finally ramped up and got a little bit exciting at the end. Like the very end, really, which felt like a little too late.
I predicted the ending pretty quickly in the book, and it felt like a chore almost to make it to the end to see if I was correct. I'm bummed that I didn't enjoy this story as much as I did The First Mistake, but this will not deter me from looking forward to the next release from Ms. Jones.
Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an advance review copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Jess arrives one day wanting to see her father. The trouble is no one knows about her and her father passed away. The family is divided if they believe her or not. As they dig into things, many secrets are uncovered.
I enjoyed this book. I have read Sandie Jones’ books before and love her style of writing. I don’t want to spoil the ending but I did not see it coming!

Aamazing! Sandie Jones always keeps me on the edge of my seat during her domestic thrillers! This one was no exception. I love how connected I felt to the characters and the family. I can’t wait to see what she writes next!

Having read Jones’s other two novels, this was my least favorite...though I will say I flew through it, because I was dying to know how it all would end. Though it’s billed a thriller, I would call it more of a family drama, with a giant mystery. The characters constantly withheld information from each other or outright lied, which became a bit tiresome to read. I also still found myself questioning why certain things happened, that were not explained in the end, leaving several holes. On top of that it ended very abruptly, leaving loose ends tied up almost too easily. I’m still glad I read this one though, as it kept me engaged, and I will continue to read Jones’s future novels.

Each Sunday, since the death of their father, the two daughters , Lauren and Kate, and their families go to their mother’s house for lunch. One day, a woman shows up and says she is their sister, and from then on it is clear , this family has many secrets. As more and more secrets are revealed, the family unit unravels more and more.
The story is told by two points of view, Lauren’s and Kate’s . At the beginning of the book, they resent each other and by the end a true sisterhood has formed.
I have not read anything else from this author, but will make point of doing so now.
I enjoyed this read and would highly recommend it.
Thanks to net galley for the advanced copy.

This book kind of hits a bit home for me. Not in the way most would thing. My mom was adopted and a DNA test kit is how we found some of her biological family♡
That being said thankfully it wasn't a crazy ride after that. This book will keep you guessing. Even when you think you know.... you don't.
I can't wait for another Sandie Jones book!
Thanks #netgalley!

Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Sandie Jones has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed all of her books and this was no exception. The Half Sister was gripping from the beginning. I thought I had the book figured out only to be surprised. It’s nice to be surprised when so many books are so predictable. I found the characters interesting and well-developed. I wanted to finish the book and at the same time slow down so I could enjoy it longer. That, to me, is the sign of a good book. I highly recommend it and look forward to her next book!

Thank you @Netgalley and @stmartins for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
What would you do if you found out you had a sibling you didn't know existed?
Sisters Lauren and Kate are shocked when they get a knock on the door during their weekly family lunch one Sunday afternoon. A woman named Jess showed up claiming to be their half sister and the daughter of their late father.
Kate doesn't believe her dad would ever have an affair and Lauren is open to getting to know her new sister.
When Kate starts digging into Jess's past she may discover some things she didn't want to know...
My thoughts:
The first 60-70% of this book is a slow burn. It was a quick read but lacked a lot of twists until you get closer to the end.
I couldn't put it down when I got near the end but I was also disappointed. I wish the author would have further developed the last part of the book. I would liked to have seen more information on that very last twist of the last chapter. I felt like it ends with a taste of what you really came for but you have to imagine the rest.
The Half Sisters Pub Day is June 16th!

Loved this book. Sandie Jones books are always great. It’s about a girl using DNA to try to find her family and you won’t believe the ending.

The Half Sister is about a family who's Father/Husband has died recently. A woman shows up claiming she was his daughter and throws a wrench in the whole family dynamic. Lauren, one of the sisters, did an online genealogy test which is how "Jess" found them. So, Lauren believes Jess whole-heartedly because she has the facts. Her sister Kate thinks Jess is making it all up and cannot believe that her Father would cheat on her Mom. More and more things come about to make Kate believe Jess is obsessed with their family and has purposely come around to mess Kate's life up. There are so many twists, turns and secrets. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and piqued my interest the entire time. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great mystery and thriller. This book is definitely a 5/5 for me.

All families have problems but this is the story of how much deeper those problems run we know. Kate is missing her father fiercely and jealous of her sister and her children while she has tried to get pregnant for years. Lauren can tell her family has drifted apart since their father died. Feeling trapped in a relationship that isn’t what it seems and desperate she uploads her dna to maybe reconnect to a long last cousin and instead finds a half sister, Jess. But there’s more to jess than first appears but will they figure out what secrets were long buried in time? I loved this twisty thriller. The characters were realistic and the story compelling. Once I got going I had a hard time putting this one down!

Months after Kate and Lauren's father's death, a young woman shows up claiming to be his illegitimate daughter causing a rift between the two sisters and their mother as well. Story was okay with a few interesting twists, but I couldn't really get attached to any of the characters.

Hmmmmm I loved Sandie Jones's previous books but in my opinion this one left stuff to be imagined. It was a good story w/OMG twists and I didn't want it to end but at times it seemed like some questions weren't getting answered. Overall I did enjoy this book immensely. Our key players are Lauren(sister), Kate(sister), & their mother Rose. Their father recently passed away and they are dealing with their grief of that while living their daily lives. This unknown woman comes into their mists claiming to be their father's illegitimate daughter. This woman opens up a couple of cans of worms in this family. Ones the two daughters had no idea about!!!!!!!! Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books for my honest review

The chapters told in alternating points of view helped to connect the reader to each character and to the story. I liked the different twists and turns it took which kept me guessing until the end

Ok so this ending though 🤯 I did not see that coming! I thought I had pieced it together but I was not ready!! Kate is desperate to get pregnant and her sister Lauren has three children and a rocky marriage and both of them, and their mother Rose, are still trying to deal with their father/husbands sudden death just months ago. As the story unfold we see the power of facades and how people often see what they want to believe in each other and other people’s lives without seeing what is really there. Part mystery, part family drama and part societal drama this book is not one to miss!

Let me first say that I really enjoyed The Other Woman by Sandie Jones. However, I didn’t enjoy this book.
I am going to just list the things I liked and didn’t because I have been struggling with this review. I really wanted to enjoy this book.
I liked Kate, I really wanted to keep hearing her story, which was the focus during the first part of the book. The story had potential, it was interesting and engaging.
However, this was a book based in science and genetics and the author didn’t get it right. I was bothered by it A LOT. I didn’t connect with Lauren or the other characters. I found the writing to be bogged down with too many unnecessary details.
The twist was predictable and I saw it coming. This just wasn’t the book for me.
Overall, this was 2 stars for me.
