I have to start by saying that I absolutely loved The Other Woman by Sandie Jones, but this book just didn't land for me. I enjoyed the family dynamic, but the characters were flat. Unfortunately, I just didn't care. I will continue to read other books by this author, but this just wasn't the right fit.

Loved this read!! Relatable characters and story lines with unpredictable twists and turns. Whenever you think you can guess what's going to happen or who your main suspect is, the rug is pulled from under your feet which is the greatest thing a thriller reader can experience!

This book kept me guessing the whole time. Just when I thought I knew how it would end there would be a new little revelation. I wouldn't classify this story as a thriller, but more of a family drama/mystery. Although I wouldn't say it was "unputdownable" I did look forward to picking it up each time to find out what happens next. I would have liked to see the ending explained a little differently. It felt rushed to me.

I loved The Other Woman and The First Mistake by Sandie Jones so I was really excited to be able to read The Half Sister. While it didn't have quite the suspense I was expecting, it was still an enjoyable read and I would recommend it.

This book was just good. I definitely liked The Other Woman better. The twist at the end was predictable. I was expecting a lot more from Sandie Jones. But I will definitely keep reading her works. I give it 4 stars

The Half sister tells the story of Lauren and Kate, sisters who have their lives turned upside down with a mysterious supposed half sister shows up at their Sunday dinner. Is she really who she says she is?

This book was solid from beginning to end. It was had to try to determine if Jess was real or not real. I enjoyed the family drama of it all but the book could have been a little shorter in the middle and the ending could have been drawn out a little longer. The pacing was not my favorite but the story itself was good. I saw alot of myself in Kate and I loved her for it. This book was entertaining and exactly what I needed when I read it.

After the death of the patriarch of the family, Rose (the wife), Kate, and Lauren (the daughters) vow to keep Sunday dinners the same to keep their family connection strong. That family connection is instantly broken one Sunday afternoon when Jess stumbles into their lives claiming she is their half sister. The 23 and me nightmare, long lost family members connected by DNA.

The Half Sister is written from the two completely opposite view points of the daughters trying to understand and come to terms with Jess's entrance into the life and their long fractured relationship between them. Lauren is quick to believe Jess is who she says she is, and Kate is convinced that she's not who she says she is.

This book was unpredictable and I was actually pretty surprised I wasn't able to figure it out before it wrapped. While it was an enjoyable book, it did take me a while to get into it. For that reason only, I'm giving this book four stars.

I was lucky enough to get a free copy of The Half Sister from St. Martin's Press & Minotaur Books in exchange for this review, but all thoughts are my own and I'd recommend you give this book a read if you are at all interested in messy family dynamics and family secrets being uncovered by DNA.

This book was wonderful, full of twists and unpredictable turns until the last moments. Sandie Jones has become an auto-buy author for me, and this tale did not disappoint! Long-held secrets, sister entanglement, DNA tests, shocking drama… Highly recommend!

This was the first book I've read by this author, and I really enjoyed it. It was the perfect amount of intrigue/mystery/thriller that I love. I sincerely hope this author writes more books because I know I'll be first in line to read them.

With DNA testing so readily available, The Half Sister is a nightmare that could happen to anyone. I felt like all of the sisters, husbands and mother were all so unreliable. I felt that each one of them knew exactly why the half sister showed up. I loved how it kept me guessing throughout the whole book. I finished it in two days, just needing to know what was going to happen!!

Lauren and Kate are sisters who meet up with their mother for lunch every Sunday. It is their way of staying connected after their father, the glue of their family, died suddenly. Lauren and Kate don't have the best relationship and they are both dealing with their own stuff, but they still want to keep up appearances for their mother. One Sunday they are at their mother's for lunch when the doorbell rings. The woman at the door claims to be their half-sister. Will the sisters be able to get to the truth? Is this woman really their half-sister?

Lauren and Kate are not exactly close sisters who have very different opinions of their late father. They both didn't realize the truths of each other's lives. Like Kate was struggling with infertility and Lauren's marriage was not exactly happy. I thought it was sad and I felt bad for both of them that their relationship was not a good one. Their mother seemed odd to me from the very beginning. She just didn't seem warm and fuzzy. It is eventually revealed why and I can't say that it was a surprise.

Bottom Line - The Half Sister did not really live up to my expectations. I have enjoyed other books by Sandie Jones, but this one just didn't grab me.

What a crazy, dysfunctional family! The twists and high intensity drama just keep on with this and it was deliciously wicked. A fast, entertaining read!

I really enjoyed the first Sandie Jones novel that I read (The Other Woman), but this one fell a little flat for me in terms of the plot. The ending didn't really have the twist that I was hoping for, and sometimes I felt like I was having trouble connecting with the two sisters. This one had been sitting on my e-shelf for awhile, and though it wasn't the read that I was anticipating, I will still likely read her other upcoming novels. Thrillers for me are an escape, and I always look towards this genre when I am looking for a quick read, or to get myself out of a reading funk. I do enjoy Jones's short chapters as I feel like it helps progress the story, but I finished this one hoping for more.

This is another twisty thriller story. You know dad’s dead and mom doesn’t talk about things when a “half sibling” shows up on your door. It was a fine read.

Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for the advanced e-reader copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
