Late last summer I bought my first home, and I’ve been looking forward to my first growing season all year. That’s why I was so excited to see Regrow Your Veggies by Melissa Raupach - a fun, budget-conscious DIY perfect for cash-strapped new homeowners like me! At first glance, Regrow Your Veggies is an eye-catching volume with lovely photography, illustration and layout designs. It’s also packed with information—inside you’ll find the basics on gardening and helpful recommendations on essential things like lighting, soil conditions, etc. You’ll also find instructions on regrowing 20+ common kitchen vegetables and herbs, including some of my favorites like beets, sweet potatoes, scallions, and romaine lettuce as well as some interesting left-field additions like ginger, galangal, and horseradish. This stuff is all great. Where the book suffers, however, is the writing and editing. Many of the entries here read more like a blog post than an informational book—with grammar to match. I’m not sure whether the book is suffering from poor translation? However there are also instances where sentences simply stop in the middle, or otherwise are not complete. I’m hoping this is an issue with layout and is something that has been fixed in the final, for-sale product!

A good informative book with photo images to show you how to save money, how to recycle vegetables and fruits by growing your own food from ‘left overs’. A handy title for those who cannot get to the shops often, or who need to stretch their food longer. Also. Seriously ecologically friendly outlook on food and waste.

I loved this book! This book had beautiful photos and very clear instructions on how to regrow veggies from scraps. I used to to successfully sprout celery and am now looking at every item in the supermarket as something I can grow myself in my kitchen windowsill for free. There were so many different plants I didn't even know you could propagate from cuttings! Each plants section had so much information about lighting, watering and soil needs. I especially enjoyed the final sections dealing with growing issues you may have (pests, diseases, etc), as I am new to growing plants and oftentimes can't quite figure out what the problem is. The photos really helped and this is a book I would love to have a hardback copy of to keep in my kitchen library.

I was provided with this book by NetGalley with the understanding that I would give an honest review.

This book was a pleasant surprise; informative and educational without bring preachy.. there are several plants that can be regrown to provide food time and time again. This book shows you how. There are wonderful illustrations and the step by step guide for each vegetable makes it easy. I'm looking forward to trying a few.

I was instantly attracted to this because I love to propagate plants but have never propagated veggies. I was shocked to find out about all the veggies we can regrow. I also loved the tips section if certain things happen to your regrowing plants.

When I saw Regrow Your Veggies I knew it would be great for the current climate we’ve found ourselves in with a pandemic.
To be completely honest, it’s actually much better than I expected it to be. It not only covers veggies but fruit and herbs too. It’s filled with well written care instructions from light, warmth and soil to humidity and overwintering. It even goes in to what to do if you get pests or other cultivating problems eg sunburn.

With the schools currently closed, I plan to use this book for science experiments with my daughter, it’s going to be great to teach her how to regrow our veggies!

A beautiful little book with an interesting concept. In any case it's educational, well written and with very good illustrations. If regrowing is really worth the effort is an other question, but sustainability and freshness are of course important. As there are many similar plants, there is some unnecessary repetition.
A few parts in my digital copy were not translated.

Easy to follow and step-by-step. As we are getting ready to plant a garden and work on becoming more self-sustaining, and this book provides every bit of information needed to regrow many of our vegetables from the remaining cuttings. Definitely recommend as a good gift for people who are working on their carbon footprint as well.
