Jerry Brown is someone who I admire tremendously but I felt this biography was sort of workman like. Never got me stirred up about the man or politician. A good book. But not a great biography.

Author Jim Newton does an excellent job of painting a portrait of the California that defined and created Jerry Brown in this noteworthy biography. MAN OF TOMORROW does a good job of placing Brown within his environment and essential influences. Brown has always been a difficult character to know: equal parts quixotic idealist and unbelievably pragmatic. This is a good California political history book for any reader.
