A for Asylum is an abecedarium regarding im/migration in the United States. Each chapter focuses on a particular word (e.g., "asylum"), starting with a narrative, which is then proceeded by a discussion of the epistemological violence behind the chapter’s title/word. Written in accessible language [and both English and Spanish], A for Asylum is an informative reference book. Readers also have the choice to read the chapters in any order they choose. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more and/or read stories about immigration.

Note: I received an ARC via Netgalley, was one of thousands of Al Otro Lado's volunteers, and am a Staff Attorney at one of the organizations listed in the "Resources for People on the Move" appendix.
