The Lazy Genius Way was overall pretty good. I think I would have enjoyed it more as an audiobook but I generally like these types of books as an audiobook. I liked a lot of the messages in The Lazy Genius Way. Some of the stories were very much my everyday life. If you want a book that is simple way to approach life, then this book is for you.

I read this book on a whim. I don’t often do that. I usually regret it. Not this time!

I’m in a season where I needed this book: new mom, working mom, and, uh, pandemic! Everything’s shifted around, under, above, beside, and even in me.

So this book came at the perfect time. Decide once and eliminate decision fatigue? Yes, please. Set some things on autopilot so I can focus on what matters to me? Sign me up!

With an engaging, personable writing style, Kendra gets right to the point in the signature Lazy Genius way that her blog and podcast audience will recognize and new readers (like me!) will quickly love. I recommend this book for gals like me in new seasons in need of all the life hacks!

@thelazygenius gives us a set of thirteen principles, not an instructional manual per se, but a way of thinking that you can apply to any problem that arises; it’s universal.

I read this a couple of weeks ago when I was completely sick and could not to get out of bed for two days. It was the perfect read for that moment (especially the chapter on rest! Which was probably my favorite.)

Friends, this book is LOVELY. Just like Kendra and her podcast. It is a pep talk and a hug from a wise friend. Full of encouragement and real solutions showing you how to be a genius about what matters (to you) and lazy about the things that don’t. I cannot recommend it enough!

I am new in the lazy genius way community and i am loving it. A few weeks ago I heard a friend talking about this book and how much it had helped her, and the title really got me. I have to confess I did not know what to expect from this book. Once started reading it I realised this book is not like a "chicken soup" that will give you a temporary solution, this amazing book really helps you to identify what matters in your life and in the season where you are in right now. It has been a great tool for me, especially in this season where there are so many uncertain things going on. I am learning to be genius and give the attention to what really matters and be lazy for those things that are not really important. Its a book that's very easy to read and fun! A must read if you get overwhelmed and frustrated with the "to do" list that never seems to end.

I have been listening to Kendra's podcast for such a long time and love all of her tips. This book made me feel seen and when I feel so overwhelmed trying to figure all the things out it gives me a way to lazy genius everything in my life. I loved the personal touches and part of the reason I love Kendra so much is it feels like a good friend that gives you all the greatest advice and also doesn't pretend that everything is perfect and easy

This is the book I didn't know I needed! I've listened to Kendra's podcast for about a year and starting by naming what matters has changed my life, but just having read this book has inspired me to reread it (likely skimming) as a workbook, with a journal, a nice beverage, and some time to really work through the 13 principles. Kendra doesn't tell you what to do, but how to think about it, so these principles truly apply to everyone, if you take the time and effort to work through them (which isn't much because one of the principles is to start small). And y'all the steps she suggests to start applying the principles are SO simple (but not start on vacation simple, which is why I'm going to reread with a journal).

This book is the bees knees. Kendra's voice has spoken to me through podcasts, blog posts, and most recently her pizza sauce, tomato soup, spaghetti sauce, and Change-Your-Life-Chicken recipes. So it was a no-brainer to sign up and be apart of this launch team. It is no accident that this book is launching at a time where we're social distancing, quarantining, and wearing masks and just overall doing life differently. I so enjoyed the simple steps and easy suggestions Kendra writes about. Also, that last chapter...so perfect and the best way to wrap it all up. Thank you Kendra.

Kendra has given women the ability to streamline systems that would normally cause them stress and anxiety. Instead of encouraging perfection, she teaches us how care about the things that matter and give ourselves grace about the things don't. With each new chapter you will be able to let get preconceived ideas of how you think you should be doing things right and learn how to navigate through the craziness of life with more ease and peace.

I love the term “Lazy Genius.” As author Kendra Adachi uses it here, “lazy” is not an uncomplimentary adjective meaning “doesn’t do any work” or “doesn’t get anything done.” Instead, “lazy” refers to someone who prefers to work smarter, not harder.
The chapters in this book are packed with tips, strategies, and ideas – so bring your pencil and planner and prepare to think about how and why you do the things you do. The habits, how-tos, and routines that end each chapter will inspire you to make changes and celebrate what you’re already doing well.

(From Good Reads)Kendra Adachi, the creator of the Lazy Genius movement, invites you to live well by your own definition and equips you to be a genius about what matters and lazy about what doesn't. Everything from your morning routine to napping without guilt falls into place with Kendra's thirteen Lazy Genius principles.

My Review:

I am going to write only the first part of my review because I don't think I have any particular thought /emotional journey while reading it!
This book may be a very clever, genius (maybe lazy genius) to someone but for me, it's very average, bland, and not living up to my hope. All the principles and steps to attain it were already followed by me (I knew it sounds too true to be true)and so I felt nothing special about it . I knew it seems like boasting but they are very easy learning techniques and I am sure most of us already found out and following them without realizing we can write it down as a book! I would appreciate that she thought about them and pen down all her learnings so that others could follow them! I admire that but the book lacks the fire, and lagging in engagement! couldn't read it continuously without feeling bored! it's very practical and so very boring! But if you want some life hacks in a more practical way it would be appealing to you and so I recommend it!

If you need practical & easy-to-understand steps for getting through the mess of your life, your home, or your work life, Kendra is the gal for you. I say Kendra like she is my friend, but I feel like she is because that is how she talks to your through her book. She has a simple, smack-your-head approach to clearing out the stuff that is consuming your time when it shouldn’t and making space for the stuff that brings you joy. I’ve followed her on social media and through her podcast for a while now and I am a much better person for it. When Kendra speaks, I listen.

Through thirteen principles, Kendra helps you realize what matters in your life and what doesn’t. Even though none of those things are the same for all of us, she offers the right questions to ask yourself and the tools to find the answers we need to move forward to creating a routine, handling the toy tornado, getting a good night’s sleep, or tackling that major project you’d had on your list forever. Whatever it is for you, the principles are applicable.

I resonated the most with her “Start Small” and “Ask the Magic Question” principles. Kendra states that “small steps get you unstuck.” I’ve been stuck in establishing a nighttime routine and nothing seems to work, mostly because I think I’m trying to add too many things at once. Instead, I’m trying to add one new thing, then once I feel comfortable add in a new thing from my ultimate list of things I’d like to be a part of my nighttime routine. Part of that involves that magic question, “what can I do now to make life easier?”. Applying that question to my nighttime routine helps me prioritize what is important to do to help me relax and get a good night’s sleep while also making my mornings easier.

These are just a couple of the many tips I took from THE LAZY GENIUS WAY. I feel like clearing out what doesn’t matter and focusing on what does makes so much sense. That may seem daunting to think about, but when you use each of the principles, you realize that you should have been doing this all along. Stress, anxiety, clutter, meal planning, work-life, housework, whatever your concerns, can be alleviated by adapting Kendra’s principles.

The Lazy Genius Way is an invaluable book for anyone falling on the spectrum of overwhelm, whether only slightly or seriously. This book is a humorous, realistic offering that shows you, step-by-step, how small changes, unique to your life, can create a radical difference. Laugh and feel understood as you read. Apply even one of the Lazy Genius principles and be amazed at the positive changes.

From Kendra, "You don't have to be perfect, and you don't have to give up. You simply get to be you." (And she shows you how!)

"Be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't."

"The Lazy Genius principles will help you learn not only what needs a shortcut but also how to create one. They will teach you how to notice what matters, and carve out important space in your day to nurture growth in those ares."

The most revolutionary item I took away from this delight of a book was what Kendra calls the "Magic Question"-buy the book to find out what it is, but basically it has helped me figure out the next best/right thing to do. This book is going to be a reference book. Something I pull out when I feel stuck. I devoured this book in the first reading and will go back to it again and again as I started implementing one idea at a time. The idea which works best for me at this moment.

This book is a game-changer! Kendra’s principles aren’t just hacks that work for her or some perfect type-A list-making, organizing, Marie Kondo personality. She shares principles to start your wheels turning and ask yourself questions about what matters to you and how you can create successful systems to get stuff done and enjoy your life. Then she gives you the permission to graciously say goodbye to the pressures of caring about stuff that is not important to you. Welcome to being a Lazy Genius

She has guidelines that can be applied to any life situation and help you focus on what really matters while cutting out what doesn't. No one has time for everything and Kendra helps you figure out your priorities and spend time doing what you really love. As a homeschooling momma, this is sp important for me! Reading her book really inspired me and gave me direction on how I can make our home a happier and healthier place! I also was introduced to her podcast after reading this book and it is FABULOUS! A great read during a time when many people are looking to streamline activities in and around the home. I found the book to be comical and vulnerable, Kendra's words felt like advice from a friend. As an educator, I found that the principle of "decide once" was really applicable to me personally and professionally.

I'm a huge fan of the Lazy Genius podcast and couldn't wait to get my hands on the book, so I jumped at the chance to read the book. Like all of Kendra's work, the book is beautifully executed, clever and concise. She explains her principles in a way that makes it easy for us to apply to a variety of challenges. For example, on the heels of reading it, my husband and I unexpectedly had to shop for a used car. I felt overwhelmed with the options and frustrated that I could not find a vehicle that met all of my criteria, was within our price arrange and and available within the time frame we needed it. Kendra's favorite principle "Name what matters" helped me to recognize what was most important to me under the circumstances and move forward confidently with a decision. As a reader who shares Kendra's faith, I also appreciate how she connects having a personal relationship with a loving Creator to greater peace and clarity in everyday life.

Kendra has the best theories on how to tackle life. Be a genius about things you need to be and lazy about those you don't. I have been following Kendra for over a year on Instagram and listening to her podcast about the same amount of time. Buying her book was an automatic yes in my mind bc it meant having her tips handy on my bookshelf. I could flag and highlight away to remind myself. This book will be a yearly read to refresh my brain and adjust methods to fit current life. While we are in a unique time right now with COVID-19, Kendra's book actually offers help like she knew this was coming. But really she didn't but her tips work in all situations of life. They remind you to focus on the important and simplify in ways that work for you. I promise I'm not giving away all the goods here so go read it for yourself and you won't be disappointed. I also recommend following her on social media and listening to her podcast. They are all great tools to help you be a lazy genius.
