I actually ended up DNFing this book. I wanted to love it, but just never really connected with the hero or the heroine, I love romantic suspense stories, so this made me very sad.

A SEAL at Heart is an in-depth view into the life of a SEAL through Elizabeth's perceptive writing. While the plot jumped around quite a bit, and became redundant at times, I did enjoy the over-all story-line. The ending fell flat for me, I was expecting something more explosive, but all-in-all A SEAL at Heart was an okay read for me. I'm not sure if I'll be continuing with the series, but military romance fans may want to give this one a try.

Jack, a Navy Seal, was wounded in a mission gone wrong. He is unable to remember what happened. Without those memories, Jack cannot be reactivated. Laurie is a physical therapist that uses massage, among other holistic treatments to help her clients. She is the catalyst that helps Jack remember. Together they uncover the truth.

In A Seal at Heart, we see a lot of the world of Seal life and death. Miss Elizabeth goes beyond a story about a mission and delves into all aspects of what it means to be a Seal. I found this very interesting and appreciated the authenticity.

I didn’t always follow what was happening in the story. The flow got obstructed a few times. I found the story got somewhat long for me. There were some redundant parts that I wanted to skim over. I didn’t do that, but the feeling was there.

I enjoyed the overall plot. I especially liked the main characters. They are very real. They don’t always say or do the right thing and are very human. I could easily relate to them.

I didn’t figure out the “who-done-it” part of the story beforehand. Compared to the buildup, the explanation was a tad on the weak side. I was expecting to be blown out of the water when the truth was revealed. I wasn’t. However, the pieces fit and it worked in the end.

Anne Elizabeth has written several other novels. I plan on checking out more of her work.
