First, I want to thank Rona Halsall, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

One Mistake by Rona Halsall’s book that I think many could relate to in a few situations. Matt lost his job and his wife was willing to do anything to help him.

Rona did a great job creating tension and bringing out all of the emotions regarding the frustrating time. My heart went out to him at one point that he lost job. It really put a strain on them.

This is one book that had a title and cover change prior to release date. I thought both covers were good. However, I really liked the original one with the title.

Ezra pulled on my heart strings big time. He is the cutest little kid speaking like a little kid. Loved how much he loved his Mommy.

There was a lot of secrets, twists and turns in this book.

One mistake that’s all it took , one mistake and the life she had built up would become one based on lies and deceit. Sara feels cornered when her husband loses his job and starts to make plans with money they don’t have. Unable to reveal her truths to him she makes a life changing choice which leads her accept help from her boss in exchange for favours from her. It’s these favours that blow up in her face and she must do what she can to retrieve all that is lost. The plot line is multi faceted which the author has crafted into a gem of a novel. It gets you thinking what would i do in her shoes ?. As the facets are polished up and revealed you get a sense of the craftiness of the author. She keeps you not only guessing but adds in out of the blue didn’t see that coming moments that leave you almost breathless. It’s tense, its empowering in letting the lead character take back control of her life and it keeps you reading in anticipation of how she will succeed. A fabulous read from an author that keeps delivering what the audience want in a great book.

One Mistake (previously I Owe You) is a Domestic Thriller by Rona Halsall. This book took me about 100 pages to really get into it and after that I couldn't put it down. This intriguing story is about Sarah, a Mum who works at a community centre, and the big mistake she makes. Soon the effects of her mistake start to effect her family. Sarah then finds that her family can't be trusted and the lies start to build up. Can she trust her twins, her sister, her boss or her husband? Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital copy.

Rona Halsall is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors as once again she has excelled because One Mistake is a great psychological thriller.Sara is married to Matt and all is well until he loses his job and their marriage starts to crumble under the stress with the debts mounting and 3 children to look after ,but Matt then starts up his own IT business and things start to look up but by then Sara has done a stupid thing and she is debt to James who she works with and .her life seems to be spiralling out of control as things go from bad to worse for Sara.It is a very good read as are all Rona Halsall's books and i look forward to her next book with anticipation . A great 5 star read for me that left me turning the pages well into the night.

One Mistake is a new psychological thriller by Rona Halsall. It follows Sara a mother of three and wife to Matt who has recently lost his job. Matt asks Sara if he can use her inheritance from her aunt to start up his own business. Of course Sara agrees there's just one problem....she no longer has it. Her boss at work offers her a deal that could solve all her issues but at what price? Before she knows it things are spinning out of control and she doesn't know how to dig herself out.

This was a fast paced psychological thriller that was fairly entertaining to read. I felt that Rona Halsall wrote the perspective of a former housewife who has become frustrated with her role and wants more out of her life really well. Sara was a very well developed character.

Matt on the other hand is very manipulative and controlling. Some might say it's his old school upbringing but it really grates on me the wrong way how her shuts Sara down any time she talks about what she wants. It's constantly all about Matt and his needs.

The writing is the only real reason I finished this book. I got increasingly frustrated as the book went on. I feel that if they would have just communicated healthily with each other, all of this would have been avoided. Like own up to your mistakes and just talk to each other.

That being said I can see how other people who don't read a lot of psychological thrillers like I do could enjoy this book. The writing has an addicting quality to it and it really captures your attention. I recommend people to try it out for themselves.

One mistake......is all it takes.

"She'd thought she was solving a problem, but she had in fact created a monster."

How many times have you messed up and tried to fix it by making more mistakes? In the end, it turns into an even bigger mess. That is the theme of this book and although most of us haven't lost our way like this we can all sympathise with this character.
I found it to be a quick and enjoyable read. Sometimes I felt she was just too gullible and I felt like giving her a good shake so that she can grow some balls!
I did enjoy the style of writing and will look out for more books by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. While this book had me intrigued I was somewhat disappointed as the story developed. The main character seemed a little gullible, and I did not gel with the character. The whole plot involving sex abuse, fraud and blackmail seemed a little outlandish. This one was not for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review, One Mistake, by: Rona Halsall.

A great psych thriller of domestic suspense. I was captivated from the first chapter to the end of the book eager to see all the plot twists and turns.

I highly recommend this book.

Buckle up, this one is a doozy! It started as a typical psych thriller but then went all different directions that I didn’t expect. I liked seeing how Sara grew a backbone (although it didn’t always turn out how she hoped). I also thought the dynamic between Sara and her sister was interesting and unexpected – it wasn’t always sunshine. There were more than a few twists that I did not see coming and the resolutions were satisfying. I highly recommend this one. This is a psychological thriller that I flew through in one day because I just couldn't put it down!

I loved this book. It is well written with a great cast of characters, some you will love and some you will love to hate.

If you are looking for a book that has lots of twists and turns and has you on the edge of your seat then look no further.

Highly recommended and 5 shiny stars from me.

Oh my days! Another dark and deceptive read that kept me hooked! Rona Halsall created a world where the reader questions everything and then dropped in a few OMG-moments to blow our minds! Highly recommended!

I did not find this story totally believable. There is not enough explanation as to why some of the bad decisions were made and I felt that Matt was not a likeable person from the start. The whole story just seemed too contrived.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

😊 Rona Halsall writes an incredibly good psychological thriller. One Mistake follows Sara, who grew up in care and wants nothing more than to be able to keep her children safe. Mother to her two teenage daughters, Sophie and Amelia, and gorgeous four-year-old son Ezra, she has been happily married to Matt for eighteen years. One day, Matt announces that he has lost his job, but Sara knows she can keep the family afloat... if she can work out where the money will come from. When her boss offers her a possible answer she considers the opportunity, but will trusting him be her greatest mistake?

I couldn't wait to get started on One Mistake and what unfolded was an extremely tense and suspenseful tale. The characters were expertly drawn and believable in their roles, the writing assured and vigorous. Rona Halsall was able to create a wonderful tone of foreboding that continued until the very last page, and frankly, I found the novel impossible to put down. It was a taut, mesmerising story chock-a-block with secrets, lies and deceit although not all instances were borne of evil intention.

I loved the way the author revealed snippets of incidences as the story built to its satisfying conclusion. The added bonuses of the jittery moments and its general air of apprehension all helped to make One Mistake a true masterpiece.

Overall, a clever and stylish psychological thriller delivering some surprises, complete with an outstanding, attention-grabbing plot. 😊

This is not the first book I've read by Rona Halsall and I'm a huge fan of her writing and intriguing plots. This book fell into two sections for me - in the first half Sara makes a huge mistake at work and her actions that follow get her into an increasingly murky situation involving her work colleague James. For the first half of the book I was desperate to know what was going on with James - one of those books you can't wait to get back to to know what's going on. In the second half Sara's sister Hailey becomes involved with sorting out Sara's increasingly complicated situation and I enjoyed their sleuthing double act. This book is pacy and kept me gripped throughout and I the ending took me by surprise which made it a very satisfying read. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Rona Halsall.

It’s definitely a slow burn, and not at all what I thought it would be. It was refreshing from all the murder/serial killers and police procedural books I normally read. All in all it was enjoyable but not for me. I didn’t like the repetitiveness off Sara’s thoughts. We get it, you feel guilty. I would have enjoyed more of an explanation as to why Fiona was involved. I gave this 3 stars and will recommend it, as it was enjoyable!

One Mistake by Rona Halsall is a psychological thriller that focuses on how one mistake or lie in your life can snowball into so much more. The main character in the story makes a mistake that soon has her tangled in a dangerous web of lies that definitely kept the pages turning.

Sara is a loving mother of three and wife to her husband, Matt, who is the bread winner in the family while Sara had focuses on raising the kids. Sara did have dreams of her own though now that her children were getting older and she took a chance by investing the couple’s savings with the hopes of growing enough to help her go back to school.

One night though Matt comes home obviously upset and Sara is shocked to learn he has lost his job. Sara had taken a part time job recently but even with more hours there is no way she can pay the bills without Matt. Matt then let’s her know he wants to use the opportunity to start his own business, he only needs their savings to get started, savings that Sara has now lost when her investment didn’t pay off leaving her frantic with what to do.

One Mistake was definitely one of those incredibly addicting books that you just want to sit and finish in one go. From the first moment of learning of Sara’s mistake you just know this isn’t going to go well but from then on the author took the story to levels I never would have saw coming. With anything from deception and lies to the bonds within a family tested this was quite the ride all the way through.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

How far would you go to protect your happy home?

Sarah appears to have the perfect life, a husband that loves her, twin teenage daughters and a young son who adores his mother, what could possibly go wrong? Then Matt loses his job and their perfect life comes crashing down around them, Matt falls apart and Sara is left to pick up the pieces and support her family emotionally and financially, but how can she do that on a part time wage? She then makes a decision that could cost her her job, until her boss offers her a deal, in return for a favour, has she made the right choice or the biggest mistake of her life, how can she protect her family now?

This is the second book I've read by this author and I loved it, it drew me in from the prologue and kept me hooked till the very last word, it's told in the third person narrative and has so many twists, I kept second guessing and was wrong every time! Rona Halsall creates her characters and shrouds them in mystery and intrigue, whilst still making them realistic and true. I really felt for Sara but at the same time was screaming at every turn of the page for her not to do something stupid. But none of us are perfect are we, and hopefully we learn from our mistakes. If you like a fast paced read with tension building steadily to a crescendo, then One Mistake is definitely for you and I highly recommend it.

I'd like to thank Bookouture and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

One Mistake by Rona Halsall spins an intricate web of lies and deception one resorts to in order to cover up a single mistake made in the most desperate of moments. The plot revolves around the theme of marriage, family, and friendship.

The book is addictive. It is slow at the beginning, but picks up pace as it nears conclusion. Once it is in the top gear, there is no stopping it! A well crafted psychological thriller indeed.

The characters and situations were fairly relatable - nothing too far fetched.

Thanks to the author and the publisher for the ARC.

Verdict: Recommended.

Well, there are more than a few shocks and surprises in this one!

Sara's family mean everything to her; having spent her formative years in care she has only ever wanted a safe and secure family unit for her three children. As she looks around the home she share with her husband Matt, teenage twin girls and four year old son, Sara knows she will do whatever she needs to to protect them. Then Matt loses his job, decides to set himself up in business but needs an influx of cash to get him started. And that's where Sara begins a downward slope, managing to get herself into a position she never though she would. The question is, how does she climb her way back out again?

A thrilling and exciting read, skilfully crafted and showing off all the author's experience - what a book! It's fair to say I couldn't have guessed what was happening and had very little idea of what was coming next. One Mistake kept me guessing all the way through and the surprises kept on coming right up to the very end. A cracking read! Fantastic characterisation and a fast moving storyline packed with detail!  I cannot recommend this one highly enough and have no hesitation in giving it a full five sparkling stars!

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.
