This is a beautiful book. Lovely photographs and I really enjoyed that there was such an array of different ideas (recipes, crafts, flowers) for each season. Great resource for inspiration throughout the year.

A sweet, cozy book to keep through the years. Full of recipes for those who are selective about their food, this book allows the ready to create delicious meals with a little but of a twist. Perfect for the times, this book covers recipes and DIY's for each season, and some of the are so good you would want to make them all year round.

I loved this book! It's filled with DIYs and recipes organized by season with beautiful and bright photos to go along with them. I particularly love their menus after each season, putting together a list of the food and DIYs for different occasions. I have already tried the Polish Pierogies recipe and absolutely loved it! There are also templates included in the back of the book to help with the DIY projects. I'm really looking forward to making my own mini drink umbrellas! This book seems perfect if you want to start making your own food/party decor and want to make your occasions fancy and elegant.

Monika Hobbs is yet another lifestyle guru that I don’t follow but her work impresses me nonetheless. This book is fresh and eye-appealing. I think I want to literally cook every recipe. And I adore the short story or explanation that accompanies each.

I love special details like her “Top 5” kitchen tools, pantry essentials, and DIY tools.

The one section that falls a little flat is the DIY. There are a few cute and innovative ideas, but most seem rather ordinary and uninspired. The photos are beautiful and the directions are detailed, but overall I am left wanting a little more ... expecting a little more. Especially since I am so inspired by the recipe section!

Gather at Home is a DIY - style- and tutorial book with a simple home entertaining aesthetic by Monika Hibbs. Released 10th March 2020 by Penguin Random House Canada, it's a substantial 304 pages and available in hardback and ebook formats.

This is a beautifully presented style guide full of well curated photographs. Everything is light and bright and there's nary a smudge to be seen. It's appealing and beautiful (and reminds me a lot of vintage Martha Stewart).

The book is full of good ideas which I will never get around to doing (but love looking at and pretending I'll put it on my inspiration board to get around to it soon). The ideas range from whimsical but fairly easy (hand dipped coloured birthday candles) to appealing but somewhat impractical (hand torn dyed chiffon ribbons).

The book is arranged around a seasonal theme, spring summer fall and winter. Each season get a full treatment with sample menus (recipes included) as well as decorations and coordinating DIY crafts tutorials.

This is an undeniably beautiful book. The numerous delicious recipes include yields, ingredients listed bullet style (with American standard and metric measures (in parentheses) included), step by step cooking instructions, and usage tips. The DIY crafts include full size templates. There is also a good cross referenced index for finding recipes and projects quickly.

It would make a superlative gift for a friend who enjoys entertaining as well as a gorgeous addition to the home lifestyle library.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This is a gorgeous book that reminds me quite a lot of the Martha Stewart books that were once so popular. I was excited by the description of "relaxed and easy ways to make your everyday moments and seasonal celebrations special" but I didn't find it particularly relaxed or easy. It's all beautiful in that perfect beautiful rich family way, and I know it will be a huge hit. I should have noticed the words "lifestyle influencer" in the description, since that is just not my jam.

There are lovely crafts and the recipes look elegant and delicious. Most have photographs. No nutritional information is provided.

These sorts of books sell a fantasy, and this one does it well. I prefer messy and real, so it's not one that I'll reach for again. I'm sure others will adore it though.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

5 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy lifestyle books that follow the seasons and include recipes, DIY projects, and floral arrangement inspiration.

This book was a delight to read. Everything from the gorgeous pictures, to strong element of tradition was so beautifully put on each page. I love the focus on family and tradition, and that Hobbs talks about passing down her mother's traditions to her own children. I also loved that she broke her book up by seasons, that is my favorite way to read a lifestyle book, and had me looking forward to the rest of 2020. I found myself so excited to reach each new season and soak up the recipes, photos, and projects. I love that she includes florals and greens that are in season as well! Her approaches are simple and accessible, and she includes patterns for the reader to use along the way. There was not a project in this collection that I wouldn't try making. Some of the recipes are not up my alley, as I'm not much for starting the year with "clean eating" (ex. clean cupcakes - I'll just go for normal ones.) but the bulk of them I would love to try. Some particular recipes I cannot wait to test are: Turkey Quinoa Burgers with Pineapple, On-the-Go Breakfast Muffins, Polish Chicken Noodle Soup, Light Cherry and Heirloom Tomato Pasta, White Wine Sangria, Individual Strawberry and Cream Pavlovas, Maple, Lemon, and Garlic Glazed Salmon, and Crunchy Honey, Cinnamon, and Almond Granola. Some particular projects I cannot wait to try are: Peony Bloom Place Cards, Kissing Felt Mistletoe, Wooden Hoop Winter Wreaths, Country Floral Arrangement, Pressed Floral and Citrus Bottle Chiller, and Potted Spring Bulbs.

The book is divided into sections based on the four seasons. Recipes appropriate for the ingredients available and the reasons to celebrate are included in each. All of them sound like special and delicious family favorites. Gorgeous full color photos of each dish and all projects are included, along with identifying photos of selected seasonal flowers and greenery. The end of each section also has sample menus, putting together the recipes as a plan for a party or gathering. The book seems like a great guide for making things special but not overly difficult for the hostess.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
