Kill one man, and you are a murderer.

Amy's fiance disappears two weeks before their wedding. Already filled with worry and grief, Amy is being hit with yet another shocking discovery, her beloved Matt has been living a double life. And miles away, Matt's girlfriend Fiona is full of suspicion of Amy's involvement in Matt's disappearance.

Matt is not the only connection between Amy and Fiona. The two women have a wretched past, that both of them are trying to escape.

Great plot, I was very surprised by the turn of the events at the end. The dialogue felt a bit cheesy at times, but otherwise, it’s a smooth and entertaining read. Thank you NetGalley and Avon publisher for a free and advanced copy of the book.

The Vow is a book that started off as a romantic prelude as Amy prepared to marry the man of her dreams. His disappearance two weeks before the big day, transformed the story into one of betrayal, deceit and confusion. Told from the point of three main characters, it had enough twists and turns to keep me engaged. I found Amy to be a little irritating, due to her ability to accept everything that was happening to her without really reacting. Daughter Jess’ narrative made up for this though as she was confident and self assured. Am enjoyable read - thank you to Netgalley for the chance to review.

Woah! This book was outstanding. I was hooked from the first page. Thanks @netgalley and @avon_books for an advanced copy.

I’ve finished watching Lucifer lately and was rooting for some good modern criminal fiction and I came across the synopsis of The Vow. I couldn’t sleep properly until I finished the book.

Synopsis:
Everything was perfect. And then her fiance disappeared…
‘Dazzling’ DAILY MAIL
‘A terrific new talent’ PETER JAMES
Two weeks before her wedding, a stranger stops Amy in the street and warns her she’s in danger. Then that night, Matt, her fiancé, doesn’t come home. Desperate, Amy calls the police – but when Matt fails to emerge, she’s forced to call off her wedding day.
Then another man is reported missing, by a woman called Fiona – a man meeting Matt’s description, who was about to leave his fiancée for her.  He was supposed to be moving in with her – but instead, he’s vanished.
Amy refuses to believe Fiona’s lover can be her Matt – but photos prove otherwise, and it soon becomes clear that Matt has been leading a double life. As the police dig deeper, two conflicting, yet equally plausible stories emerge from two women who allegedly have never met.
The wedding day never happened. But the funeral might.

Things I absolutely loved about this book:
1. Amy is totally unreliable , her thoughts will drive you crazy
2. Fiona’s simple one dimensional role.
3. The first half of the book is breathtaking, the storyline keeps getting better.
Now the things which made me a bit disappointed:
1. Some plot twists happened during the police investigation which sounded a bit unrealistic.
2. Fiona’s storyline at the end wasn’t up to the mark.
Apart from that this book is a good one. It comes out this October. So hurry up and add this to your fall tbr list.

A twisty thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the characters were well developed and explored and the plot flows nicely

Although we start off in the romantic genre, this book very quickly moves to psychological thriller with some nice twists and turns of the plot along the way. Just when you think you've guessed who the villain of the piece is and you've got it all worked out, it isn't quite as obvious as it appears and there are more victims than you think. I would have liked Amy to have been a little stronger and less accepting of blame and punishment but perhaps the writer intended to emphasise the wider impact of gaslighting which is becoming more exposed - the apparent perfect relationship can hide many secrets. I'd definitely read more by this writer.

I enjoyed this book as it kept me guessing until the very end and every time I thought I had sussed it I hadn't. The only thing I was unsure of was the apparent lack of police capability in carrying out the simplest of things, however putting that aside, this is a good book.

Having been on Lock Down & Shielding since the beginning of March & with many more weeks to go , my love of Reading has been my salvation along with my garden .Books have taken me on trips & adventures I cannot under take myself due to health & mobility issues ,along with very sadly the Pandemic of Covid-19. However in between the light hearted Books ,the Travel escapes it's also good to be challenge by mystery & complex characters which The Vow most indubitably is.I was also greatly intrigued by the herbalistic & Plant side to the twisting plot & sub plots. Very enjoyable from start to finish & a Book I will highly recommend to friends & members of various Book Groups I am Part of.

Amy is getting married to Matt in 2 weeks, everything is perfect in their relationship and they’ve already written their vows
But when Matt disappears and the police start to investigate it’s revealed that their perfect relationship wasn’t so perfect after all and Matt has been leading a double life

But what if the other woman ( Fiona) is the one from her teenage days that she doesn’t ever want to meet ?

What I love the most about this book are plot twists that were so captivating and Wow such a beautiful cover

The story is told from different perspectives which allows you to know the inside of every characters mind , ofcourse my favorite being Jess (Amy’s daughter ) a very strong willed lady who did everything to save her mom.

I give this book a 4🌟🌟🌟🌟 Star , taking 1🌟 away from it because I feel like the story was cut short and ended early .. I wanted to see Amy , Fiona and Matt confronting each other at least once to settle their affairs

It’s a story about love, jealousy, loss and revenge caring a big topic and it shows how a little thing like jealousy can affect and ruin more than one life forever

Thank you NetGalley and Avon books for sending me the Arc and allow me to give my honest review

Amy is planning her perfect wedding and it's planned for 2 weeks time.
Matt is her fiancee and all is going well....until he disappears.
The story is told from various characters perspective and it starts off well. For me though, Amy is a frustrating, irritating character who, to say she is naive, is being kind. She is a herbalist and this part of the story is fascinating.
Also, her daughter Amy and other characters kept my interest. As the story progresses, various new information comes to light about Matt and his past.

A story about secrets and lies, friendships and family and for me it was an OK read.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview.

Loved the cover, this book kept my attention from page one. There was so much suspense built up which kept me reading way into the night. I did guess the final twist which is why this isn’t 5 stars but nonetheless a really engaging and well written thriller. Multiple POV stories are my favourite when done well and I really enjoyed the unknown narrator aspect of the story

Debbie Howells has produced another psychological thriller that delivers.
The surprise element is good as are the twists and turns of the story.
The two unreliable narrators add doubt to the reader's reasoning and make the plot more unpredictable.
The Vow as a title is a misleading but good title as it can be taken a variety of ways.
Interesting the novel starts as one plot and unravels as another.
Clever writing, well portrayed characters makes this latest offering from the author a sure fire winner.

Wow what a story. When Amy's fiancee goes missing two weeks before their wedding she is desperate to find out what has happened to him, but things aren't quite as they seem when someone else reports him missing. As the police look into his disappearance secrets from the past come to light which makes for a great story with lots of twists and as things start to unravel it becomes clear there's lots more to discover before the truth is finally revealed.A real page turner thas has an unexpected outcome. I loved it.

The Vow is a weaving meandering story, not a “grab you by the throat” thriller, but a slow burner. Desperately sad at times - and with frustrating characters at times too - but over all a decent read. 3.5 stars.

Not the kind of book you may expect from its cover!!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

What a twisty book! I could not put this down! I just needed to know what had happened to Amy's fiancé...where was he? what has happened to him? and 2 weeks before they were supposed to get married no less!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It kept me gripped until the very end. Incredibly suspenseful and fast paced. Would highly recommend if you love a psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns along the way.

There is also a double meaning in the title of the book (I won't give anything away!) which is very clever.

I received this book free of charge from the publisher in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This book is a great thriller and with lots of twists it does keep you guessing until the end. Debbie Howells carefully adds more and more layers to the story till it all unravels to reveal the mystery. She does a good job making you question who to trust and the characters are fairly well developed. Would recommend for anyone who lkes psychological thrillers!

A decent thriller, full of intrigue and betrayal which held my attention throughout.

Amy is stopped on the street by a complete stranger who tells her that she is in danger, but she doesn’t believe them. She is happy, about to be married soon to the man she loves.
Her fiancé Matt calls telling her that he will be late home from work but doesn’t arrive. Amy reports him missing. Soon after, another woman reports her partner, someone meeting Matt’s description, missing and Amy comes under suspicion in his disappearance
The story begins in earnest as we find out that Matt has been living a double life and Amy’s present and past collide.
Definitely worth a read.
