Oh my my!!! What a thrill ride!!!!

This juicy little book is one that you will not want to put down!

Maddy is devastated by the sudden death of her youngest daughter and not even a month later, her husband disappears off a bridge, leaving behind only his rucksack. Police are assuming suicide, but they have not found his body. Maddy goes on a search to find out what happened to her husband. She's convinced that he would not abandon her and their other daughter, Emily and the unborn baby that she's carrying.

I stayed up much too late and night devouring this book! Ruby Speechley is one of my new favorite authors, what a book!

A special thank you to NetGalley, Hera Books, and Ruby Speechley for providing me with an ARC.

Maddy Saunders and her husband, Max, are grieving after the unexpected death of one of their daughters. When Max goes missing, possibly dead by suicide, Maddy can't believe she could face anything worse, but when she finds out one lie that Max told, more follow and her whole life threatens to unravel.

This was an okay read but to be honest, the synopsis made it sound much more mysterious than it actually was. Told from the views of several characters, the story is revealed piece by piece - but you probably can work out most of it. I also couldn't fathom whether I was supposed to feel sorry for Max (I didn't). Overall, it isn't a book I would pick up again. Nice cover though.

Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, Hera Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

With a cover like that, how could the book not be addictive. I was zapped into the energy of the story as if it dared me to stop reading. Could I? Stop reading? No...siree...no. From beginning to end, it was a whirlpool of secrets and lies, revealed to me with a jaw-dropping effect often times. I tell ya... That author Ruby Speechley had a wicked mind that proved the adage - Hell hath no fury than a woman betrayed.

Having revelled in her previous book, I jumped into this one with a gutso. Max disappeared, his rucksack was found in the waters of the local canal. Did he jump from the bridge? Maddie his wife was shattered; they had just lost their baby daughter Chloe. Was that the reason which caused him to take such a drastic step? Every word written by this talented author invigorated me to read further. A chapter went on to two more until I reached the end at 4 am. This book was so worth losing sleep over.

Different POVs and dual timelines, the story opened the door to the lives of these characters. Clues led to investigation which led to reactions and counter actions, each one a vicious cycle. Grief and lies were a deadly combination. Shocks and minor tremors were felt every few chapters. The author knew how to keep the plot pulsating.

One compulsive read which was a domestic drama written in a suspenseful manner. The guys at Hera know how to pull out a winner!!

Always a Hera girl!!

Every Little Secret hooked me in right from the start. Lonely girl Maddy Saunders hires down-on-his-luck Max to do some renovation work on her inherited badly-in-need-of-an-update house. Somewhat predictably, they fall in love, get married, and start a family. but what happens next is anything but predictable. Surprisingly to Maddy, Max takes his own life, and, after the police find his backpack, what she finds inside leads Maddy on a search to find some answers. It’s then that Ruby Speechley takes the reader on a twisty, dark, roller coaster of events.

In order to keep this review spoiler free, that’s where I’m going to end my synopsis, but let me just say that Speechley takes several what could be overdone and predictable plots and makes them unique and fresh, constantly making the reader think, “Did that just really happen?” Although this was my first Ruby Speechley book, it’s definitely not my last! Every Little Secret has all the elements of just what it takes to make a great psychological thriller!

Thanks to Ruby Speechley, Hera Books, and Netgalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is my first book from this author. I picked it up after reading the blurb and the reviews. But somehow I could neither get into the book nor like the characters. I don’t think anyone would not bother to find out who is coming into their house for weeks in their absence, or neither woman not finding out the husband’s infidelity. Sorry not my pick.

I thought this was going to be a bit of a different book but overall I ended up enjoying it. I think the only thing I didn’t like was how it felt like there was a lot of information dump at times throughout the dialogue. However, towards the third half of the book things got really interesting and it was more fast paced. I did enjoy seeing the main character struggle with the secrets she was uncovering and how she handled it, even if it led her to make some questionable choices. I think it was pretty good character writing because of how real most of the characters felt. Overall, I would say it wasn’t my favorite book but it was an enjoyable read.

Maddy's daughter Chloe has passed away a few weeks ago after contacting meningitis. Now her husband Max has went missing. Maddy is determined to find out what had happened to him. But will she like what she finds out? The police had found a key hidden in the lining of his rucksack. But Maddy has never seen the key before. Just how well did Maddy know her husband?

The more Maddy digs into her husbands background the less she seems to know him. My heart went out to her. This is one of these stories where you can't say too much or it would spoil it for potential readers. The pace is fast in this well written book that's also tense and gripping. Thenstory moves between the past, 2011 and the present, 2019. This is an interesting read but I did feel there was questions I still needed answered.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Hera Books and the author Ruby Speechley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this book! I'm sorry to say that I couldn't seem to connect with it very well. While I know this situation happens more than people realize I just couldn't seem to get into this book as much as I would have liked. I believe the writing was good, while at times it felt a bit short? I also feel as though it was detailed to the point where it was a bit too long. While at first this book felt like another I had read, by the 9th chapter I realized it wasn't quite like it as I thought, but I still managed to guess the ending..or at least parts of it. What happens to our main female lead was the slight surprise to me, since I didn't expect it to take that turn. I'm not sure if I would read this book again, but appreciate the opportunity to give my honest opinion in return. Thank you.

Maddy's husband Max has disappeared, presumably jumping off a bridge. All that has been found is his bag, in the river. This contains some clues and Maddy starts to follow some leads. It turns out Max has a lot of secrets.

I liked this book. It was a quick read. I think this particular theme has been done a few times, but that didn't stop me from turning the pages. Even though early on, we had a pretty good clue about what Max had been up to, it was still interesting to see how it would play out. I would read more from this author.

The first book I’ve read from this author and I was totally addicted to it.

Maddie is coming to terms with the death of her daughter Chloe aged 5 to Meningitis. When the police knock at her door she is distraught to hear that her Husband Max may have jumped off a bridge, his rucksack was found in the water below.

This story is told from several people’s perspectives and we get to see what Max was dealing with up to the night of his disappearance.

Maddy starts to investigate what has happened to Max and without giving anything away, discovers a side of her husband she never knew!!

I was completely swept away, with its numerous twists along the way. This will keep you hooked until the last page.

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

An uber twisted love triangle is the center plot of Ruby Speechley's Every Little Secret. Maddy has always thought that her and Max had a good marriage. They've had their shares of ups and downs, but they were solid until her life starts to unravel. Her 5-year-old daughter dies and she is pregnant and trying to cope. Maddy goes off the rails when her husband turns up missing. Did he jump off a bridge or is in hiding?

Max has told so many lies that he has confused himself. His life is unraveling as fast as Maddy's is. Max's bad choices will lead him and Maddy down a scary path that Maddy may never recover from. If Max is lying to her, she is hell-bent on revenge and no one will stand in Maddy's way.

Every Little Secret was a scary, chilling read. The book was very hard to put down and readers will want to stay up late at night to find out what is truth and what are the lies in this book. Very good writing, realistic characters and a disturbing plot - highly recommended!

This has definitely been a gripping read. I haven’t been able to put this one down. It has gripped me and kept me guessing throughout.
Initially, the cover of this one attracted me but the story has been equally as good. Definitely one I recommend.

The book begins with a man in a dilemma. Then the story of Max’s family life unfolds.

He and his wife are dealing with the tragic loss of their daughter when Max suddenly disappears. What follows is the story of what happened before and after.

Whilst I did enjoy this book, there was something that stopped me from fully engaging with it. The tension built nicely, the premise of the plot was interesting yet I just felt it dipped in pace in the middle and became a bit of a chore to read.

The writing was effective in portraying the mental state of main characters. Where it jarred a bit was with the overlong setting descriptions and unnecessary detailed prose.

Overall, I would recommend this as it has an interesting premise with some good twists and turns.

I received an advance copy of this book from netgalley in return for an honest review.

Mandy is mourning the death of her younger, five-year-old daughter, Chloe when police tell her that her husband, Max, has taken his life by jumping into a river leaving his rucksack behind. But his body isn't found and Mandy can't believe that Max is dead, too.

The book is written in two timelines so we learn what has led up to Max's disappearance and what Mandy discovers as a result of searching for the truth. Every Little Secret is a fast-paced psychological thriller perfect for fans of Clare Mackintosh and Alice Feeney. Thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for the opportunity to read and review it.

I really felt for each of the characters. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend if you enjoy psychological thrillers. Very well written. Will look for more by this author.

This was a decent book that moves at a fast pace. It starts off quickly, with Maddy being told in the first chapter that her husband Max is presumed dead. From there, the book goes back and forth between past and present to uncover the things that happened to the characters to get up to the current time.

I liked the pacing and the overall tension of the book, and could actually empathize with Max, though I wasn't expecting to once I learned more of the background. I had trouble connecting with Maddy, though- although it was obvious that she was spiraling out of control, I thought many of the things she did were just mean. I couldn't figure out why she resorted to doing some of the things that she did instead of just asking more questions and being willing to have a conversation. I found myself getting more and more frustrated with her as the book went on.

Overall, I enjoyed the read, though I thought the ending still left me with a lot unanswered questions. If I had liked Maddy more, I think I would have liked the book more, but still thought it was a decent book overall.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book but didn’t love it! The story was a bit convoluted. I really loved Ruby Speechley’s first book, though, so I’m still keeping her on my favorite authors list!

Thank you to Netgalley for a preview of this book. I found this book okay, the plot thinned a great deal and I felt the storyline was weak and predictable. I found it a struggle to finish.
