This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Thomas.  It is the start of a new series for the author.  I think that this title will be enjoyed by those who read books by writers including Debbie Macomber, Brenda Novak and Robyn Carr.  It is an enjoyable women's fiction title.

The three main male characters are Colby, Sam and Pecos.  The three women are Piper, Anna and Kerrie.  Their respective relationships form the basis for the romances of the novel.  There is an additional relationship that includes the sheriff and  the woman with whom he is involved.  The setting is a small Texas town where Piper is the mayor.

Colby comes to town to be a bodyguard/detective whose charge is Piper who, in turn, is receiving threats and who had a date with someone who subsequently disappeared.  The sheriff has himself been out of reach and is not there to help for much of the story.

Colby has a back story of injury.  He wants to be a Texas Ranger.  Sam is a minister who is looking to find himself; he has escaped through many other occupations.  Pecos is young, graduating from high school and becoming a man over night.  The women with whom they are involved are strong and are survivors and people who cope.

This is a book that will be welcomed by readers who are looking forward to an easy but enjoyable read.  Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

Well written and entertaining romance with a bit of mystery. Good plot and believable characters. Readers of romance will enjoy this book. I received an arc from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

A new Town and a new series from one of my favorite authors, Jodi Thomas. She writes interesting characters and fun towns. Honey Creek is no exception. Piper Jane Mackenzie is the mayor of Honey Creek and she loves the town. Colby McBride shows up to help her find her out with a problem. They are just two of the fun couples who are part of the story in this first book. This is a easy read that is perfect for this time of life. Book two comes out next year. I will be sure to pick it up.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Mayor or Honey Creek, Texas, Piper Jane MacKenzie lives for her career. She loves her town, and the people in it. But when her fake fiancés car is found floating done the river, her life is put into turmoil. Reporters are calling and she’s afraid for her job. Then Colby McBride comes into town, hires by her brother, to help figure out what happened to the missing fiancé. Unknown danger is in store for Piper, and Colby becomes her bodyguard.
Sam Cassidy comes into town, as the temporary pastor. Sam has pain in his past and thinks he can return some of his childhood happiness in following in his father’s footsteps.
This was a wonderful story. I was confused at first, when there was so many characters points of view, but the. You realize that each character has an important part to play in the story. I was instantly drawn into the lives of these character’s and had a hard time putting it down. The characters were all wonderful and believable. They were all beautifully flawed. The author did a wonderful job of writing and describing the town and I could clearly picture it. I’m so glad that this is going to be series, and am looking forward to reading more about the people of Honey Creek.

I have read Jodi Thomas before and enjoyed her books. I assume this is a start of a new series since we had SO many people to follow. It was almost too much and a bit confusing. I then felt the ending was rushed and some jumped into a HEA way too soon. I liked Colby, Piper and Pecos and Sam. It was an interesting book

Breakfast at the Honey Creek Cafe is the 1st book in the Honey Creek Series. The story is set in a small town with a whole slew of characters that I really enjoyed getting to know. The story is told in 4 different POV's, which I loved! Piper the Mayor, Colby the Trooper, Sam the Preacher and Pecos the teenager. All 4 of these characters have so many things going on in their lives.

The Mayor's boyfriend is missing and some people are thinking foul play. Colby was asked by Piper's brother to head to Honey Creek and not only protect his sister, but try to dig up some answers to her missing boyfriend. Sam is a complicated man. He's unsure of his place in the world right now and thinks maybe his calling is to preach in Honey Creek. Pecos is just graduating from High School and the only thing he knows for sure, is that he doesn't want to live with his parents any longer. There is definitely a lot going on with these 4.

For me the story was a bit slow, but I do realize that the author is introducing a new town and characters, and that does tend to slow things down a bit. It took me awhile to warm up to Piper. I didn't care for her attitude, but once I got further in the book, I started to like her a bit more. The relationships that developed between the characters were set at a really good pace, until the end of the story. To me it just felt like the author wanted to make sure they each got their HEA before the ending. The only thing that I really wanted to know and didn't receive an answer to, was what happened to the relationship between Piper and her ex-husband. She thought about it a lot and it was what stopped her from even going out with a man until Colby appeared. Maybe that answer will come in another book.

I'll be looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I really hope we will get to see more of these characters as I'm especially interested in what will happen to Pecos in the future.

The book is set in a small town where everyone knows other peoples business. The story is told from the viewpoint of several characters. Each chapter features one of the characters. This is the first book in a new series and it is a good start. I look forward to reading more of the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I love Jodi Thomas! I love the town of Honey Creek and this is a great start to a new series. I’m a sucker for small town stories and this one is no different. It is a compelling read full of hope and second chances and characters trying to discover who they are. I enjoyed Breakfast at Honey Creek Cafe. It’s a heartwarming story full of love and a little bit of danger. The only downside is that I have to wait for the next installment. It’s a compelling read.

I have always enjoyed Jodi Thomas's books and this one was no different. I loved the town of Honey Creek and all of it's quirky characters. There are three main characters in this book but it is written so it is easy to keep up with all of them. This is an easy to read book. I look forward to reading more books set in Honey Creek.

This book has an interesting cast of characters and at times it could feel a bit crowded and jumpy. Interesting concept of a series - I’ll be interested to see if Ms Thomas can refine it and make the residents of Honey Creek compelling enough for me.

So many people seem to be trying to find themselves or decide what profession they want to try next. Some are working on changing their profession. It kept the book interesting. Three different relationships happens at the same time. I really enjoyed reading, Breakfast at the Honey Creek Cafe.

I love Jodi Thomas’s writing. Her books all seem to feature small Texas towns full of quirky characters with several intertwined plots as couples of lonely people find their HEAs. Somehow, each book pulls me in and then I can’t put it down. I love spending time with these interesting people. Her characters are original and often are not your typical romantic heroes and heroines. But somehow, I just enjoy reading about them. They’re smart and funny and don’t fit some romantic tropes.

This book is no different. She is introducing us to the town of Honey Creek where everyone knows everyone, as happens in all small-town romances, but some of the people are a bit weird. That is part of their charm.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

*received from netgalley for honest review* Normally wouldn't have read this book by choice but I saw it on bookishfirst, and I just fell in love with the cover. I love that house its so beautiful and I want to paint it :0 !!!!!!! read the first look and tho I don't care for the romance I stayed for the mystery!!

lol no for real tho I did, luckily It wasn't really sexual (sex was mentioned but there wasn't like drawn out annoying sex scenes) just a bunch of drawn out annoying cheesy (SUPER cheesy) romance lmao

I didn't really care much for all the characters but it was an interesting but still weird book. Wasn't really sure where it was all going for a while but it wasn't like annoying so, not sure if id read the next book but id think about it lol

This is the first book in this series. I loved it. I loved the characters and the small town of Honey Creek. I hate that we have to wait a year for the next book in this series

The first Jodi Thomas novel I read was in 1988 (Beneath the Texas Sky) and I continued to read her historical romances as each one was released. Then Ms. Thomas decided to abandon the historical line in favor of contemporary romance and I lost interest very quickly. Reading this book was my way of trying to recapture the warmth and depth of feeling I was accustomed to having with the historical novel line. It didn't happen for me. The plot summary is well done on the book jacket and in descriptions on line so I won't be repeating that information. Fans of the contemporary romance line will find this one much to their liking. Sometimes, in some circumstances, new is not better so I will content myself with reading the older books again.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books, Zebra for an e-galley of this novel.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This is a cozy tale of romance and mystery. Told from the perspective of multiple residents in this sleepy town each person’s story mingles together until one story emerges.

The mayor, Piper, finds herself in trouble when her sort-of-fiancé goes missing and the media goes wild tying her to the mystery. Her brother sends Colby, an off duty trooper who aspires to be a ranger, to protect her. A temporary preacher comes to town and finds everything he thought he’d never have again. Two high school students graduate and build a friendship neither of them expect.

The mystery feels like an after thought to the love stories but it was an enjoyable read! A nice distraction from the darker things going on in the world.

This first book in the Honey Creek series is a very heart warming book about life in a small town in Texas. This story was told through the eyes of four characters: Piper, the town’s mayor; Colby and Sam, outsiders each on their own mission in Honey Creek; and Pecos, a newly graduated high school senior. There are other secondary characters, like Mr Winston and Dailey, who I also came to love. I did not want this book to end because I felt like I was just one of the residents and all the characters were my friends. I’m hoping that some of the other characters in this book will get their own story. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. Unfortunately it will be a long wait since the book isn’t scheduled to be released until spring, 2021😢. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Kensington Books. All opinions expressed are my own.

Summary

Breakfast at the Honey Creek Café is another example of why Jody is an amazing author and is at the top of her game with this page-turning light romance with mystery. We actually have three couples and a town of secondary characters that you are hoping get their own stories.
Piper is the Mayor and has some trouble. Her Texas Ranger brother sends someone in to help. Colby is on the fast track to be a Ranger and thinks if he can solve this mystery around Piper it will help. His cover story was hilarious and created wonderful scenes between him and Piper and the townspeople.

We also have Sam and Anna. Sam is trying to find himself and answers the letter (meant for his father) to be the local pastor. The town is running them off pretty quickly. Anna is a spunky redhead that is a firecracker. Sam is able to see through her façade to the heart of the issue.

And a precious teen romance with Pecos and Kerrie. This story definitely went in a different direction than I was expecting so I really hope we get to see more of them in future books. Well really I want to see everyone in future books.
You hear people say they did not want a book to end. That is exactly how I felt for this one.
Jodi truly has a gift to great scenes that you see in your head and you are in the story with them. They are real people to you. For example the scene she created at the rest stop. It just fit so perfectly and created that connection with the characters for later in the book.
Sexual content - two of the couples have sex but it is behind closed doors. they also sleep together and nothing happens.
Violence - two people are missing, people almost die in a fire
Language - the preacher might have let an expletive slip once or twice haha
Alcohol - Daily has a drinking problem (hoping he gets his own story), Colby drinks at the bar, once he has a little too much and climbs the trellis. 🙂

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Breakfast at the Honey Creek Cafe, has everything a reader like myself loves. There are basically three different story lines going on at the same time. The characters inner weaves with all the different stories and a mystery to be solved! Actually two mysteries! I love the way Jodi Thomas characters seem so realistic and a little goofy at times. The only drawback is the next book is Spring 2021.
