I've tried several books by Rebecca now and her books are just not my cuppa tea. I'm not sure if it's the writing style or what but unfortunately something just isn't clicking. I keep going back but fail. I love her covers and synopsis. They both always draw me in but once I get between the pages it's a wrap, nothing keeps me captivated.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. I'm sorry I can't provide a review.

DNF @ multiple percentages.

Rating 1 star because NetGalley makes us leave a rating, this is not a reflection on the book itself.

Great concept, but heavy-handed info dumps and lots of telling vice showing make this a predictable and plodding read, which is unusual for other Zanetti books. The chemistry was tepid, perhaps because Wolfe is uncommunicative and boorish while Dana is a know-it-all just shy of being a whiny brat. The action, usually a Zanetti strength, was unbelievable and repetitive. The backstory is thin, and with three simultaneous storylines, non of which are fully fleshed out feels incomplete. There is considerable word count given to minor background characters, with the company canine getting lots of mentions, which are poorly transitioned and unfunny. The dialogue lacks believability. Sad miss for one of my favorite action romance writers.

I have been looking forward to Wolfe and Dana’s story for a while now and I knew that it would be great, but I had no idea it would be this awesome. This series has been so interesting, hilarious and intriguing that whenever I pick up a new story I know that I will be going in with the inability to put it down until the very end. Wolfe and Dana’s story was coming from the first time he met her, despite his unwillingness to bring her into his life because he thinks he is too screwed up to have a woman of his own. Dana has been interested in Wolfe too, but he is so blocked and hard to reach that she has no idea how deep he truly goes, but when they are thrown into danger together, searching for two seemingly disparate bad guys, she refuses to let him leave her behind. Wolfe is the kind of guy that will never let a woman place herself into the line of fire and when he finds Dana in it, he is determined to pull her out, but when working together becomes the only way to bring down a dangerous criminal there is no denying that they are a great team. He obviously has quite a few issues to work through from his past, but at the same time his attraction and yearning for Dana is undeniable and when he does finally give in he gives her his whole heart. Dana is brilliant, beautiful, sweet and witty; I enjoyed seeing them come together and Dana joining the team rounded everything out perfectly to make them into the best ever team of crime fighters. She knows that Wolfe is the kind of man that will give her everything if she can only break through the walls around his heart and help him heal, but at the same time she knows that being with him will bring its own set of challenges. This book was very enjoyable with the laughter, passion, intrigue, and sweetness between Dana and Wolfe, but the best part of the story was seeing how they worked together and balanced one another as they found out all of the strengths and weaknesses they each had. I am dying for the next story in the series and to see where Rebecca takes us with this group of crazy, dangerous, and slightly insane people. The series only continues to get better and better, but Wolfe and Dana were enough to remind me why I love Rebecca’s romantic suspense so much.

Dangerous: Former Navy SEAL Clarence Wolfe's unit was taken out with a land mine. Injured and devastated, he hasn't been quite right since. Worse, the tragedy was no accident. All Wolfe wants now is to take down the man responsible. In the meantime, he's good with being the muscle for the Deep Ops team--and leading a steamy no-strings-attached personal life. Until one intriguing woman changes everything . . .
Determined: Reporter Dana Mulberry is on a mission to avenge the death of a fellow journalist. She's finally hot on a trail--right to a sex club--where she runs into . . . Wolfe? It seems both their leads have led to the same spot. To keep from blowing their covers, they'll have to at least pretend to have a little fun. Trouble is, they genuinely like each other. And that's way too risky for Wolfe, especially when, to his surprise, Dana agrees . . .
Complicated: Drawn to each other in ways they can't understand, Wolfe and Dana keep it professional--until they're shot at one night. And when their adventures land them both at the heart of corruption in D.C.--and at odds in their missions--they'll have to dig deeper than ever to succeed in their quests--and with each other.

I loved this book so much. It was a perfect blend of romance and action as well as a small mix of humour. The characters mix so well together and all bring something special to the story. I have to admit I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy Dana and Wolfe together because he is pretty much its my way of the highway kind of guy, but with these two it worked. Even though he still very much is that guy I noticed Dana doesn't just lay down and takes it kind of girl. So they ended up compromising more than I was expecting.

I do have to admit though my favourite character in this book was the dog (which it has been for the very start). He brings so much humour to a very intense story. I love how not only is he a mess within his own right but he still is very protective of the people in their circle.

I ended up rating this book 4 out of 5 stars and I can't wait to read the next book in the series and I hope there are many more to come with more characters coming into play. I would suggest anyone who loves a good romance with a mix of action to give this series a go.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Amazing! Love this series and it's characters, each of them with their own flaw but perfect as a kind of misfit team. I enjoy every single on of these books and their storylines. I cannot wait to read the next.

My Kindle broke and I had to factory reset it and lost all of my Net Galleys, so I wasn't able to complete my read/review of Broken. Ironic right?

The archive date had already passed and I wasn't able to re-download it. I'll be catching this book from my local library.

Love this series. From the beginning I was anxious for Wolfe's story and then you add Dana and you just knew they were meant for each other. This story was every thing I hoped it would be and more. Wolfe proves to be fiercely protective and so dang lovable. I think it was Kat, the cat named Kat, that showed us the broken and protective side of Wolfe at first and it's tenfold with Dana.

It's an exciting story very Rebecca Zanetti-ish. Twist and turns and great action and suspense and the down time with Wolfe and Dana was HOT.

Broken started out so good, I really loved getting into Wolfe’s head. Dana was great at the beginning too, then after a while she became a little obnoxious. What is it with female characters who people want dead and they want to do everything then can to not keep themselves safe? Oh, I have no training, and no fighting skills and this dude want me dead? Of course I’m not going to stay safe somewhere, duh. It’s beyond stupid. If someone is trying to kill me, of course I’m going to let the very big, very trained people who do this on a regular basis handle it. That would be the smart thing to do. Unfortunately Dana, while intelligent, wasn’t very smart. So. Freaking. Obnoxious.

Wolf is named perfectly loyal, honorable, and protective. He is thoughtful enough that he brings his co-worker sweet treats every day. Including sweet coffees loaded with whipped cream and sprinkles. He is always ready to back up any and all of his team. He rescued Kat, a tiny kitten that he now always brings to the office with him riding in his front pocket. Wolf does not seem to realize that he has made a family with the Deep Ops team and how far he will go to protect them. There is nothing not to love about Clarence Wolf.

Dana is a reporter who is also loyal and is not afraid to walk into danger for a story but especially for a friend. When a fellow reporter, Candy, and college friend goes missing and blood found in her apartment “enough that the doctors said no way could someone survive losing that much.” Dana’s hunch and the only lead is the current story she was working on.

Dana is investigating her missing friend and Wolf is on his own personal mission which leads them both showing up at the same BDSM club. Dana is there looking for Candy’s source and Wolf is there on his own personal mission looking for a man that can give him a lead. When a body drops from the second floor they discover that they are looking for the same person and this is just the beginning as their separate cases begin to collide. Dana doesn’t mind having Wolfe around to watch her back, it is not the first time, and she is ever frustrated with being kept in the friend-zone when there is so much chemistry between them.

I enjoyed Broken quite a bit, Rebecca Zanetti is a really great writer. I did feel some of the plot was a little bonkers at times, but overall this book and this series was really well done. 4 stars!

Broken (Deep Ops #3). By Rebecca Zanetti. 2020. Zebra (ARC eBook).

Former Navy SEAL and current Deep Ops member Clarence Wolfe is out to avenge the deaths of his fellow SEALs and Dana Mulberry is looking into the disappearance of her friend and fellow reporter. When their leads land them together at a party, their seemingly different cases tangle up into one dangerous mission. Having felt a draw to each other since they first met, Wolfe and Dana try to keep it professional but it isn’t too long before they are tangling the bed sheets as well.

Broken is the first I’ve read of this series and I love Wolfe and Dana’s chemistry and the dynamic of a great cast of supporting characters; especially Kat the cat and Roscoe, a literal booze hound with a penchant for stealing scenes. With well-paced action, danger, sizzle, emotion and humor, this is definitely a Romantic Suspense series I want to follow!

Oh. Wolfe and Dana.
I was anxiously awaiting for thier story. And yes it was worth the wait and then some. From Wolfe's take charge attitude and Dana's independence, we're justade for each other. And let us not forget about the adorable pets.

It was fun to finally get Wolfe's story. He's been the mysterious, some might say "crazy" member of the Deep Ops group. This over 6 feet tall, muscled ex-military guy loves to shower his co-workers with sugary coffee drinks and he carries a kitten named Cat in his pocket.

Wolfe has been on a personal mission while working for the Deep Ops group, to bring down the guy responsible for kicking their unit overseas. He has also been fighting his attraction to Dana, a reporter he has firmly put in the friend zone to keep her safe from him and the enemy he has been hunting.

Dana is sick of being just a friend to the sexy, sweet, quirky, and sometimes scary Wolfe. One thing leads to another and she finally gets out of the friend zone and into the friends with benefits (not really they are fooling themselves).

Broken is a funny, sweet, sexy, and action pack addition to the Deep Ops series. I really enjoyed it on audio, narrated by Roger Wayne. I look forward to the next story.

Memorable characters, a strong plot, and plenty of action. If these are things that you search for in a book then look no further. This was a great book and I look forward to Rebecca's next book. I had not previously been aware that this book was apart of a series but I will definitely be going back and reading the other books in the series.

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel via Netgalley and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
