Bleed through by Roger Canaff

5 stars

A book of two halves.

The book opens with the main character, Kim, emerging from a building having clearly been badly hurt but doing everything she can to avoid the police. The book then goes back a few hours to explain exactly what happened and then deals with the weeks and months following, and the consequences of what happened. At times it flashes back to Kim's childhood but only when this adds to the story.

It is definitely a book of two halves. The first half is a good well written and solid story, but to me, it was not particularly gripping. However, around half way through the book there is an unexpected twist and the book suddenly becomes much more gripping.

Although it is the second book in the series, it stands alone. I have not read the first book, but did not feel like I was missing any background. A really good read.
