Perhaps as a Gag Gift

The cover and even parts of the inside look like a children's picture book, but clearly this is a humorous book meant for adults. I don't see it having a wide appeal. But I imagine it could be a fun gag gift to give to someone who is a part of Silicon Valley culture or wants to be. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area when that area was just starting to heat up, so I felt like I got some of the in-jokes. The book is told in rhyme, though not all the rhymes are necessarily good or scan well. The right person might find this humorous, though I was not particularly amused by it.

This book explores some common terminology used in Silicon Valley , and has some cool illustrations . I personally didn’t find it that funny, but others might

I requested and received an e-ARC from NetGalley and Chronicle Books in exchange for my honest review.

I thought this rhyming ABC book was fun. Geared towards adults but would be a fun gift for anyone working in the tech sector as a baby shower present, a going away present, or a retirement present. Quick and easy read this book could make a great starting point for explaining Silicon Valley to kids.

I received a free eARC from NetGalley and Chronicle Books for my honest opinion.

This is a cute book but I could not relate. This would be an adorable baby shower book for a millennial couple, or a tech family in Silicone Valley. The illustrations were nice and the writing was simple. It had terms that apply to new age business. While adorable I don't find it something that interested me.

This was the alphabet book that technology needs. As a watcher of the HBO series, Silicon Valley, I drew on the knowledge I've gained there to connect with what I was reading here. Still, if I hadn't had that frame of reference, I feel like I would've still enjoyed this abecedarian look at the world of big tech. It was all very funny. I'm glad I read it.

Review to be posted on July 14th on blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I was lured in by the title, Unicorns? Yes, please. :P I knew it probably wouldn't be the unicorn I was imagining, but more a Silicon Valley one, but I didn't mind. Plus, I was definitely curious about the ABCs. Sadly, I didn't enjoy this one as much as I wanted.

It was OK at points, some letters I liked along with their words, but others just had me wondering why I fell for the Unicorn trap (though I guess I did get my unicorn in the end?). It just wasn't for me. But I have to say that they did fit my image of Silicon Valley. Coding, kickstarting, editing, etc.

Oh, btw. With the T is for Traffic, DON'T ever check your mail if you are driving. I don't care if you are stuck in a traffic jam, you keep your eyes on the road, the cars, and everything. Do your email when you are parked or when you are not driving.

Ah, and while I don't mind that the publisher adds the Copyright stuff, maybe not place it in the middle of the text. At times it made reading things harder and that is not something I appreciate.

The art, eh, not my thing. I am sorry but I have to be honest and I just wasn't a fan.

All in all, I am still happy I got a chance to try this one out, just a shame it wasn't for me.

I received an electronic ARC from Chronicle Books through NetGalley.
A humorous take on ABC primers for adults that tries too hard. Girimonte takes readers through Silicon Valley terminology. The illustrations spoof children's books as well.
The rhymes feel forced for some of the terms and ridiculously silly for others.
This will be a fun gift for college graduates starting out or a gag gift for long time tech personnel.
Others may see more humor but this one wasn't for me.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

While this is humorous, it’s just not for me. I love the rhymes and it does make you laugh at times

You can still give it a thought!

I think this book works best for someone already working in a Silicon Valley company to appreciate the puns and the humor of the Alphabet song taking inspiration from technical terms and things tech lovers eat, use, or even do.

It's not really for me and I think you need to love that field to appreciate, but it was fun and I liked some of the rhymes. I thank netgalley for the digital arc.

I read this book this morning, it was a quick read and might be good as a birthday or Christmas present for someone who works in this area, or aspires too. It is more of a fun book as opposed to one that will be read over and over and I think it is definitely one that is more for adults that children even though it is being pitched to both on the back – 3 stars from me for this one.
